Hi, I'm in Maine right now on my cousin, Hannah's laptop. Damn, I really
want a laptop, but it's too expensive for me. Anyways, I'll tell you about
my day.
Well, I had to wake up at 3:45 in the morning! That was so bad for me. I
didn't want to eat breakfast because then it would wake me up and I wouldn't
be able to sleep in the car or on the plane...I think that's what happened
anyways. I didn't sleep on the way there in the car because I couldn't
sleep being uncomfortable while sitting straight up or my head vibrating
against the car door. We got to the airport and I said bye to my dad and
dog. I said goodbye to my other dog at home before I went btw. My mom and
I got some magazines and waiting for the plane...we got on and flew from
Wisconsin to Michigan and then stopped for an hour and went from Michigan to
New Hampshire, then my uncle Frank picked my mom and I up and drove us from
New Hampshire to Maine. And that's where we are now...in Maine.
See, I have been chatting and e-mailing with my cousin, Hannah for a while,
but I haven't seen her since I was like 11 years old or so. It was really
fun seeing her again. She had to go to a wedding tonight so she'll be back
tomorrow morning. She has a cool room. Although, we don't have the same
taste in some things, some things I DO like. I know I'm gonna wanna puke
whenever I see that picture of Eminem she has on her wall...but I'll bare it
for 4 days. She basically thinks his music is good sounding and he's cute
or something so I'm glad she doesn't agree with all the bullshit he says.
They have really cute pets. They have 1 puppy and 4 cats. My uncle Frank,
aunt Jan, cousin Jesse, and cousin Hannah are who I'm visiting...along with
the pets of course.
Well, gotta go, hope I talk to ya tomorrow.
peace
BTW, do any of you have blurty.com journals? I just got one. I'm juls214

okay.. I don't have time to reply to everything or to this bit,
but stay tuned.. Dani wrote some very interesting stuff about her views
of hip-hop/rap, and.. *grin* I'm definitely gonna get into this
discussion, oh.. *yes*. I'll go into a lot more depth when I reply to my
RDTRNs, but she asked me what kind of rap and hip hop I listened to
before I gave up on it. I was a pretty faithful overall listener to it
all until 2000, really.. the albums that are hip-hop/rap that I bought
(and still own of course) are:
2Pac's greatest hits
Eminem's debut album (walmart cut.. ick.)
the Rush Hour soundtrack (also edited.. I only listen to "Can I Get A.."
on that one)
the Dr Dolittle soundtrack
not sure if he counts, but I own all three of Kid Rock's major label
releases (Devil Without A Cause, The History of Rock, and Cocky--just
bought that last one yesterday)
Outkast's Aquemeni album (walmart edit)
DMX's album "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" (again, walmart edit.. I've
stopped doing that crap since.. o_O)
Puff Daddy's "No Way Out" album (its purchase was what made me realize
how unoriginal he is, especially when I looked at the liner notes and saw
that **EVERY** single song in the album was sampled from at least one
song)
Timbaland and Magoo "Welcome To Our World"
Missy Elliott "Supa Dupa Fly".
That pretty much sums it up. I thought '97-99 were the years of
rap and hip-hop in its prime, and I still tend to think that way--I may
have been born in '81 but I didn't start listening to a lot of music
until the early 90's. Some of the few "money cars and women" songs that I
actually *did* like were popular during those years, like "Back That
Thang Up" by Juvenile in '99. *shrug* Again, aside from what I just did
here, I'll go into a lot more detail later on with my explanation of the
rap music that I liked then and now.
but until then.. *plooey!* :D ciao everybody! :)
Sincerely, Cyndi S. Crawford

Well, I'm still in Maine and I'm having an okay time. I went to sleep in
Hannah's bed while she was at her friend's dad's wedding with the cute
orange cat, Jessica. She's really sweet.
When I woke up I ate breakfast and then I took a shower.
After that, Hannah came home. We hungout, went to dinner, rented movies.
We chose 2 movies, Sorority Boys and Crazy/Beautiful. My mom said "No" to
Sorority Boys because it's from the makers of American Pie, which she didn't
even see! I don't understand what the fuck she's afraid of me seeing or
hearing when I already see and hear myself, I probably even say or do some
of the things also. Whatever, she's too overprotective about movies that
have sexual content...it's not like I don't see it all on MTV with blurred
out crotches and nipples. We brought the movies home and Hannah and I
watched Crazy/Beautiful, about mid-beginning through it, we stopped watching
it. That movie is so dumb. I mean, it was just so bad...the movie was
lacking chemistry and relationship between the main romance in the film. I
mean, you weren't looking forward to anything, it was already a romance,
they were already in love and nothing helped that along. Kinda like,
Glitter, that was the worst fuckin' movie, I swear, it was completely awful.
It was lacking chemistry and relationship, etc. Hannah took a nap while I
went in my aunt and uncle's room where my mom was and watched THE MASK.
That movie's so great. Now, I'm sitting at my aunt and uncle's computer
listening to the nice sounds of my fast typing :) 121 per minute baby! I'm
so hungry, but I don't know if they'll have anything I want right now.
2 more days until I go home. I like it here, but home...well, quoting
Dorthy from The Wizzard Of Oz, "There's no place like home."

