there's a news flash being shown on vh1 now and then which features a
snippet of an interview with tori. i managed to tivo it this morning.
here's a transcript of what was said:
[announcer standing in front and to the side of a tv monitor
displaying the half-shot of Tori. the image is actually a
polaroid with tori's half face along the side with the thicker
border. "Tori Amos Scarlet's Walk" is written along the thick
border]
Announcer: Tori Amos' upcoming new CD, Scarlet's Walk, is a
concept album about a roadtrip across America. Among the
observations made on the trip is the prevelance of misoygny and
homophobia in pop culture.
[cut to Tori, wearing a pinkish, off-the-shoulder on one side
shirt]
Tori: There's a lot of, um, I guess you could say, similar
ideaology between the right-wing and some young hipsters. You
know, it's just like Jesse Helms in tattoos.
[cut back to announcer]
Announcer: Scarlet's Walk hits stores October 29th. For more
music news, go to VH1News.com,. I'm Rachel Perry.
alas, i'm not equipped to do screenshots or video capture...sorry...

Perhaps this is my fault, but that isn't exactly correct...
I wasn't, for instance, tanning myself in aruba.
I was taking care of some personal business and got caught in a bad
situation. As the situation got worse, I found myself with no money, no
access to the internet and unable to make a simple telephone call for 2
weeks. As soon as I was able to make contact with the states again I
instructed someone to enter my email account and send the necessary files
to the necessary people.
During this time I saw some people killed, stepped over some bodies and
thanked God they weren't me.
When I finally managed to get back, I read with some confusion the events
that had taken place while I had been gone, even sent out a list (unaware
of what exactly had transpired) and then fell into a happy calm when I
found that Violet had taken over the list. That happy calm is where I
still sit now.
I just wouldn't want anyone to think that I didn't take my
responsibilities seriously and I'm sorry if I led everyone to believe
that.
I'm not being mysterious on purpose, but as the business was personal and
I've not told anyone of it, I still think Violet would deserve the first
reading before I blurted it out on the list. I hope you understand.

there's a setlist and photos from tori's alice appearance available now at
<url: http://www.radioalice.com/ >. during the appearance, tori said that
the current plan was to start the tour in november, tentatively on the east
coast and be on the west coast come december. the tour will just be her,
john evans and matt chamberlain.
following that guest dj spot, tori also made a very brief appearance on
star 101.3 <url: http://www.star1013fm.com/main.html >. they played "a
sorta fairytale" and tori reiterated the tour information, adding that it
is planned to start in early november.
as richard handal pointed out earlier today, this is shaping up to be an
intense radio onslaught, so please keep your ears out for any additional
appearances. the chances of toriamos.com or any other official source
posting an itinerary is zero to nil, so it's going to take 100% groundwork
by the fans to get the word out. thanks!

Subject: Icicle, Titanic.. huh!
okay you guys.. I have to start posting more frequently. I've GOT
TO. and just so you don't worry--I'm not all despairingly depressed
anymore. That whole post about my Tori/Michael Jackson guilt still
stands, (it's likely that I'll still get pangs of "guilt" about it.. just
hopefully not as bad as that one) but I was having a miserable night. I'm
much happier now. :) anyway, having said that, ON WITH THE REPLIES! :)
the retro said: "In 1998, concert reviews, and a member reports hearing
'Icicle' being played in the background of a documentary about raising
the Titanic."
why did I JUST NOW get the association to that (even if it was
unintentional) and the Titanic? ya know.. iceberg sinks the Titanic.. so
they play Icicle during a documentary talking about it being raised..
interesting.. and.. also.. has anyone ever noticed that the entire
beginning of Icicle (up until Tori starts singing) sounds like it COULD
be used in a movie as "sitting around the waiting room and worrying
without being panicky" music, or is it just me and my whole "I wanna be a
director!" attitude? lol
Deadra suggested to Victoria on a few antidepressants as well as going to
a health store to check out some all-natural stuff.. I'd highly suggest
that, too--the all natural stuff I mean.. cuz sometimes, loading your
body down with lab-made chemicals isn't exactly a good thing to do.
