Subject: Tori no longer meeting fans?

I recently saw Tori in Denver (Dec 5). While the show was great, I was
totally bummed when Tori didn't come out after the show. I really wanted
my friend to see Tori. When we got to the area by the tour buses, I
instantly knew something wasn't right because there was no security fencing
to be seen. For anybody who's had the opportunity to see Tori after a
show, there's always *some* kind of barrier. After a few minutes security
made everyone move back about 20 feet. Then move further back to the
sidewalk. Then move even further back to the street. Then they ran
everyone off when they announced Tori would not be coming
out. WTF?! Apparently this was planned in some way. Is this a new thing
for Tori not to meet her fans? Has anyone heard about this at other
shows? I'm going to see her again on Dec. 16 in AZ, and hope she does come
out after the show.

Mike

Subject: piano playing techniques and sultry looks ;)

Well im glad that this struck a chord (no pun intended :) ) with some
of the people on the list.. :)

I remember when I was in H.S. (which seems wayyy tooo lonnggg agoo!) I
had a friend who played piano as well and also was a Tori fan, and she
used to say that her parents would yell at her anytime they saw her
playing like that.. "Stop trying to be like Tori!" they yould yell.

Hey - I would rather my kid be like Tori than someone like Christina
Aguilera. I mean, have your sexuality. Just dont overdo it. Use it
wisely, and in the smartest way possible. Be sexy with your words and
your tongue. not your body, per se.

Cyndi commented:
<< o_O huh.. kewl.. I'm 5'7".. shortest one in my
family. lol..
does
that count? or am I too tall?>>>

I say that its comfortable, and Im 5 feet tall. :) the shortest one in
my family too Cyndi! And no you aren't too tall, unless you stand next
to me of course! ;)

Heehee. I remember that I used to think that Tori was like 5'7" or so.
Until one day someone said that she was little like me! (Of course in
our picture, she is 2 inches taller than me) which is right! We musta
both been sporting the same height heels that night :)

then Linda added:
<<Haha, when I read that response from littlebluegirl, I
was smacking myself for not remembering the fact that
I picked up the bench-straddling technique, too. >>

I love it really. And I totally agree with you too Linda, although Im
not left-handed, Im not too coordinated with the keys. Its the whole
playing two different things with each hand at the same time! :( I can
pat my head and rub my belly ok, but play something with my left hand
slower than the right, forget it.

So I suck at Tori music. :( Then I just recently got that Tori Amos for
easy Piano book, and im mad, since they transposed all the songs into
"easier" keys.

Now come on, when do we ever see Tori playing the majority of the
naturals as opposed to the incidentals? (white versus black keys)

I was mad that they changed Icicle .. oh well, I will have to refer to
the "harder" book I guess for the real sound :)

blah. But yes, Linda I agree, its all about *HOW* you present it. I can
sit at the piano and improv all the way, and make it *LOOK* like I was
playing a *real* piece :) Its all about the emotion, cocking of the
head .. (i always loved that expression!), and how you appear to know a
piece well :)

hehehe. Lesson 1 on how to Fake the Piano by littlebluegrl :)

well enough from me :)
take care and faery hugs everyone!

ps: wish me luck on Saturday while i have to move in the rain! ;(

I dunno. I've looked for it on WINMX and i couldn't find it, but I really
think it'd be an utterly fantastic song to hear live. I don't care if she
has to use crib notes for all the plants, she needs to do i live.

Subject: hello...I'm back

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to do a quick "hi" to everyone. It's been a while since
I've posted on RDT. I used to be known as ykant@aol.com and posted here
in the mid 1990's and even had a Tori Amos/Sarah Mclachlan website at
one time. A lot has happened since then! I lived in Daytona Beach, FL
in those days and now I live here on the Monterey Peninsula in
California. And it all happened from chasing after a woman:) Anyway,
Tori's new cd is great and I'm looking forward to seeing her on the
tour soon.

take care,
Charles

Adding on to this list *g*

1. Which is your favorite album?
Little Earthquakes

2. Best album art?
hrm... choices choices. I like Boys from Pele and Little Earthquakes, and
Under the Pink all for different reasons. I'm not as familar with all the
others (although I've got a number of 'em lying around here somewhere)

3. Best album title?
Boys from Pele

very original that one :)

4. All time fave tori song?

Winter

5. Fave song from...
Little Earthquakes? Winter
Under the Pink? icicle
Boys For Pele? Professional Widow
>From the Choirgirl Hotel? Rasberry Swirl/Spark
To Venus and Back? not sure...
Strange Little Girls? '97 bonnie&clyde (I think that's the name)
or at least it's been stuck in my head ever since I first
heard it and it won't go away it's ghostly freaky...
Scarlet's Walk? --haven't heard it yet--

6. What was your first fave Tori song?
Little Earthquakes - which I still like lotsandlotsand...

7. Have you ever named a cat/car/plant after a Tori song?
not...yet...

8. What other things has Tori turned you on to?
delerium (delight), death, dream, destruction, despair, and desire...
let's see. Raspberry swirls (the drink that is), really hum-diggety deep
thoughts right now, psych wanderings, more musicians than I can keep track
of and the making of music videos - which I'd like to do one of these days.
oh Gaiman of course (and back again), Reznor (who I wouldn't have liked but
for the folks here suggesting songs :), Eminem (who I'm actually liking some
material from lately)

the idea one can be part of a community
the idea that one has value - EVERY one

Oh, and the idea of actually -remembering- an artist. She's pretty much the
first one that stood out enough to me to -remember-.

> *** You Buy What You Pay For digest ***

sometimes you get what you need
sometimes you get what you paid for
sometimes you get a memory
sometimes a dream...

and just sometimes, things just happen and who knows where that will lead...
a future...

G'day, eh? :)

Subject: great joke

My mom sent this to me because I have a thing for cows and I'm also a
child of the 70s.

So, a bunch of cows and bulls are standing in a field. A huge
gust of wind comes along and all the cows fall over, but the
bulls just stand there, bracing themselves against the gale.
All the cows stand up and go back to their chewing.

Pretty soon, a tornado blows through and all of the cows are
knocked to the ground, but the bulls just munch on the grass.

Next, a typhoon comes through and all the cows are knocked into
the next pasture. The bulls just say "MOOoo..."

Finally, one of the cows walks up to one of the bulls and says,
"Moo? What's with the mooing deal? How come the wind always
knocks us right over and you just stand there?"

"Isn't it obvious?" the bull replies. "We bulls wobble, but we
	won't fall down."

For those of you who don't get the punch line, I feel sad for you.
Very very very very sad. <sniffle>
