  [ =======================>  In RDT History  <======================= ]

On August 6th in 1993, members continue discussing Bjork's
     "Debut".

In 1994, feminism, Tori's use of the word "fuck", more on the
urine ("yes it is urine", "no it's honey"), and Tori's
different presentation of songs in concert (tempo/slur).

In 1995, many more comments on the bounced digests.

In 1996, rabbit rabbit, more views on the gymnasts and health
issues thread, and Possessing the Secret of Joy.

In 1997, more answers for the lyrics questions (seven men is
from "Happy Phantom"), and members discuss the pros & cons of
Lilith Fair as an (essentially) all-women event.

In 1998, people talking during songs at concerts, young fans,
6/7 degrees of Tori, and tickets.

In 2001, one member comments on all the Megans (of whatever
spelling) and all the Beths (in all their forms) on the list.

  [ =======================>  In RDT History  <======================= ]

On August 7th in 1992, parts 2, 3 and 4 of the German Keyboards
     interview were posted:

TORI: "You may perhaps have potential. Call us back in a
few years." Very encouraging! But that's the problem with
the music industry, they invest hardly any money in
developing talent. They don't say, He or she has potential
we can develop. You know, if I wasn't doing what I'm doing
now I'd gladly be on the other side, in Artist Development.

In 1994, feminism, Tori's tempo and slurring in live
performances, concert reviews, and baffled comments in relation
     to the urine thread.

In 1995, more news about Tori's recording of the UTP follow up
album, plus the first news about Tori creating her own record
label, some slightly more positive comments about the digests
filled with bounced messages (eg: "If anyone wants or needs the
long digests without the junk I can send them on"), members
were discussing how knowledge of an artists' background and
history influences their experience with the music, Traci Lords
(after quotes from an interview and song are posted discussing
her rape), a message from Chris that indicates the bounced
digest crisis could be over [but alas, it wasn't], someone asks
why the threads always have to be about death (in its various
forms), and abortion. Plus, a member posts "A Dissertation on
the Expanding RDT Theories" with quotes like:

        Carl Sagan (Astronomer):
          "Billions and Billlions of digests..."

        Jesus (Free Thinker):
"Blessed are the RDT'ers for they shall inherit really big
           digests."

        Lao Tse (a Taoist Cowboy)
"The digests got bigger, then became small again."

In 1997, responses to a member's proposed letter to his parents
dealing with him being gay, and the connotations of the words
     "ladies" and "gentlemen".

In 1998, a number of members request that the bashing and
stereotyping of 15-year-old fans stop, a member posts about the
possible Cornish influences on FTCH, six degrees of Tori,
suggestions for Tori being on Celebrity Deathmatch, reviews,
and Tori's Behind the Music episode.

In 1999, people are Bliss-ing out, 70's nostalgia, and things
     turn nasty [again].

In 2000, more fallout over people leaving, and an interview
between Triple J's Richard Kingsmill and Maynard James Kennan
is posted to the list (deals mostly with mythology and Joseph
     Campbell).

Proof that time travel exists: From seeing a particular James Bond movie
over the weekend, it is apparent that someone during 1994 or afterwards
listened to UtP, then went back to 1975 and named that Bond film based on
what they heard....

skinning peaches? and I thought peeling apples and potatoes was a pain in

I know how hard looking for work can be. I think of all the copies of my
resume that have lined birdcages and have been shredded for nesting material
for small pet rodents. And no one believes in at least having the decency
to send an official rejection letter, I just never hear from most of the
places I've applied to.

talking about CD care: anyone know of an effective and safe way to clean the
data side of a disc? I keep thinking that the skipping on the older discs
is the result of a thumbprint from mishandling and not permanent damage or
some weird early attempt at copy protection. Still, it's odd that it only
affects play on some players.

And proof that production costs per disc are ultracheap, if these companies
can afford to send them en masse through the mail, then there's no way the
music industry can justify the huge markup on music CD's.