Megan S. wrote about her ex boyfriend not leaving her alone.. erm.. is
this the guy you met at that wedding?? o_O
Megan S. then asked of her family still going to her ex for car help, if
it was all right to be bothered by this.. I say yes, it's okay.. your
family going to him like this is kinda keeping his finger in the pie, so
to speak.. tell them to *QUIT*. you need to break things off completely
with this guy if he can't be an ex boyfriend and remain friends with you
(and that means putting a stop to the "forgive me and take me
baaaaaaack!" crap, too). Tell your family this too if you have to.. but
whatever it takes, make them stop going to him--at least for a long
enough time for him to REALIZE that you're not going back to him.
e, I hope your trip to the beach was a blast! :)
from that article that woj posted in here: "Epic Records
(http://www.epicrecords.com) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Music
Entertainment."
ACK!! if I were a "good" Michael Jackson fan, then that would
mean I wouldn't be allowed (what with the bullcrap "boycott" going on) to
buy Tori's new album! EEEK!
Beth said: "There is really no such thing as a perfect person. Everyone's
got flaws, and in fact I think people's flaws in general make them more
interesting - especially if they're aware of and working to repair those
flaws that can be changed."
I like physical imperfections a lot. They make a person--to me at
least--even more beautiful.
To Lisa who is unsubbing for a while.. *sniffle* I didn't get to know
you, I don't think, but it's always sad when someone has to unsub even
for a while! *whimper* we'll miss you!
those.. "quotes" I guess, from Brad.. I don't get it.. o_O forgive me for
being a little dim-brained today. I went to SLEEP at 7AM last night and
my dad (who, yesterday, told me he thinks Tori is... *horrors* the
ugliest woman he's ever laid eyes upon--I think he's gone blind,
personally.) woke me up at noon today. :P *shakes head*
Bethany said: "just went to see my (well, really my parents')
godchild..."
if he's your parents' godchild, then he's your godbrother! ;) as
for dogs.. YES! GET ONE! I love dogs. :D
Simon said in reply to my post of feeling sleep-deprived: "I've been
feeling like that myself lately. Not sure *why*, but it feels like hours
of sleep somehow aren't enough of a good rest. Sometimes a feeling of
"blah" just sort of creeps in."
EVERYBODY I know this last week has been having a general feeling
of.. well.. feeling like shit.. very curious, indeed.. *frowns*
Simon said in reply to the "fan-snubbing" event in which, Tori supposedly
hurled flowers given to her to the floor: "Was this ever confirmed?
Seems out of character for her (read: damnable slanderous lie perpetrated
against her)"
I dunno. I mean.. I'm sure she wouldn't do that with her FAN in
mind, and I'm more than sure she thanked him for the flowers and was
sweet and so on.. but perhaps she was just.. suddenly pissed off at Eric
or something.. and it took over and she went "GRR!" and threw the flowers
down, and so on.. I mean.. with Eric in mind, if I were her, and things
fell apart THAT badly.. and if I did that (threw the flowers down) I'd at
least say, afterwards, to the fan something like.. "thanks the flowers,
it's not your fault I threw 'em down like that. It's ERIC'S FAULT!" or
something to that effect at least..
Simon said in reply to my feelings of SLG: "One should crave to hear all
tori albums with the same level of intensity."
I know, I know.. I'm getting there.. honest! :)
Simon THEN pondered: "would we get more accurate film reviews if critics
versed in a particular genre reviewed the movies that fell within their
field of expertise."
I definitely think so.. but diversity helps too.. like a sci-fi
fan watching Cruel Intentions for example.. to at least broaden horizons,
etc.. *shrug* that's just me tho.. I do think that critics who primarily
review movies that are in their taste, might do better.
Simon said of my music videos I sent to him: "the videos you showed me
are really good. amazing what you can do *without* professional video
gear :)"
damn right! did I mention that I made a Hey Jupiter video using
various Tori footage clips along with the original HJ video? :) if not,
then you know now. right now, I'm working on a video of random footage
(Tori included of course ;)) for Juarez. :)
Simon said in reply to my rant about my old church (that I don't want to
go back to anymore) and their bent-the-wrong-way beliefs of Mormonism:
"great comments on religion and uninformed criticism."
yeah.. my mom has said it before, a lot.. but.. I totally believe
in it: KNOW YOUR ENEMY. if God wants me to kill.. get rid.. or talk trash
about somebody, I'm gonna do research on the person first, doggone it.
