On September 13th in 1993, "Winter" won the top ten Tori songs
poll.
In 1994, list members discuss the "Tori as Goddess" complex,
with mixed opinions.
In 1997, people ponder what happened to Chris Meyers,
clarifications on the nature of the faeries.
In 1998, list members discuss dream interpretations, Rammstein
and the seemingly perpetual six degrees of Tori.
In 1999, a news blurb from Salon.com is posted recounting
Tori's encounter with German guards at the Belgian border after
her friend got caught with pot and how she got out of it by
saying she's recorded with Phil Collins. Members also discuss
fish flavored snacks [which resulted in a fish-flavored
Subliminal Thought -- V.].
In 2001, members post their thoughts and immediate reflections
about the events of September 11th.

Also--along with the story I was telling you all before about that guy that
relates with "I'm Not In Love"...anyways, I have a lot of dreams about him
and right when we're about to kiss...I wake up! I think my dream is either
telling me to do it in real life, or to forget about ever doing it...as the

I am exhausted. I fell asleep at probably 8AM and then my
grandmother got here and woke me up at about noon.. Y A W N. tiredness.
hardcore. anyway, on with the replies! I've gotten a few emails (I won't
say from who) asking me to try to cut down on quoting the people I
respond to, so I'm going to try to do just that.. :)
Maria congratsed me on Bailey being born and me becoming an
aunt.. thanks! :D
Arija said: "while i'm sure lester bangs would disapprove of miss
lavigne, i don't, because this "punk" movement is really just about

that's what I've heard about the goth lifestyle too!! o_O (and no
I'm not a goth..)
Our favoriiiiiiiite Succubus Megan explained her reaction to a guy--first
guy she's ever dealt with--stating that he likes her.. and asked if any
of us remember the first time this kinda thing happened..
well, yeah.. thing is, most of the times that seems to count best
with me, the guy was someone I knew online. I have yet to deal with a guy
in real life (since starting college at least) doing that to me, though,
but I can understand your reaction very well, regardless.
Beth asked what in the world we should do on the 11th.. well.. I
have a kewl looking american-flag-printed bandanna.. I knew my mom (who
is a teacher at a middle school) was going to need to wear something with
red white and blue to work, so I hung it on the doorknob of the hall
closet for her.. I wrote a kind of a "reprise" to the song I'd written a
year ago ON the day of the attacks.. and I did that Yahoo memorial tile
thingy. other than that, I avoided anything and everything patriotic and
9-11 related and the like on television.. and I avoided listening to
songs (other than Tori of course.. ;) ) that sounded like something you
would sing in a crowd of people at a flag-waving candle vigil.. I
basically did nothing that required buying any of the stuff that people
are selling to try to nab up money with as well as stuff that the media
made a mention of.. because the commercializing and the
sensationalism-izing of the tragedy that happened in my country pissed me
off and jaded me, I think.. and I don't even know if I should feel bad
about that or not, but sometimes, I just don't give a damn.

Simon said: "Did you know that blue pepsi is made at the new bottling

yeahhhh dude, and coca cola is--most of it at least--bottled
right here in good ol' Atlanta? :D
on depression.. well.. my boyfriend has been diagnosed with depression..
and he actually told me he can't stand to pop his happy pills because
once, a boss basically just really knocked him down while he was on the
pills.. and he says later he was sitting in the break room grinning his
fool self away and thinking "damn it, I wish I was pissed off about
this!"
our resident sex god asked: "So is this place dead or what?"
not really.. seems like people like me and Megan and Megan and
Lavs and everybody else is just barely keeping the place alive by just a
little. :D
Matt asked: "anybody want to share any thoughts on the current
shall-we-shan't-we about iraq?"
my dad thinks that Bush is doing something his father shoulda
done--trying to finish the job. Me, I just plain hate war, pure and
simple. :P dunno what else to say about it other than that..
Ade said: "i refuse to be depressed on 9/11. ha! so there! i'm going
to be happy and say HI to people and stuff!"
YAAAAAAAAAY!!!! :D
e said his car stereo got stolen.. his moral of his stereo/cd
loss story? "rip your cd's. Rip'em all." my thoughts? "damn right!"
e then said that we look for punk in all the wrong places and listed a
few people who don't usually get categorized as punk.. I never thought of
NIN as punk.. angst and really good, maybe, but punk? huh! never thought
of it that way.. interesting. :)
my right upper lip is swollen!!! there's a zit riiiiiiiight on
the edge of it and it hurts, it's hot (heat-wise) and it's all swolled
up! (yeah yeah, "swolled" isn't a real word, who cares!!??) owies.
enough about me, though.. my grandmother's here and I have to go
entertain her. wheeee.... ciao!

