just felt like saying.. *ahem* HOLY CRAPPYSTICKS! lol.. I'm so
behind. I blame it on school. :P eh well. I love school so I can't
complain. at LEAST I manage to catch up. :D so.....

o_O why?? keep in mind that with the songs that Tori did--aside
from Eminem that is--that I'd never heard the originals before.. but..
I'm nutty for her cut of I'm Not In Love.. I like it a LOT.. I kinda
liked the original.. but.. her version.. :D I love.. LOVE.. the sarcasm
in it for one thing.. and.. it being just her and the drumbeat and wacky
drill-guitar thingy or whatever.. the drums, the sound effects, and her
voice.. it just sounds very cynical.. and I like cynical. :D

hahaaaaahahahah!! I love how you put it! rofl! I honestly loved
that video tho. (I downloaded it. MTV sucks.) and.. Bliss.. well I
remember seeing it when it first came out but well.. I didn't remember it
sounding like it does so when I rediscovered it after getting into Tori,
it really seriously left me behind--slammed against the wall, drained,
and breathless and almost like "WHAAAAT was THAAAAAT???" I like songs
that do that to me.. I guess I'm a songy-masochist, huh? whaddya think?
Jim gave a VERY interesting post regarding emotional/mental pathways and
stuff.. I actually agree with it. TO THIS DAY.. when I listen to Hey
Jupiter (but part of it is the weather turning cold as it was cold
weather when I first discovered Tori in February. :)) I remember that
first month.. and grin like an idiot. :D see? I'm grinning like an idiot
now. :D
so on that note, I'm gonna keep grinning and uh.. go now. cya!

Subject: Celebrity obsession - sad/fear/anger

I just got done watching a special on VH1 about the obsessed "fans" that
would stalk their favorite celebrities. It is so sick and scary what I've
watched. I hope that it stops but that's not very probable. I hope Tori
will always be safe from that, along with other celebrities.

hi everybody
just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone after my extended absence.
i've been moving house and visiting nyc in the last few weeks and have been
unable to get online very often. but i have a dozen or so digests to read
and i shoud be up to date again soon!
glad to hear about everyone starting to get their tickets for the tour later
this year - now i just need to check out what tori might be up to in
europe - and of course, eagerly await the arrival of "scarlett's walk".

Subject: Like Russia
Hi, folks.
I was just reading this poem "The Prisoner" by Emily Bronte and it reminded
me a lot of "Take to the Sky" -- especially the lines "So close to touching
freedom/Then I hear the guards call my name." Thought I'd share and see what
you think:
The Prisoner (October 1845)
He comes with western winds, with evening's wandering airs,
With that clear dusk of heaven that brings the thickest stars;
Winds take a pensive tone and stars a tender fire
And visions rise and change which kill me with desire -
Desire for nothing known in my maturer years

Sorry, again, for having been so quiet; a lot of my life has become very
much the sort of thing I'm not likely to discuss in public, archived forums.
:)
And, because I've been so busy dealing with personal issues, I haven't had a
ton of time for leisure activities like reading, listening to music, or
seeing movies. (I think the last film I saw in the theater was "Signs," and
the next one I'm likely to see is "The Two Towers." I even managed to miss
the ENTIRE Mill Valley Film Festival, and I had tickets for shows almost
every night. I want to see "Bowling for Columbine," though.)
But, some books on the "soon to read" list include a couple of
martial-arts-oriented ones: "The Code of the Samurai" (I'm curious to see
whether it aligns *at all* with Tori's song "Samurai" although that's not
why I'm reading it), "The Book of Five Rings," as soon as I get a proper
translation of it -- I don't like the one I have -- and "The Art of War."
Also a book on shamanism by Jan Fries, "Fingerprints of the Gods" by Graham
Hancock, a book on the Rosslyn chapel in Scotland (and the Templars, which
will help me decide whether to read this other book on the Templars a friend
gave to me, or to give it away), "The Grail Legend" by Emma Jung and
Marie-Louise von Franz, and "A User's Guide to the Brain." Also coming my
way is a book on Carl Jung by Joseph Campbell, which I am eager to read, and
I'm thinking I need to pick up books of poetry by Auden, cummings, Bronte,
and possibly Wallace Stevens. We'll see.
I'm also trying to figure out when I'll have time to listen to several hours
of mp3s by Marion Woddman and Joseph Campbell, because I need to do that
soon.
Thank goodness I'm taking a week off the last week in October.
The energy around here has been amazing -- with the full moon and Samhain
coming -- I feel half-in and half-out of this world (and my own head)
lately. And my weekends are stuffed-full until mid-November!
I hope all of you are well, and enjoying the turning of the leaves.
