[ =======================> In RDT History <======================= ]
On August 30th in 1992, a member reports that 'Pulse!' - the
Tower redcords magazine - mentions a Tori video collection as a
new release.
In 1994, a member posts about Tori's comment re: dating from
the Greg Kinnear show (i.e. no reference to Eric), reviews, a
report on the second European Torifest, and a member reports on
Tori's appearance on KITS-FM (he was in the small audience at
the studio):
When the program resumed Tori mentioned that she records at
different hours of the day, because of how her voice sounds
at that particular time. For example, she recorded "Strange
Fruit" (from the "Cornflake Girl" Ltd Ed) at 5:30 in the
morning because she needed her voice to sound a particular
deep way. Being that her concerts are at night, Tori knows
that some songs just "won't happen".
In 1998, 6 degrees of Tori, 'weaker'/'simpler' songs, and Tori
dreams.
In 1999, more comments on various TVAB songs.
In 2001, differences between love and lust, menstruation and
tampons.

hello
so i've been gone for a month, and now i'm back in my apartment, which is
so great, and classes start in a week, which is also so great. today i
helped my friend who is still living on campus paint her tiny room, and now
i'm sitting in my underwear in my large, large multi room apartment.
so i haven't read any of the rdtrns that i missed, which is about 15, so
i'm just going to say hey, i'll be reading again regularly to find out what
you all are up to.
here are some things that i have done over the past month:
1) been latvian.
2) become addicted to american idol.
3) lost 10 pounds (well, that took 3 months)
4) took a roadtrip from fairfield, ct, down I-95 to key west.
5) quit smoking (i think. ha.)
and much more.
justin guarini sucks.

To me, the worst thing about the fall of a civilization is that most of
their good sayings are lost forever. Like what if the Aztecs had a saying,
"Don't eat corn on the day you are born"? We could use that saying today,
but now we don't have it. Thanks, Cortez.

Hi all,
I just got some good news from Gabriela Kulka, who recently left the list...
she has put together a CD of her music, which people can now buy at mp3.com.
It includes all originaly material written by her (except for a version of
"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen") and some new songs that haven't been up on
her mp3.com page before.
I really like a lot of her stuff - and I know some of you guys do too - so I
thought I'd pass it on.

TORI AMOS Added 8/22
Tori Amos has a new album on the way for her legions of fans.
Due out on October 29th is Scarlet's Walk, an album that can be
described as one person's journey of America and their own
"bodymap" as Tori would say. The first single to come from the
forthcoming release is "a sorta fairytale"-- a realistic love
story of sorts about finding who you think is your soul mate.
"By the end of it -- once they masks have come down and they see
who each other really is, not the fantasy of who each other is --
then, they decide that they don't know why... 'cause there's
enough love, but there's not enough something else and they
don't know what that something else is. So, they part. And,
that's why it's only 'A Sorta Fairytale'." Was it a personal
account? That's for the listener to figure out when Scarlet's
Walk hits the stores. Look for the artist to take another
journey of America when she tours starting this fall. And a
happy birthday to the artist -- today she turns 39.

Mel. :) happy bday! :)
Okay.. so I'm at http://sexualrecords.com/sexterm.html .. it's a
dictionary of sex-related terms.. lol.. and I saw succubus in there.. and
it said: "SUCCUBUS: A female demon who seduces men in their sleep." I so
TOTALLY did not know that! Megan, you, the Succubus Barbie of the group..
I'd been calling you that all this time and I didn't know what it meant!!
o_O gawwwwwwlee! anyway..
ON WITH THE REPLIES!! :)
the RDTRN retro said: "In 1999, a member reports that the term 'liquid
diamonds' is used in the Sandman comic "A Game Of You"..."
ya know, only recently, I thought of Liquid Diamonds.. as like..
a reference to water drops.. whether they were tears or just dripping
water.. what do you guys think?
Woj gave us more Tori news.. and has been supplying us with lots, these
days.. so I thought I'd say.. "thank you Woj!!" :)
Bethey said: "I don't know what a real man is. Every man I've ever known
is really a little boy in disguise."
shame, ain't it? all the good guys are taken, or not our type,
etc.. and what do we do with the rest? lol
Ade: GOOD LUCK WITH COLLEGE!!!!!! you'll survive. :)
John said of the uprising of the almighty hot dog: "Hot dogs are cheap.
The economy sucks. People are more broke than usual, and more worried
about money than usual. So, they're buying more hot dogs."
good point.. but my dad bought like fifty in a pack once.. or..
25, anyway.. Ballpark brand. I went to Kroger, got some relish.. chopped
some onions.. put that on.. put ketchup and mustard on.. pretty damn
good, but MAN! (Mom was visiting some family with my bro's wife for a
week--we basically didn't cook until she came home) I was about ready to
puke at the mere sight of one after that. ugh! and Ballpark is the GOOD
brand!
Matt said: "i'm listening to "a sorta fairytale" via toriamos.com and i'm
all churned up inside, all jelly in my stomach."
I heard that too! dude.. it sounded verrrrrrry nice. I'm still
gonna wait till the video comes out tho. :P and the album too of course..
I like waiting till Christmas even if I can't stand the suspense! >_<
and on that note.. *BELCH!* (I've been really getting into
Animaniacs lately.. I loved 'em when they were on TV regularly, still
love 'em now, and have a friend who's got episodes on tapes, converts 'em
to WMV, and sends them to me. Needless to say, if Wakko were real and I
knew him, he'd definitely be my drinking buddy. :D )