Okay, I wanna end this on a pleasant note.. more of a question,
really.. isn't there a guitar on the original album cut of Crucify? cuz I
swear I hear it (is the piano playing with it?) in the beginning and I
can kinda hear a semi-feedback whine kinda starting in as Tori is singing
"..but then I get afraid of what that could bring..".. is it me and my
wacko self, or.. is it not? lol..
and with that, my dear fuzzilicious friends, CYA! :)

Subject: Snakes With Tongues That Whisper
Hola mes amies!
I did something just now that I haven't done in a while; I wrote a poem.
And not only that, a _rhyming_ poem! Ye Gods, when will the hurting
stop!?? It isn't the best I've written, but it isn't the worst, either.
Not by a long shot. So here goes. Take pity on me.
Title: Snakes With Tongues That Whisper
There's Jesus in the serpent
You must listen close to hear
It whispers out His secrets
So draw near, my son, draw near
The fangs are not so pretty
If they're seen from far away
The poison tastes so lovely
So obey, my son, obey
There's Jesus in the coils
And there's Jesus in the hiss
So draw the serpent closer
And be closer then to bliss
With scaled mouths stretched open
to bequeath sweet Heaven's gift
See the venom falling
In a constant precious drip
Accept the love of Jesus
As the fangs break through the skin
May you go straight to Heaven
Say 'Amen', my son, 'Amen'
Yep. You guessed it. Inspired by the music video for GOD, by Tori Amos.
I don't understand snake cults. Why would they want to hold snakes? Does
it make them feel special or get them closer to god or what? Why would you
want to hold something that could easily hurt you?
Does anyone here know anything about snake cults? Anyone willing to share?

okay, FIRST of all.. thank you, EVERYBODY (so far) for the
replies to my little PMS-inspired guilt-trip rant. It's been a few days
now and while I'd always had those MJ/Tori-related pangs of guilt, it
hadn't hit me that hard until that day.. well, I'm pretty much over it
(at least in terms of it hitting me so hard I can't see straight)..
thanks for the replies and everything. :)
now on to MY replies!
Simon said: "check out the links in Cyndi's sig. they're pretty cool :)"
yeah, check 'em out! :D (rofl.. I couldn't resist. ;))
Simon then said to my "give 'em books & blue pepsi!" reply: "no, pepsi
violates arms control treaties because it's a known biological weapon.
send them Coke instead!"
eep! regular coke.. make sure it's regular coke.. not diet.. if
you mix diet coke with gasoline, you can get napalm.. gotta make sure
it's not diet!
Matt thanked us for our help on the charities rating thing.. you're
welcome! :)
Cheefooska offered me some words.. referring to getting a laugh from my
mentioning that my rant was thanks to PMS (I'm okay now, btw. :)) : "...I
hope this doesn't sound offensive but I laughed a bit when I read what
you wrote, it's just that all the women in my family go berserk when
suffering from PMS..."
nope, I'm not offended. :D *grin*
cheefooska on the MJ fanaticism, etc: "...once you get a distance from
your obsession you can ask yourself: why should you care about him
personally? I mean, what the artist really gives us is the art and in
MJ's case his music hasn't been so good lately, THAT might be a good
reason to be sad... but... I don't know.<
oh, no.. what's got me is.. Tori seems to be taking over--and
while I'm perfectly happy with that, it means making MJ move over to make
room for her.. I was a fan for SEVEN YEARS.. *long* time.. I love his new
album, just to get the record straight.. but I haven't listened to it in
months. I have not ever felt the urge to.. even the times I did listen to
it was like "hmm.. I have nothing else I want to listen to." and that was
before I had Tori in my CD case.
cheefooska then said: "...but Michael Jackson can't call anyone a racist,
I mean forgive me if you do, but I don't buy his skin disease story...
who else has gone from black to white in the world?!?<
you don't see it often, no, but the way I see it, is.. he DOES
have a skin disease, it's called vitiligo.. but if anything, he's
suffered from that, and *then* finally went "fuck it." and bleached the
rest of his skin out so that it'd look less blotchy and so he wouldn't
have to mess with his makeup evening and evening and evening everything
out. that's just me tho. and the plastic surgery.. I used to vehemently
defend the man over it.. but now, I don't bother. my friend (who used to
be a hardcore MJian also) has studied to become a psychologist, and she
learned that MJ shows symptoms consistent with body dysmorphia.. and if
you guys dunno what that is, ask me and I'll explain in a later post.