And the people at AOL seem not to get it that at least some net abuse is the
result of twits getting those free discs and using the free trial access
just long enought to cause trouble. I'm glad I'm not the only one who
thinks 'Free drink coaster' when I find one of those in the mailbox.

and thanks for sufficiently warning us of your impending arrival in the US!

thanks to e. for the explanation about the situation in Mexico and why Fox
is no better than his predecessors. The US press seems to overlook a lot of
the problems there aside from the usual griping about drug smuggling and
border security- real problems, yes, but totally overlooking the deeper
issues behind those problems.

btw- there's a typo in your top 5 list ;)

Subject: Nostalgia About The Origins Of EWF

My old brain cells are getting faultier by the day but I recall that
during the DDI tour in 1996, "Ears With Feet" (EWF) was first spoken by
Tori in a recorded message to two little girls and their father after a
concert in Ohio. I think it was Akron but it might have been
Cleveland. One of the girls was named Molly as I recall. It was on the
Dent for a while but then Mikewhy said the girls closed their web site
and the recordings so he kept it on the Dent.

I was wondering what ever became of those two girls and their father and
why they closed the web site to Tori who they obviously loved so much.
Was it the change in Tori's music? A divorce of their father and
mother? New directions of the girls after they got older? Or are they
still around as Toriphiles and I have been oblivious?

Anybody remember that? Any comments?

Out.

not to kick things off on an overly cheeeeeesy note, but I loooove this
place, and I love you guys. This is probably THE best place for me to be as
an EWF. :D anyway, on with the replies!

our daily retro thingy said: "On August 4th in 1993, a recipe for upside
down cake was posted....."
care to post it again? pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase? :)

Matt said: "off to do some work ("work? on a saturday? you're back'ards you

hell, I don't do my work till Sunday! :D

Nutty Baker Girl said: "I bought four pounds of Colorado peaches cause they
were on sale. Holy crap, I had a heck of time skinning those fuckers. I
hope those peaches don't desinengrate in the oven."
(totally unrelated, but ever seen Crazy in Alabama? awesome movie..
lol.. your mentioning "Raising Arizona" as one of your faves made me think
of it. :)) you shoulda gotten some Georgia peaches. ;)

Rebecca said: "You say sin, and that person's thinking Garden of Eden and
serpents and hell's fire, and I'm thinking cheesecake, and a different
person thinks of the awesome blowjob he got from a hooker last night."
you say sin and I think of "unpure thoughts".. and then have 'em
again.. but then don't we all? :D

okay.. I don't know if Simon's gonna post this, but if he does, then heck,
oh well.. we've mentioned shadow people in the past.. I saw a very
interesting website, basically.. look:
http://www.anomalies-unlimited.com/Shadow_Person.html <--- is that, by
any chance, anything what the shadow people looked like to you people
who've seen 'em?

Rebecca then said: "I'm embarrassed to admit I had never heard Tom Waits'
version before then..."
     don't be. I still haven't.

Rebecca THEN said: "I promise once I have a job again (hopefully soon), I
won't be harrassing you guys so much."
oh NO! don't say that! we love ya! *begs with big bambi eyes*

Rebecca then replied to my comment about losing myself in my writing or
video projects: "Gosh, I miss those times when you just have fun writing,
and time flies without the minutes punctuating the writer's block shrouding
the word that would be perfect here but it's just beyond the horizon of
your memory. ... I feel a need to do it, of course, but it seems like I'm
always agonizing over word choice or struggling against triteness of some
sort."
one of the best tips of writing I've heard, I heard in Finding
Forrester: "write the first draft with your heart, then revise with your
head." dunno if that's exact, but it's precise enough for me. sounds sorta
like your problem there, Rebecca.. it's a problem for me sometimes too but
other times, my heart takes my head hostage and takes over for a while..
and then when I'm done, it sets my head free and then my head revises what
my heart just spurted out in an empassioned fury.. and cleans the *mess* up
while keeping the good stuff intact.. :D

and Mark.. THANK YOU FOR THE CD CARE TIPS. :D

Brian (COOPS!!): have a safe trip to the good ol' US of A.. take pics!!
come to Georgia! kick some ass! and then do it all over again! :)

Brian then said: "Accept no substitutes, I am the real Brian Cooper. There
can be only one."
but what about the others? what are they, copycats? why those little
thieves! *shakes fist at them*