Subject: popping up again
Here I am posting again. I haven't gotten a chance to read
much at all, but I am trying to find the time to skim
through the digests at least.
To those of you who asked, yes, the ex was the one I was
dating earlier this year, the one I hooked up with at the
wedding. I still have to see him all the time because we
have all the same friends. He has actually taken to driving
by my house in the middle of the night to see if I have
anyone over. How do I know this? HE TOLD ME!!! Not only
is he stalking me, but he isn't ashamed of it. He will talk
about it right in front of our friends. He told me 2 nights
ago, after following me home from the bar we were at, that
he was in this state of chaos which made him break up with
me because he doesn't feel settled and won't until his house
is done. He has a new house that's being built. Then, he
goes on to tell me that once his house is done, he wants me
and my son to move in with him so we can really start our
life together. HELLO!! We're broken up. Aren't those the
kind of plans you make when you are together and things are
going really well? I am really heartbroken about how it all
ended up, though. I really did love him, the old him.
Anyways, enough of that.
How excited am I for the new CD to come out. I am feeling
so left out of this one because I don't have a computer with
sound on it and no radio stations in my area play Tori, that
I'm aware of, so I haven't even been able to hear the new
song. Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!! Not to mention that I
don't have time to read any of the digests or look anything
up on the internet so I am mostly in the dark about what's
going on. I am scared I am going to miss the pre-sale for
the concert. I hope they do that again. I know it wasn't
fair because a lot of people get screwed out of tickets, but
I got them so it was a good thing for me.
I went to my 5 year class reunion a couple weekends ago.
First of all, it was pointless because nobody that I don't
see all the time around Burnsville was even there.
Everybody is still doing the same things with the same
people as in high school. It just reminded me how much I
don't miss high school. Some people gained weight and some
people lost weight. That was about the only difference.
Don't know if I'll go to any more of those. We did have
fun, though.
I just read Brad's last post and can't decide if it was
meant to be really bitter or if that's just how I took it.

First of all, I'm glad to see that you're getting
help, and I hope everything works out for you. :-)
A girl that I work with is on Effexor... she had both
depression and anxiety (well, more stress than
anxiety), both of which are soooo vastly improved.
This chick is so upbeat, and yet she doesn't feel that
it's an artificial happiness from the drug (which is
what I've heard from some people on Prozac).
And as a sidenote, I was at first amazed that they
said it could possibly only take four days for you to
feel effects... for it to really work at its full
effectiveness, it should take about 3-4 weeks. So
stick with it for a bit, and if it doesn't work for
you, there are plenty of drugs out there for
depression and anxiety.
I'm actually really excited about Effexor, because
it's a reuptake inhibitor for both serotonin and
norepinephrine, which are two major brain chemicals.
Since some people respond to only one or the other,
it's kinda cool that they have a drug that knocks down
two birds with one stone. So yeah, let us know how it
works for you. :-) Good luck!
~Linda~
PS- If you have any questions, feel free to email me
directly... I'm a superdork these days when it comes
to anything remotely dealing with serotonin, because
I'm doing my graduate work in a lab headed up by *the*
"serotonin man". And I *love* my work and talking
about it, and I think everyone I know is sick of
hearing about it. YAY!

Good news. Have you thought about my suggestion about exercise?
(I emailed Victoria, including a quote from Andrew Weil, where he said that
the best single treatment for depression that he was aware of was 30
minutes a day of vigorous exercise, which corresponds to my experience.)
I think that the mind and the body have to be involved in the treatment,
since both are certainly involved in the illness.

I'm familiar with that.
Well, if you do get into a hyper phase, at least you can get caught up on
all your unanswered emails. :-)
Bethey spoke of Tori on TV:
> (she talks about how 9-11 made everyone in the US feel how those who have
> been abused feel all the time,
Interesting, I never would have thought of that connection. Certainly a
lot of people felt that the violence would come again, and felt helpless to
control it.
> can't stop thinking about this old black woman he knew that
> used to panhandle outside.
Something that was pointed out at the time was that a lot of homeless
people lived in and around the Trade Center (I can certainly attest to
that, having worked across the street on the night shift for many years).
Initially there was no mention of this, and no attempt to account for them,
though that changed as time went on.
Just a couple of days ago, I found out that two homeless people who had
been assumed to be dead, killed on 9/11, are in fact alive. Both are
mentally ill, and one of them (currently in an institution) says he has no
idea if he was there or not.
Given how difficult it was for those of us who are classified as "sane," I
can't imagine the effect it might have had on somebody who was having
difficulties to begin with.
> My therapist said that only the people who were there should
> write survivor stories from that day.
A work of fiction? I think anybody can write one who wants to. That's
what imagination is for. My only qualm is people who use it for the wrong
reasons, to make a point that isn't justified by the events, or to make
themselves look good and sensitive and all.
But even they have the right, just as I have the right to think they're
opportunistic, self-serving, and/or wrong.
