I would love to write a huge post and inspire peoples thoughts, but I still
have 3000 words on solving the current world problems and bringing a lasting
peace and it is supposed to be realistic.
*sigh*
How the hell can I solve the evils of the world when I can't even manage to
clear my mind of that "person" who has taken over the high rent district of
my brain? Can you tell someone they owe you rent? Better yet, can you just
walk up to someone you've known for 6 months and say, "I just noticed you
were my soulmate. Do you remember we promised to meet again?"
Discuss.

Hola mes amies!
I currently have the Gary Oldman version of "My Way" stuck in my head and I
still have 8 papers to write by next monday and an hours worth of logic
homework to do and a story to edit and write and RAH!
Summer school, summer school, rah rah rah. It sucks, but it's worth it, I
think, in the long run.
Yesterday I counted up how many more classes I'll need to take in order to
graduate (excluding the history minor I've been thinking about declaring).
13 more classes. Thir-fucking-teen.
This is my first year of college, including summer school. I have 5 more
classes for my humanities and 8 more classes in my major. I already have
my fall semester filled out, but figuring that I take 6 classes a semester,
I'll still be out. OUT! In 3 more semesters (considering how one class is
only a lab, so I can probably take 7 classes in one semester) and
just...wow. You know? Wow.
College hasn't really done anything for my writing. In fact, it's made me
so busy that I don't have TIME to write. And when I do have time, I'm so
exhausted from not sleeping that I can't write, because I shoot out the
best stories when I'm wide awake. And school, especially summer school, is
NOT letting me get enough sleep.
But 13 classes.... If I take pre-session next year (which I might), I'll
be able to get another class under my belt and I'll definitely be out of
here and...
What am I gonna do? I mean, I want to write and I WILL sell stories and I
WILL get a cult following because, dammit, that's the type of stuff I
write; the stuff that attracts the weirdos and the freaks. Like me.
For example, my "A Mother's Love" story,
http://www.fictionpress.com/read.php?storyid=1190934 , was reviewed by this
summer writers group I'm joining (Alpha) and Ade told me that individual
sources thought it was great and strong and stuff, but they hated it.
You see, that's the kind of review I'm gonna be getting for the rest of my
life from critics. Good writing, but it made me want to kill myself. So
how do I deal with that?
Blah, I don't know. But 13 more classes. I can do that. I so can do
that. And I won't be wasting my time in college...I'll be wasting my time
in a basement apartment while working at Chi-Chi's!
But oh well. I'm going to go do something else now. Au revoir, mes amies!
How Now, Brown Cow?

where has everybody gone?
life for me has got quite hectic.
school & job
me has almost no time to write
but the digests have got too thin too often.
that's scary
i think i might see tori for the first time next august
i've never seen her before cuz i live in mexico city & she's never come
but i think i'm seeing her in ny (jones beach the 23rd)
a friend offers housing & it's pretty much all set
i am in a sort of disbelief. i don't even think about it really...
but it's like there in the back of my head... & hopefully i'll be
getting on the plane in some months
& hopefully getting to my seat then & then i'll probably die when the lights
go off & it means she's about to come out.
so, i've been really busy with school (studying hispanic literature &
language at the national university)
but i like lurking here
& maybe saying hi now & then
ciao

Toyota Corolla == solid; Even if rusty (which older ones have probs with)
they're solid. What it took to break mine was to shove it in the middle
of an F350. Broke the F350 in half, crunched a little of the engine of
the toyota. Pretty good I'd day. (their fault - they cut me off and I
was on the highway going 70. I was not breaking speed limit and they had
plenty of space to see me)
I was quite happy with that car. It took all kinds of abuse and kept on
going. The worst trouble I ever had with one directly was after the
accident we had this spare car (dead engine) in the backyard for spare parts
and one day when we were using it for target practice with a morning star,
the morning star decided to bite me back. Hurt for a couple of weeks.
Pretty fair I'd say :)
Anyways I'm happy with my copcars now. I'm on my second.... or third
really but the first ('81 zephyr) doesn't really count as it didn't have any
of the /special features/. In the second - '85 Crown Vic - the engine's
spitting out more propane fumes than I can handle but my boss is still
driving it. He likes it. (it's his car). The current one is a '97 Crown
Vic that needs only a little more work to be factory+. It's a Police
Interceptor brand Crown Vic with modified suspension, additional interior
lights, the holes in the back and roof for the grills and lights and dual
fuel... and REALLY nice mileage. Almost as good as that old Toyota.. :)
Okay I'm dead tired. I normally only think about cars when I'm talking with
other people who like 'em. I much prefer social stuff... *silly grin*
Although this lady I know (a good friend) who got carried away with her car
stereo - SHE I will talk cars, hockey and a bunch of other stuff with. She
came in 3rd in loud stereo competition in the first one she entered - the
folks who installed her car stereo asked her to show up at such-and-such a
place at such-and-such a time without telling her what she was getting into...
Fun thoughts, it was a fun story. Lots more bits but tooooo tired....
> $$$ Itsy-Bitsy Teeny-Weeny digest $$$
At least it's not yellow and polkadoted.
Or has a Miss Piggy hiding out in the changing stall...
Kermit and Miss Piggy singing this song is REALLY silly...
G'day, eh? :)