Brian then said in reply to "don't do this, this or this to CD's": "Yes,
there's no need to do that with your music CDs... that's what AOL CDs are
for!"
that's what my bf said! :) I'm tempted to go to Kroger or KMart and
grab a handful and use 'em for just that.. :)

e said: "I, as an atheist, do feel abused and a little bit scared that my
president is openly catholic and a fanatic at that."
okay.. now.. I'm a Christian (a Baptist at that.. just felt like I'd
mention it just for clarification and for kicks.. no other reason), but
this isn't an "ATHEISTS ARE WRONG!" rant.. I don't do that to anybody for
believing in something I don't believe in, whether it's "God doesn't exist"
or "God's a crackhead hippie" or "God's a dog".. this is a "YOUR PRESIDENT
MUST BE INSANE!" rant. It's terrifying to think that you would feel scared
of--or threatened by--your president because he's a Catholic fanatic and
you're not.. it's frightening that he would be throwing off those vibes.. I
wonder what the Protestant Mexicans there (if there are any that you know
of) think about that whole thing.. lemme know if you can, dude..

and to end this post of mine on a less serious note, go check out my blog
(located at the platinumcomplication.com page of mine)!! pics of the cute
little kitty I babysat are up! :)

Happy Monday everyone.

Stuck again at the hell that is my day job, but luckily with 5 RDTRN's
to keep me from going too crazy.

Bethany noted in #1684 on independant cd store prices and the corporate
giants : "i was surprised, though, that in loria's example the
independent store was priced less than huge store chain." This isn't
*always* true, but on the average, it is. Moby's 18, for example, is
on sale over at Best Buy here in town for $12, but Rick is still selling

all of his for $14. I think with this particular indie store, he doesnt

sell things at a huge discount at the beginning and then mark things
back up after they've been out a while... but his business is booming.
He is likely just one of the lucky ones.

Simon commented also in #1684 on one of my favourite films, Until the
End of the World: " Long movie but it moves along very well." Wim
Wenders has a director's cut that supposedly adds nearly 2 more hours
to the movie. I have no idea what he adds, and I'm sort of afraid to
find out. UTEOTW has a fine, fine soundtrack, though....

Just because Matt did it, I have to to...
my current top 5 albums (as of August 5th, 2002, at 4pm in the pm)

1. Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes
2. R.E.M., Life's Rich Pageant
3. Patti Smith, Land (because you can't have just one of her albums)
4. Leonard Cohen, Best of (yes, yes, that's like Patti... cheating)
5. Travis, The Man Who

That's all for now,

~loria

Back by popular demand? The digests are compiling and I fall beneath
their weight. The flashbacks at the beginning of each digest are a
fabulous idea!

I don't know why I procrastinated in seeing Party Girl or The Wickerman.
I loved them both, for vastly different reasons. Although now that I
think of it, librarians are very much like naked pagans. Only with
clothes.

The new Beth Orton album is a bit disappointing. It doesn't stand a
chance against Central Reservation or Trailer Park. Still, it's a good
album for an album. Just not a Beth Orton album. Though maybe it will
grow on me. It's pleasant and surreal anyway. I wonder how it will
play live, though, as it seems heavy on electronics. I'll find out
Friday.

I, too, like the Melissa Ferrick. 'Drive' is one of the sexiest songs ever.

I am now convinced that The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde would make a
better sci-fi tv series than a single movie. Still, it's captivating.

This week's vivid dream was about Dave Navarro throwing a party for me.
I think this is a sign that my intelligence is waning. But he's hot
anyway.

Should I take the news of a serial killer loose and an outbreak of
West Nile disease in Louisiana as an omen that I should cancel my New
Orleans vacation next month? Nah, I think I'll embrace the madness.

I've started watching Angel again. It's like a completely different
show. What happened? It's

My favourite misheard lyrics: 'Excuse me while I kiss this guy'
and 'I'd swap spit with the sun for you'
Though I had no idea what the chorus to 'Scar Tissue' by RHCP was until
a friend told me.

