On August 17th in 1993, members post about Kate Bush, discuss
the capitalised lyrics in the LE booklet, the fanclub (Upside
Down) and the fanzine (Really Deep Thoughts), and the Westwood
one show (still yet to air).
In 1995, the list is in stasis again.
In 1997, still no sign of Chris or the list.
In 1998, concert reviews, and a member reports hearing 'Icicle'
being played in the background of a documentary about raising
the Titanic.
In 1999, tour talk, more jabs at each other, more thoughts on
Bliss and 1000 Oceans.

I had a severe bout with depression. The doctor put me on Celexa. It takes
a week to two weeks to fully feel the effect. But, it helped me
dramatically. I was on it for about a year. It was not that strong and
didn't make me hyper or anything. You could also try going to GNC, they
have some natural stuff that could do the trick. I used to take them but I
don't remember what they were called. I'm sure you could ask the sales
clerk and they would help you. Whatever you decide, please let me know how
you get along.

I'm baaaack!! Kind of just popping my head in really. I
have been so incredibly busy lately and haven't even had
time to even skim through the digests. I didn't want to
write without knowing what was going on with the list, but I
also don't want everyone to forget about me either. :-)
Not much new is going on in my life, so this won't be that
interesting. My ex-boyfriend still won't leave me alone.
He shows up at my house in the middle of the night telling
me he loves me and he wants me back and he will get his shit
together for me. Blah, blah, blah! He always wants one
more chance or a week to prove himself. I told him he had a
week, but if he fucked up once, his week was up. His week
lasted about 15 hours. He calls my friends when he knows
I'm with them trying to get them to bring me to his house or
he'll show up where we are. My parents still call him. My
mom, stepdad and little brother bring their cars to him to
get fixed about once a week. My stepdad's there today. I
am bugged by this and have asked them to stop, but they
won't. Do I have the right to be upset by this? Anyways,
enough about him.
My little baby is starting kindergarten in 2 1/2 weeks!!! I
am not ready for this at all. I can't stop picturing him
being all grown up and hairy. I think I am having a bit of
seperation anxiety disorder and he's not even going
anywhere. Why can't they just stay little forever? I am
taking him school supply shopping this weekend and school
clothes shopping next week. I am taking the whole day off
work on his first day of school so we can go do something
fun after school. Maybe go to Camp Snoopy at the Mall of
America. He is getting so smart. He uses big words all the
time. He was with my friend, Troy, going to the water park
one day with a couple other kids and one of the kids hit
him. Tanner said, "Um, excuse me. You just hit me and I
don't like to be hit so I would appreciate if you didn't hit
me ever again." How cute is that? He has these funny
philosophies on life. They aren't always right, but I could
see how he would think they make sense. He told me the
other day that he was gonna live with me forever, even after
he has a wifeand kids. I'm sure his wife would really
appresiate that. He is just so sweet and fun. Okay, I'm
sure you guys are getting bored with my gushing, so I'm out.
PS - I told you it wouldn't be that interesting.

I can't say if this is the criteria "Worth Magazine" uses but I think
charities are often judged by how efficiently they use their money. RAINN
to quote the website "More than 88 cents of every dollar raised is spent
directly on services for victims of sexual assault, making RAINN one of the
most efficient charities in the U.S. Your generous help today is much
needed, and appreciated."
Less than 60% spent on the actual service is usually the sign of a charity
that wastes money on such thing as higher salaries. So, 88 cents or 91$ per
100$ according to Worth magazine is quite high.

The only standard I've seen used (and I admit it's not something I pay a
lot of attention to) is what percent of the money they raise actually goes
to the cause in question, and how much of it goes to overhead and to
further fundraising.
Victoria said:

I think I read somewhere that it's an album of standards. I don't object
to albums of covers (obviously), but I think it's a wee bit early in her
career for that.
> It's a long bizarre tale and I don't think it belongs here. Maybe.
Well, that decision is up to you, of course, but I think it's exactly the
type of thing which does belong here. There are people here with all kinds
of different experiences with depression and medication and related topics.
I can almost guarantee a diversity of opinion, no matter what you're
considering. :-)

He's extremely attractive, always has been. And he moves really well, too.
I'm a member of BowieNet, though I'm not always active there, and his
messages and journal entries (yes, he has an online journal) are
wonderfully wry and often heartfelt. He and Iman posted a message after
September 11 (they live in lower Manhattan) which I found quite moving.
(It amused me when they married and some people complained about "aging
rockers marrying young supermodel wives," since the supermodel wife in
question is only six months younger than I am.)

okay, I'm such an idiot. I tried to write here while half-smashed
(but not drunk) and didn't get any replies done.. *note to self: never
attempt to do RDTRN when sipping on peppermint schnapps*
on with the replies!
hee hee.. the Aug. 15 Retro said: "On August 15th in 1992, a member posts
that a Tori long-form video (the LE video) is not cancelled, just delayed
on Tori's part (yes, this is the eventual LE video)."
ha.. did you do that for me? lol
Julie asked: "How do you advertise your birth date? What are everyone's
birth dates on here?"
well, the info on how to get your birthday announced is at the
bottom of every RDTRN post.. just scroll down past the digest title of
the day and you'll see info like where to see archives, get your birthday
announced, and so on.
Megan the Succubus Barbie said: "Now I want to go to Afghanistan and give
people televisions. Is that so wrong?"
give 'em books and blue pepsi too, and I'll be satisfied.
Matt pondered: "now how the heck do you judge good and bad charities?"
well.. methinks.. firstly.. judge on whether they've been
involved in any money squandering etc scandals, stuff like that.. and
then judge on just how much that charity is involved--how many calls or
donations have been made by it.. and so on.. that's my guess at least.
Victoria basically explained to us that she is going to try an
antidepressant, etc: "I was just wondering if anyone had info or
recommendations on anti-depressants."
um, first, get a reliable doctor of course.. secondly.. I hear
Zantax is good..
Victoria said then: "Nah, MTV only plays Tori videos once and then the
video storage elves steal them away."
um.. from what I've seen, they're more likely to play Michael
Jackson than her, and they almost NEVER play HIM! :P damn it, I WANT MY
TORI MUSIC VIDEOS!! O_O
Rebecca posed an interesting thought on the "real man" debate.. on what
makes a real woman. I think what makes a real woman is honesty, for
starters.. women who don't feel the need to lie (unless their lives or a
loved one's life depended on it, but that's different.) or cheat (unless
it's a cheat code or two on a game--like The Sims or Grand Theft Auto 3
;) ) or steal, or harm and backstab innocent people.. are real women to
me.
John mentioned Rocky and Bullwinkle.. DUDE! I saw reruns of that on
Nickelodeon YEARS ago! what about Underdog, remember him??
for Julie: this is from the end of a digest in case you keep missing it,
or in case you wanna do it NOW instead of scrolling ALL the way to the
bottom..

Or, as SARK put it, "splendidly imperfect." There is really no such thing as
a perfect person. Everyone's got flaws, and in fact I think people's flaws
in general make them more interesting - especially if they're aware of and
working to repair those flaws that can be changed.

Matt asked about how you judge good charities. I would say that the
quality of the charity is how much they return to the intended recipient
versus how much they kept for admin costs. The larger they give the
recipients vs. admin equals better charity