Subject: September 11 recap
The day started off for me by seeing my letter to the editor on the Op/Ed
page in the Doylestown Intelligencer (the last paragraph of my last post
about "doing good works with a glad heart"), which pleased me. But I had no
time to read the paper, because I was going to do a marathon to be at
particular places at significant times to take pictures for my
photojournalism project. My first stop was the church where they were due
to ring the bell at 8:46AM. I wanted to get a shot of the bell-ringer, but
the church doors were locked and no one answered my knock. So the bells
went off and then the fire sirens went off, so off I went to the firehouse 4
blocks away. I took a picture of the engines sitting there, the flag at
half-staff, and then sneaked a shot inside showing the coats and boots lined
up on the wall.
Then it was off to the high school, 3 miles away, for the 9:03 moment of
silence. I took a picture of some kids through the window, but that was all
there was to see. The landscaper kept working on the weeds and mulch,
oblivious to the ringing of bells throughout the town. I then drove to
another fire house and got a nice shot of 5 uniformed firefighters in front
of their big engine. Off to the YMCA daycare and pictures of toddlers
playing, oblivious to the day, the way it should be with kids that young. I
finally reach the Post Office about 10:30, because I really wanted a shot of
the workers sorting mail (because of the whole anthrax thing).
Now, I'm well-known at this PO. Workers will see me at the store and tell
me I have a package waiting, or ask if I'm ok if I haven't picked up my mail
for a while. So I didn't think there would be any problem taking a few
shots. But the Postmaster General for the county was there that day and
denied me permission. It was a weird encounter. He told me my driver's
license looked nothing like me and he couldn't take any risks with the mail.
The workers who knew me just steered clear of the whole thing. So I gave up
and finally arrived home at 11:AM with over a hundred shots to download.
At noon I was at the VFW for a wreath and flag ceremony. The attendees
(apart from the local police force and firefighters) were for the most part,
the remaining members of "the greatest generation" (those of the WWII and
Korean eras). But it made for some wonderful pictures, the flags flapping
madly in the 40+mph gusts of wind, the old guys with their rifle salute, the
small contingent of Vietnam Vets Honor Guard. Another 150 shots went into
my computer that afternoon.
I took a rest and a bath that afternoon, sort of glancing at TV (but it was
soooo depressing), and really trying to prepare myself for whatever the
evening brought. I went to Main Street Theatre at 7PM (an hour before
things were scheduled) and was so please with what I found. The lobby was
littered with candles on every surface, a punch bowl and some plates of
sweet cakes were on the bar. The local high school art teacher had made a
display of four really powerful student drawings of the towers with a draped
flag and silk flowers arranged in a memorial fashion. About 30 people
showed up, all ages, and after a few songs by talented young guitar players,
I read a heavily edited edition of my 911 poem, which let reality into what
felt like a party gathering. Then my friend Jeremy started off the sharing
portion of the evening, by talking about what a year ago was like for him,
and how he worried about actors he knew in the city. It developed into a
wonderful group discussion of what it was like for us, how we cope, how
we've changed. Questions were raised about guilt over enjoyment, and the
feeling of needing permission to get back to "normal", or what Normal was
anymore. It was a satisfying evening, and ended about 10PM.
Then Jeremy and I went to the flag house. This Vietnam Vet two blocks from
my house, decided to honor what happened by planting 3056 white flags on his
lawn, each numbered, each representing a life lost a year ago. It really
proved to me how enormous our loss was, what that number really looks like.
When I was taking pics of it on Tuesday, it hit me as I was in the midst of
these flags. I had focused on a section that had the number 2183 facing me.
All of a sudden, it wasn't a number. It was a person. Each flag was a
person. Tears ran down my face as I understood, finally, what that many
lives look like. So it was only appropriate that I end the evening there,
holding a candle and singing "America the Beautiful". And that's what I
did.
It was an emotionally draining day, I felt completely overwhelmed by the
entire process of documenting the day. But I think once I cull through the
400 pictures I have, I will have a fine photojournalism final. It's just
the culling that I'm dreading now. But I must get to it, because the
Quakertown Free Press has asked for my photos of the gathering at MST.
Thanks for letting me share this day with you.
Fairy Blessings and
Peace,
Bethey