>My top five movies:

   1. The Wizard of Oz
   2. The Anniversary Party
   3. The Lady in White
   4. Hedwig and the Angry Inch
   5. The Breakfast Club

>Top five non-Tori albums:

   1. Mary Timony: Mountains
   2. Ani Difranco: Dilate
   3. Norah Jones: Come Away With Me
   4. John Mayer: Room for Squares
   5. Shannon Wright: Dyed in the Wool

I had to stop putting Tori in my top album lists cos I'd have to list
at least two or three of her albums, depending on my mood at the time.

Bethany:
>When I put a story of mine on my website, or the Dent, or where ever on
the web, I assume that people will download it and read it and maybe
print it out and lend to a friend. If I don't want that to occur, I do
not put my work out there.

This is possibly the best illustration about mp3s I've read yet.
Because it's not as if we're stealing the music and pretending it's
ours. We're sharing it. Like borrowing a book from a friend. Actually
it's better than that. I've rarely bought a book I've already read by
borrowing it from a friend or checking it out at the library. But I'd
say 99% of my album purchases in the past two years were the result of
mp3s. The other 1% were the result of concerts and friend's
recommendations. When cds were cheaper, I took chances. But now I like
to know I'm not wasting my money.

>My resolution, if I were supreme master of the universe, would be to
allow artists to say "yes, I want my work distributed on the internet"
or "no, I don't."

And this is what annoys me most about the lawsuits. Because, with the
exception of that Swedish bitch from Metallica, it's not the artists
that are saying no and going to court over mp3s. It's the record
companies, the soul sucking entities that usually hold the artist
hostage. The deal with audiogalaxy now is that they have to get
permission from the record company, the producer, etc. and then the
artist and/or songwriter before putting a song on their site.

>I wouldn't make a CD out of pirated downloads, simply on ethical grounds.

I agree. I don't download full albums either. But one or two songs to
sample the album is nothing in comparison. imo.

Oh great satanic cookie monster, your description of the pope's visit
reminded me of the pretend president's visits to West Virginia. As
American redneck patriotism is so much like blind Catholic puppet faith.

I don't mean to offend Catholics or rednecks or muppets or anyone!

juan:
>I didn't know Dream Brother was a book (I am
>ignorant that way) and now THANK YOU because I will write it down and
get my neurosis to work on getting it as soon as I can I MUST READ IT!

I just finished Dream Brother by David Browne today and I could have
cried. It's a biography of both Tim and Jeff Buckley and it weaves the
stories of both their lives together very well. It revealed so many
things I didn't know and also made me love the spirit of Jeff's music
more because of how he is portrayed in the book. It's tragic, but
beautiful. I have to get My Sweetheart the Drunk now. I didn't realize
there was a second album. I love Grace so much. 'Dream Brother' is my
favourite track, but it's his cover of 'Hallelujah' that really sends
shivers up my spine. I didn't know he dated Brenda Kahn! I love how
quirky her music is. And Elizabeth Frazer...it's odd how I was drawn to
so many people that were somehow intertwined in his life before I got
into Jeff's music.

I love Portishead's trip-hop sorrow as well. 'Sour Times' was my high
school locked in my room black hair black clothes lonely song.
But now I think 'Wandering Star' is one of the most sultry songs ever and
Beth's voice just soars on it in this haunting, tragically beautiful way.

Cyndi:

good example to me because the original scared the crap out of me and I
was sitting there almost too scared to give the SLG album a listen to
simply because of that one song.<

I wasn't on the list when SLG came out, so I don't know if everyone else
was as disappointed as I was by the album as a whole. 'Time' and 'Bonnie
& Clyde '97' were the only songs I really liked on the album much. I
know, I know, blaspheme!
I thought in B&C she carried out the concept she was going for. Giving a
female voice to what was originally a male song. A bastardly male song at
that. Tori's whisper made the song even more creepy and realistic, imo.
And hearing her describe her motivation for covering that song did help
put it into perspective for me and whatever my feelings on that album, I
respect her for reaching out to a character that was hidden by the shock
value of the original song.

Simon:
>then there are all those people who had egg on
>their face New Years Day 2000.