cheefooska then offered: "I don't know, maybe the thing that made you sad
was that your friends are still hard core fans and you don't really care
that much about yourself not being a fan but about yourself not being
PART OF IT.<
that sounds about right.. some of my friends I knew back in the
day are still hardcore.. hell, one of them got to meet MJ like more than
five times.. I posted to the "#mjfans reunion" list that I'm on (it was,
back in its heyday, just like this is--we talked about everything
including MJ.) about the boycott, basically saying "I don't get it. it
doesn't make any sense to me, and all it sounds like to me is MJ making
an ass out of himself and being childish.".. and well, miss "I've met
Michael Jackson twenty thousand billion times" jumped down my throat,
screaming "STOP TRYING TO PUT A BAD SPIN ON THE BOYCOTT!" I truly felt
singled out. Lucky me, the other people on the list replied in my
defense, but I still felt like an outcast, regardless.. and it was almost
a feeling of "This is almost Tori's doing. I'm so into Tori that I don't
care about Michael anymore, and it's making me feel like an outcast."
That's not to say I hated Tori for it, (heck, I think I LOVE her for it..
or at least in THAT subject matter, I *will*.) but I sure felt guilty
about liking her for *THAT* reason, for a while.
Victoria said: "Have you forgotten how cool David Bowie is? Cos I did.
Until I was making a mix for an online friend. Ziggy rocks."
David Bowie is definitely a living legend, I say. :D I may not
own any albums, but I do hear his songs on the radio and MTV, etc.. he is
certainly something I enjoy a lot when it's on.
Victoria then gave us a summary of her story that seems to be the root of
her problems.. *shakes head* well, I say.. at least you got a good
husband out of it. :) too bad about the rest of the story though, that's
really bad--and I wish I could think of something more to say to it than
"that's really bad", but my brain seems to have shut down on me AGAIN.
Dalshe also offered me some words in reply to my rant: "As far as the
Michael Jackson dilemma goes, the man has been out of touch with reality
for decades now."
yeah, I just didn't notice it until he started ranting against
Sony. ridiculous.. and that's part of my guilt trip, in fact. in the
seven years that I was a fan, I was one of the fans who defended him
every time someone even made a funny look when it came to him.. and over
the last three years, I've slowly quit doing that.. and it's kind of
hard--to me at least--to ACCEPT that I'm moving on to other things. (in
this instance, Tori.)
Dalshe then suggested: "My opinion is that a lot of entertainers are
total bastards as people and creative geniuses when it comes to their
work."
good point, good point.. my best friend (who is/was a fan of MJ
also) and I talked on the phone today for a couple of hours, and one of
the things we discussed (we discuss a LOT of stuff) was how iffy MJ's
personality seems to be. Talk about his music, and he brightens up and is
real. Talk about his love of children and it seems like his eyes glass
over and he starts to sound like a robot.
also: "..With Jackson, some people miss the talented little kid, or
reminisce over the Thriller glove and jacket era."
I liked the Bad/Dangerous/HIStory era. :)
Ade said: "oooh yesterday's ren fest was awesome... got FAIRY wings,
they're all rainbowy and glittery and have these clear jewels on them...
$57 but i love them!"
wear 'em and take a pic of it for us!! :)
Ade said in reply to my "what makes a real man?" question: "a real man
has the courage to fight a dragon and the compassion to save a kitten
from drowning."
I envision that as.. a man with a rough hand, but a gentle touch,
for some reason.. nice answer, Ade! :)
Ade then said of packing for college: "...i started writing a list of
stuff i need, and i think i may need to do a bit of shopping."
you absolutely MUST NOT forget the RAMEN NOODLES. PERIOD. that is
a large, LARGE part of a college student's diet (as they're so cheap..
*snicker* and yummy.. *drool*). :D oh and Ade, did ya have funnnnnn in
Vermont???? :)
Sincerely, Cyndi S. Crawford

Which Tori song do you relate to the most? Please explain why.
Mine is "Bells For Her" because it in some form reminds me of a heartbreak
that I've had by losing my ex-best friend that betrayed me. I still miss
her to death but she was wrong. I feel like in some way that song brings
back memories. You know, Tori said, "Everyone has a different relationship
with the songs."