HIIIIII everybody! *waits for the "hi, Dr Nick!"....* oh wait.
I'm not Dr. Nick.. rofl.. anyway.. on with the replies we go!
The retro mentioned Margot Smith.. and Beth asked if anyone knows what
happened to her.. I'd like to know this myself..
Julie H. posted a very interesting story of her own to go with
the "I'm Not In Love" song.. very interesting.. :)
Jim posted a long and very thought-provoking post about
communities. I know I'm not saying much here, but I really enjoyed all of
this so don't think I just scrolled through. I read these.. anyway.. very
good thoughts, Jim. :)
Juan informed us that his birthday was on the 10th.. happy
birthday. :) I think the problem with the reminder list is.. don't you
have to go back every year to put the reminder in again?
NuttyBakerGirl offered some words in reply to my "I feel like I don't
care and I wonder if that's a bad thing to think that people should just
get over 9-11" ramble: "This country will never get over such a mass
murder, and I don't think we should. Yes, the news coverage is
aggrevating. I don't think they are helping the grieving process at all."
that's only PART of my problem with it. the other part is the way
people are sponging money off of this tragedy with the commercializing of
it all. now selling stuff and stating, clearly, that at LEAST part of the
profits go to charities related to rescue work and so on.. that doesn't
bother me, but all I've seen at my grocery store is basically "BUY ME!"
and nothing about what goes to charity or anything.
Megan explained her boy problem a bit further.. smart move there--being
just board game buddies until you get used to him.. I didn't think of
that idea myself.. good thing you did! o_0
Megan then said: "I've just alienated half the list by calling guys scary
so I'm going to shut up now and hide my head in the proverbial sand and
go away now, okay?"
guys ARE scary, Megan, it's just that some of them (hopefully
most of the ones on this list.. ;) ) are able to use their good qualities
to the max as a way to ward off that scariness.. I mean seriously, (mind
you, this is coming from a virgin!) what's scarier than a penis? o_O;;
not much, I say!
on that note... buh-bye for now! :)
Sincerely, Cyndi S. Crawford

hey everybody! how is it going?!
Matt asked us to give our opinion about iraq:
well, my guess is that diplomacy exists mainly to try to work these tensions
out. i hope mr. hussein realizes in time how big this tension is becoming and
lets the u.n. enter in iraq. on the other hand, someone should put a hand on
mr. bush, come on! he looks like a cowboy dividing the world in good and bad
people/countries/cultures. and he's too extreme sometimes, remember "either
you're with us or against us"... i know that being a portuguese i won't be too
affected with this (who wants to attack portugal, right?), but if indeed we
enter in a war i'll support u.s. and u.k., after all we, european, owe a
lot to
u.s. since they helped us in II world war...