I preferred the stranger internet doomsdayers. One guy that was obsessed
with the fact that 2000 was not really the millenium especially. He spent
the entire year warning about New Years 2001, 'the true millenia'. :p

Oh and bad sarcasm is better than no sarcasm, so don't let a few silly
facts hold you back. Sarcasm is an art form.

Rebecca [re: Ryan Adams]:
>He's fast becoming one of those "collaboration sluts", isn't he? I have
to admit though, I've really been taken off guard by how much I like his
album Heartbreaker.

I love Heartbreaker and Gold. Despite his whorish ways, I find that
nothing keeps my temper down better than his music. It's great for rush
hour traffic or post-mother phone call depression.

Cyndi:
>I was listening to the FTCH album and Northern Lad was playing and she
>walked by and yammered about how the music I was listening to was so
>depressing that it was disgusting. WHATEVER.

My mother did the same thing! And god forbid I listen to Radiohead infront
of her. Though this is a woman who started screaming about demons when she
caught me watching Buffy once.
I don't miss living at home much.

Ade:
>sloppy joe, slop-sloppy joe...

Glad to see the classics are still alive. :) You just don't hear
Luncladyland or The Thanksgiving Song or Red-hooded Sweatshirt enough
anymore...

Bethany:
>i like A Sorta Fairytale. the difference between the two versions is
>_just_ amazing - but i like different parts of each.

I've still not heard the full album version of Fairytale, just the demo. I
liked the simplicity of the demo, though.

None of the new songs really knock me off my feet, except perhaps Gold
Dust. I don't think they will come alive for me until I hear the album as a
whole. Away from the computer. :)

And now I send and dive into more digests. See you on the otherside...

I have to say that BFP is my favorite album. I can listen to that album for
days! Mother is my favorite song. But BFP has so many good songs on it.
The emotional rollercoaster it takes you on is addictive. From Beauty Queen
to Twinkle. I do have to say that In the Springtime of His VooDoo has to be
my favorite on the album. Although Professional Widow is a close 2nd. I
have to say that BFP is in my player more than any other album. I think UTP
is 2nd.

On that note: Top 5 Albums

1. Boys for Pele - Tori Amos
2. Under the Pink - Tori Amos
3. Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos
4. From the Choirgirl Hotel - Tori Amos

Don't worry guys, I do listen to other music besides Tori... I just like
her the best. I cherish my tori collection and take them (16 CD's)
everywhere. I will never let go of my precious, precious tori! I know, I
have issues! But I've accepted them and so should you! Thank you and have
a nice day!

There's something just delightful about the thought of a Hello Kitty
vibrator. Speaking of, wanting to invest in one myself, i decided to surf
the web and actually located the one that was in Sex and the City, the
Rabbit Pearl:

http://www.mypleasure.com/education/sexed/rabbit_pearl_demystified.asp

it is truly a complicated and beautiful machine, completely explicated here:
http://www.mypleasure.com/education/sexed/rabbit_pearl_demystified.asp

it looks quite dandy, but it's $80. EIGHTY BUCKS?! and that's on the cheap
side of what i've seen. can any you ladies here recommend a vibrator that
isn't too expensive?

Subject: have you ever seen a dream walking, well i di

This is becoming a habit. An addiction. Smack me up.

I may soon go from working in a law firm to working in a Harley Davidson
shop. Wish me luck.

I really wish I could set people on fire with my mind. It's my lifelong
dream.

And I've run out of weird, pointless things to say for now, so onto the
replies...

Cyndi:
> I hate to be singled out as the ignorant one here but I've only heard
>OF Belly and hardly at all at that.. who are they, what do they sound
>like, where did they come from, etc

Belly is Tanya Donnelly's band. She was briefly a member of Throwing
Muses before then and I believe she is somehow related to Kristin Hersh,
though I may be wrong. Belly's first came to my attention around 1992 I
think..whenever 'Feed The Tree' from their first album Star was released
as a single. A lot of people prefer their second album King, but Star is
the one that I fell in love with. Haunting and twisted and at times angry
and always beautiful, it's an odd little album. 'Untogether' is my
favourite of their songs, though the entire album is great. Tanya has
also had a solo career with more a more acoustic sound. I don't think
I've heard any of their B-Sides, so another might be knowledgeable about
the band than I. I heard a while back that the Muses were reuniting for a
tour and album...anyone know more?