Dude. I think Dani's post in #1369 should be bronzed and put up in the RDTRN
Hall of Fame. word up, girl.
I seriously have like four unfinished RDT posts from about two weeks ago
sitting in my drafts folder. one i didn't send because I was a little drunk
when I wrote it and wanted to proof it when i was sober just to make sure i
didn't sound like an idiot, and other three, well, i just forgot i wrote
'em. the stuff in them was good, but horribly out of date. oh well. what
follows is what i could pull of them that was mildly interesting.
Eoin, a friend of mine in the studio, mentioned that he had a friend who
knew Matt Chamberlain, and he actually got a chance to talk with him when he
was over in Ireland. so he asked him how it was to work with Tori. and Matt
only replied, "She pays well." When pressed further, all that Matt said was
something about what a bitch Tori was to work with.
don't know if it's true or not, but it doesn't really surprise me. Hell, i
wouldn't want to work for Tori. :)
a bit from Beth:
"I think a lot of quality acts
realize that their road to artistic credibility AND wide distribution of
their music has nothing to do with WEA (read: AOL Time-Warner), Sony,
Universal, or any of the remaining music-publishing oligopolies."
which really still has me wondering why Tori signed with Epic. i wonder
sometimes how different her music would sound if she was on an independent
label, or even if it would be different at all (i get the impression Tori
calls the shots more than a typical musician for Atlantic or Epic).
***
I had a good Christmas. I got a DVD player (or rather inherited one, because
my parents got a new one), plus a lot of jewelry. you know what's weird,
though? and i just realized this today....two of my biggest vices are books
and music. i *never* get books or music from my parents, friends or
relatives. for christmas or birthday or anything. i don't get it. are they
intimidated?
best of 2002 in music is coming next. i'm sure it'll be fabulous.

Subject: christmas musings and other warm tidings
first of all, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to all..... and also
Happy New Year if I dont post again until 2003 ;)
Violet: I absolutely adored your piece on how you celebrate and
celebrated Xmas ... It gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling reading about
what you did with your dad, and how you now use it as a sort of
memorial for him...
Well my holidays came and went, involving a massive family argument,
with people suffering from bloody noses and all. It was just more proof
that OUR family is really f*ed up. Ill spare the gory details but it
basically evolved from this comment I made about my frustrations of
living with my brother, who is severly depressed... It has made this
whole moving process hellish.. since he never wants to pitch in and
help... so that caused a stir enough to summon the demons of hell, and
it just got bad..
So we left home and came back to my new house, the new sanctuary that
I have constructed, amidst these bags of things and boxes and such...
it is home now, the only home I feel safe in.
Ok enough depressing stuff....
Julie H: My So Called Life was an amazing show! that and Life Goes On
were my fav shows from the 90s... I just love the one Xmas episode of
MSCL with Juliana Hatfield and poor Enrique getting kicked out of home
... such a pretty one... always makes me cry. I will have to get that
DVD set!
Well kids, today I was quite happy, I got my RAINN xmas card today...
love that new Herb Leonard print as well... such a great
organization... im glad that I became aware of it because of Tori, but
even if I wasnt a Tori fan, (faeries forbid it!), I would still give to
them... they are just amazing... unfortunately I think it was too late
for me to use the service by the time I became aware of it... I just
realized that I have been seeking therapy for over 10 years now... and
its scary how the well is so deep but my therapist and I are now just
skimming the top of the water......
but I think RAINN mostly got my name from the whole tickets and passes
to meet Tori deal :) which I would do again, and also encourage anyone
else to as well!
I wonder though, what does Tori do with all the stuff people give her?
Do the artworks go into the trash, or does she give them away or
something? I can imagine she must get loads of things from people...
anyways if anyone wants to see, here's my pic with Tori, and also two
shots of my painting that I gave her titled 'Beginning Scarlet's Walk':

love and faery hugs to all!