Welcome back Coops.
You typed:
>Eh? What did I give you (besides your first born)? ;-)
>I can't ever remember sending you games, but it sounds like it might be a
>good idea if I send you a CD of patches for Microsoft software.
A CD with bits and bobs on it, namely version 5 of a certain image editing
program and windows games like tetris, tai pei and minesweeper. :) I'm
still working on upgrading a lot of stuff, after that I'll see what patches
we need.
And you think I'm the slut? It's the archives that get around, open to
advances from anyone :)
In the retro for Sept 12th Beth asked if anyone knows what happened to
Margot Smith. I'm sure it's her I saw at Woodford folk festival one year,
on the basis of what the program said about it (I've always found ot funny
reading her name in the archives since then). I actually wasn't all the
impressed with her (she may just have been having an off day). But that
would have around 93 or 94 anyway, and don't recall hearing of her since
really.
Roxanne, apple butter. Sounds like a recipie I need :)
Well, it was Tiarna's b'day today. She was a bit off, think she's got a bit
of a fever but it really comes and goes. I thought she was jsut quiet this
morning because despite how many times I'd told her, she still expected her
party today (it's Sunday at the park). But we went to Blackbutt to visit
the wallabies, birds, ducks and emus (kangaroos weren't as sociable) for
about an hour, then she slept for about 2 hours, in which time I got some
furniture painting done (The end of the road is near). Then we listened to
about 8 fairytales on cd (b'day present from grandparents), then shower
with Glenn once he came home from work. She wouldn't get out, so he knicked
off to get dinner (McDonalds, I'm ashamed to say) while I set up her
pressies from us. McDonalds was the first thing she saw when she walked
into the loungeroom, then saw the presants and got all excited about there
being more. She seemed quite impressed with the butterfly/fairy wings
(books and clothes mildly interested. Nice, but not fun :), then the
doctors kit from my parents, and the robot kitty. She played with the
doctors set most, but it was quite funny seeing her interact with the cat
like it was a real thing (like trying to tell it to not go under the table
and stuff). Unfortunately she crashed before we got the cake out... she's
got another party to go to tomorrow and then hers on Sunday... for whcih
I'm going to make another cake (Blues Clues paw print), so I have no idea
when this cake is going to get eaten which is a shame 'coz it's a 97% fat
free raspberry mud cake and so delicious it's unbelievable. Anyway, I thik
I'll be birthday-ed out after this weekend!
Speaking of Tiarna, a minor update to her homepage. I scanned a drawing she
did of me and the baby
http://www.freewebs.com/tiarna/drawing.jpg
and a professional photo done a few weeks ago (it was a free shot, so I
can't really complain that I don't exactly like the pose)

Wow, I just found a smurf font :)

Hey everyone,
Exciting to see tour announcements going up around the oblivion im in
right now ;)
Waiting for the Philly show announcement.. last time around it was
late, and may be this time as well.. hopefully not, since I bought tix
for the DC show and ended up having to sell them for Philly tix... I
couldnt have made the DC show anyways.. so it worked out for the
best... bah, babbling .. sorry!
Beth Coulter: amazing 9/11 story/work that you did, i enjoyed reading
your day snapshot as to what you did throughout taking pics here and
there...
Cyndi: yes Im oblivious to the world at this time since Im in love..
:) and since this doesnt happen to me too much, I happier than a pig in
... well... poop ;)
I had broken up with my boyfriend of 2 1/2 yrs in July... it took me
that long to clue into the fact that he was completely worthless and no
good for me... but its funny how life kicks you in the ass and says
"Wake up honey! This is not right!" and even after getting back
together with him, he hid our relationship from everyone.. so boo and
bad karma to him! ;) Luckily, the new boytoy is much better... older
and wiser, and understands my eccentricities :)
umm there was a point to this point... oh yes..
not sure if everyone out here has been made aware of an up and coming
songstress named Charlotte Martin... she's absolutely amazing, and so
pixie-ish! :)
anyways you can check her out at : http://www.charlottemartin.com
she's got sound clips and mp3s up there, I just got her 6song promo
sampler, and its great... she's got the piano and some electronic
backings to the songs and she's got the same kinda spunky humour as our
dear Ms T ;)
she's also a massive fan of the Cure, like me :) (although they come
second to Tori... always!) :)
just saw the cover of Women Who Rock with T on it, and she is just
breathtaking as usual...
remember how silly-cute she was when she first got out there .. in the
LE days with the massive lips and little mascara she wore? and now she
has really bloomed into the GODDESS she is.. :)
3 cheers for the late bloomers! (myself being one of those...) I swear
that I was just 'coming out of my cell' for so many years... not that I
think that highly of myself, but I definitely like this me as opposed
to 10 yrs ago me! :)
anyways enough of that...
anxiously waiting for the new cd...
faery hugs to all! hi Courtney!