Matt:
> what a great voice liz fraser has. wow.

Wow indeed. She's quite the siren. I loved her when I heard 'This Love',
but it wasn't until 'Alice' and 'Persephone' that I heard how her voice
can soar. No wonder Jeff Buckley loved her. Her voice alone is divine.

Roxanne:
> I saw Gosferd Park (Spelling) the other day, soooooooo boring.

I know! Robert Altman seems to suffer from Woody Allen syndrome. And I'm
not talking about Asian girls.:p
Now that it's so trendy for actors to be in his movies, it's all about
cameos and big casts and the plot, if there is one, sinks through the floor.

Yay for Rebecca's Playing By Heart reference. I love that movie!

Rebecca:
> the way Tori emphasized particular words, I heard it as it's *time* that
>you loved, as in the person in the song feels time running out and
>cleaves to it.

I had similar feelings on the song. Her emphasis on 'Time' made it seem
like a character in itself....like one of The Endless.

My cd care tip: Don't leave cds close to the front door. Whether they are
in their cases or not, it never fails that any cd within 5 feet of my front
door gets ruined. Either by a delivery man stepping on it or the
wonderful way that fast food drink cartons collapse just as I step
inside. Argh.

Brian:
> Or try being a writer, only to see your book that you'd been slaving over
>for years serialized in a national newspaper without your
> permission and before you could find a publisher? What makes it
> different for musicians?

I agree...to a certain extent. I think the difference is that sometimes
sound has a longer life span than visual. I mean that a good song is
listened to more than once. Whereas a good book may only be read once. If
that makes sense. I think that the artists should have the right to
choose how their music is distributed. My problem is when the record
company or others involved step in and decide for them. Because these are
the very companies that are keep radio playlists so limited. I feel that
having their music spread out this way usually helps an artist's career.
Because it helps build a fan base they most likely would not have the old-
fashioned way. I don't think that a person's art, in any form, should be
taken away from them in that it automatically doesn't belong to them
anymore. But I do think art should be shared, that appreciation can
breathe life into it. And as I said before, I don't think full albums
should be downloaded. But getting one or a few mp3s from an artist is like
reading excerpts from an author's books...it gives you a sample of their
work and encourages you to buy it. I'm more likely to buy a book if it
has a plot summary, or better yet an excerpt. To help me know what lies
beyond the packaging and critic reviews.
But that's my opinion. I may have a different opinion if I were a musician.

Cyndi:
>I personally think that to *some* degree.. every human
>being has "attention seeking syndrome".. we all want it.. some of us just
>crave it more than others.. even people who say they don't like
>attention.. somewhere, want attention of SOME kind--like maybe they just
>hate crowds, but love one-on-one attention, for example..

I think that's true. Oh I'm sure there are some that really don't want
attention, but we would never see them because they would live alone away
from the rest of humanity. I don't consider myself an attention seeker,
offline at least. I hate crowds, can't stand any situation where I have to
walk in front of other people, I don't like to be looked at, I just want to
blend in and not be noticed, etc....yet I can't get enough attention from
my boy and I often feel neglected by my family. Online I'm quite the
attention seeking whore. I think that part of the reason that some of
become so obsessed with certain celebrities or singers is that we see
someone that we can relate to, either through their personality or
background or lyrics and they are famous, they are getting attention. It
may not be envy, but it's a vicarious sensation to absorb ourselves in
everything about them.

>Megan then mentioned Run Lola Run as one of her favorite movies.. I SAW
>THAT ONE in my video productions 101 class.. IT RULED!!

Have you seen The Princess and The Warrior? Lola was better, but P&W had
some of the same choices vs. fate themes. Franka Potente is so cool. And
have you heard her songs? Sexy voice.

Succubus Barbie Megan:
>Currently I am listening to the Speedracer Porno Remix. It's hilarious.