Subject: trapped in hiding!
Howdy folks! I'm gonna go ahead and reply to the last two or
three RDTRN's I've gotten (just general computer-related confusion that
resulted in the loss of some of the new digests and la de da....) and
skip the others. I've been in hiding this quarter.. let's blame it on
geometry. :D seriously.. tomorrow is my LAST DAY.. my LAST FINAL.. in
bloody MATH. gaaack! so wish me luck!
Anyway, yes, I'm still alive.. now on with the replies! :)
Lori said: "I'm also wondering what to do next in my life. I'm 29 years
old, and I feel I've reached an impasse."
Hmmm.... well.. what haven't you done yet? Try bungee-jumping or
skydiving or something else equally exciting. :)
John K asked me of Tori on CMT: "Why does it bug you? Shouldn't it make
you happy that as an artist Tori is able to expand her horizons to other
people that may not be exposed to her music?"
it MOSTLY bugs me that it's kind of offering her chances to be
LABELED.. more than anything, now that I've actually THOUGHT about it..
but.. my first initial fear was "ACK! COUNTRY MUSIC, run away!". *shrug*
that's not my fear anymore tho.. now it's just.. "ack!! they're gonna
label her as country now!" ... Tori cannot be labeled and I don't even
wanna see any attempts at it sometimes.
Bethey, good luck with your Peace Studies course! and that was a
kewl poem. I liked it a lot. :)
Jessica, have a fun trip!
Peter: there's a show called "Controversy" and they covered Tim
McGraw's song "Outlaw Indian" and interviewed Tori as well as lots of
other people.. and I *think* she also made a singing appearance on
there--or is going to.
Now.. on THAT note.. I better skedaddle. gotta get to school!
ciao! :)

Brian asked:
> Is the practise of journaling (blogs, livejournal, etc.), killing this
> list and ones like it?
Well, speaking for myself, I don't think so, since I don't have an online
journal or a blog.
I think the impulse is somewhat different, but that's just my opinion. I
have noticed that some people have used this list as an on-line journal
(even easier than getting a LiveJournal), and I'd rather have fewer
digests than digests full of journal entries.
I thought I was going to be on jury duty for four weeks, so I had the
books I was going to read all picked out, but then I got sent home (they
had too many people), so I had to go back to work. Oh, well.
I saw the new Matrix movie, and here are my top ten reactions:
10. I miss Joe Pantoliano.
9. Zion is cool, though I'm not sure how it was built.
8. I hadn't even realized that Anthony Zerbe was in the movie, so that was
a pleasant surprise.
7. I was confused for a few minutes when two new characters were
introduced, one named Lock and the other named Link.
6. Too many fights, especially since everybody in the movie obviously has
the same fight trainer. Some of the fights don't have much of a point,
either.
5. The car chase was very exciting.
4. The Keymaker was very good, and the use of the character was very
clever.
3. The Matrix has more Black people in it than all the Star Wars, Lord of
the Rings, X-Men and so on. It reminds me of the graffiti Bethany and I
saw right after seeing the first Lord of the Rings movie, "Too many white
people, but elves are hot." Which was true, but wouldn't it have been
cool if all the elves were Black? It would have put a whole different
spin on Elrond's reluctance to have Arwen marry Aragorn.
2. The doors! What a great idea, and implicit in the matrix being a
computer program (but I never thought of it, of course). You can go to a
web page and click on the same link you always use, but if somebody has
changed the code, you'll go to a completely different place. It's the
same basic concept. Very cool (and not overused).
1. "Misssster Aaaanderson!" Agent Smith is still the coolest. Though
having a hundred of him doesn't make him 100 times cooler, rather the
opposite.
As B/4,
John