I didn't even know! The original theme song was suggestive in itself. I'm
reminded of a rather bad porn story someone once sent me. Using Different
Strokes and Punky Brewster in that manner should be illegal. Or maybe not...

Why did The House of Yes get such a bad rep? It's not the most brilliant
film, but it is one fucked up little distraction. Parker Posey is my god.

Ade [re: Hedwig]:
>yesterday i listened to the soundtrack 3 times, and i made several people
>watch it

I love the soundtrack, though I think Hedwig's voice sounded better in the
movie. I thought Hansel was delicious. Tommy Gnosis wasn't bad either, when
we wasn't being a bitch. Though I think a few friends got creeped out when
I included 'Angry Inch' on mixes. 'my sex operation got botched...'

In a similar yet completely different way, I loved the Buffy musical!

thank goodness for RDTRN archives.. yeah baby, yeah! lol.. see what
happened was.. I replied to the RDTRN from the day before and then my
stupid mouse hit the stupid delete button on this one and.. well let's just
say I had a few words to say.. anyway, here we go! WHEE!

our daily retro "on this day in RDTRN history" thingy said:"On August 5th
in 1992, ... news that a Tori compilation video tape is cancelled..."
at the time, um.. what EXACTLY were you referring to here? are you
referring to what ended up being the LE videos..? o_O

the RDTRN day in history then said: "In 1996, Nutella, rabbit rabbit,
gymnasts and health issues, reviews, and the list is for non-Tori
discussion too."
thank goodness, but was that its original intent when it first started
up? :D

Rebecca told about her experience at the Shins concert.. sounds like you
had fun! YAY! :)

Rebecca said of The Track Stars: "When everyone responded positively, do
you know what they did? They played it again. Then they asked if everybody
still liked it, and everyone did. So, do you know what they did? They
played it again. Not unlike the radio these days if you think about it."
you think maybe they were making fun of the way radio works, perhaps?

Rebecca then talked about the singer/guitarist of The Shins saying: "You
look sorta like her." (Tori)
     rofl.. SWEET! :)

Megan said: "Currently I am listening to the Speedracer Porno Remix. It's
hilarious. Seriously, download it, all you morally corrupt people out
there!"
er.... what's it sound like, where do I get it, and who did it?

YAY!! BETH'S BACK!! :) and she said: "Thanks to all who wished me well on
my vacation, even though I wasn't here to see those comments. We had a
really nice time. I feel all weird now - is this what being relaxed is
like? - and I don't want to go back to work."
yeah, that's what being relaxed (or lazy for those of us who already
are relaxed ;)) feels like.. it's normal. :)
Beth asked Rebecca (but I'll answer too):"I have turned to other media
for my personal expression: painting, photographs, collage, sewing, making
mix CDs, and other stuff. Do you have any other creative outlets?"
I make music videos out of stuff I've recorded off of MTV/VH1 or from
movies I've got on tape and so on.. does that count? :)

Matt said to me: "cyndi, when i have more time, i will respond to your
questions about belly, unless e or anyone else wants to do it first."
     YAY!!!!!!!! :)

Simon showed us the url of 100 songs to give away, and Ade responded:
"*smoke starts pouring from nostrils* WHAT?! how dare they insult my 2nd
favorite tori album like that! *scales form on arms, nails grow an inch*
they can kiss my squishy white ass! *grows a tail* and... whoah, i have a
tail? cool! well, you get the point of how annoyed that makes me. now i
better ex-dragon-morph before i incinerate my computer and have to type
this all over again."
dude that pissed me off too.. that whole list. I feel like emailing
him and asking "did you like those albums before you and your girlfriend
broke up, mister I-cant-get-laid-cuz-I-have-a-really-small-weiner?" yeesh,
but then maybe my musical taste is too diverse for my own good.. ya think?

Victoria said: "I had a bizarre dream last night that Neil Gaiman and
Cameron Crowe were making a movie of my life starring Angelina Jolie, using
Tori's lyrics as dialogue. Yes, I am insane." and Ade responded: "wowwww...
that would make an awesome movie..."
     I WANNA DIRECT IT!!!!!

okay.. that's all from me today! WHEE!! celebrate! :D
