I can understand that. It would have settled the whole issue. With a
difficult decision, it's always tempting to put it off on somebody (or
something) else.
> like his soulmate doesn't suck down tobacco and big macs. Over a week

Good luck with this.

I was going to anyway, simply because (comic book geek that I am, and I
have been faithfully buying new books every week since 1964 or so) I have
never liked the Hulk. The X-Men characters are old, familiar friends, and
it's wonderful to see them incarnated so perfectly. The Hulk has never
appealed to me.

There's a little "making of" docu on the tape of LA Confidential that I
have, and the director described the studio's reaction when, after casting
Russell Crowe, he cast Guy Pearce in the second of the three lead roles.
They were really wondering if there was going to be an American in the
movie. Maybe even one that somebody had heard of? Possibly?
(There was, of course: Kevin Spacey, but all three leads are terrific.
Don't get me going on LA Confidential, I tend to get evangelical about it)
> Talking movies, how does everyone feel

I saw the preview when I saw the Matrix, and it looked every bit as
explosive and mindless as the Charlies Angels preview and that other
preview which I can't even remember. They made The Matrix seem like
Ulysses by comparison.
I'm not about to rush out and see T3, in fact I don't think I ever even saw
T2.
I may so see the Johnny Depp pirate movie, though that looks rather silly
(not as silly as those mentioned above, though). Johnny Depp seems to make
very smart choices and he's almost never in anything really awful.

Arnie needs a successful movie, I think that's the story here. So he can
close out his movie career with a bang and run for senator (or is it
governor, I forget).
> Brian posed the burning button-up or button-question.
Sometimes I skip, going down. 1,3,5, and then 2,4,6.
Sometimes not.
As B/4,
John

I was watching the movie Purple Rain the other day and was reminded of what
a great soundtrack it had. Bit of a pity about the plot though. I did
notice that nobody ever called Prince by his name. I still dearly love the
title track and thought it was magical when Tori covered it here in '94.
While it's a gorgeous song, it's got a whole world of hurt in it. I still
think The Revolution was his best band. While I enjoyed the first couple
from the New Power Generation, after that I think Prince lost the plot
completely in that the albums were nothing more than aural masturbation.
Arija wrote in digest #1833...
>although liz phair could start covering kenny g songs and would STILL be
>cooler than jewel showing her pubic hair on diva duets live.
I could have sworn you wrote Jewel SHAVING her pubic hair. Covering Kenny
G? Wouldn't they be rather quiet songs? Doesn't he just play sax? I'm still
waiting for the day Tori puts out an album of polkas. If Liz can do a pop
album... Having listened to the new Liz for the first time today, I haven't
heard as many uses of the word "baby" in an album since the days of Debbie
Gibson.
The former poster known as Winter returned and said:
>But I can't give it up. I love that car and it's so easy to work on! None
>of that electronic stuff that gets me all tangled up.
While one could say hanging onto a 36 year old car is stubborn (or an owner
of a classic), the older my car gets the less I want to get rid of it. When
a guy made an offer on it out of nowhere, I knew I couldn't give up my
baby. I know what you mean about electronic stuff as well. While I'm
completely useless mechanically, I can point out items in my engine and say
what they are or even do, so at least I'd have a chance of fixing it. The
other thing I don't like about modern cars is it always seems the computer
fails and those things are more expensive than anything in my car apart
from the engine itself.
Sounds like you had a case of good ol' Bali Belly if you appreciate
bathrooms that much. My trip and all the needles was to India and Nepal,
which are places where you really appreciate a real toilet. I can't speak
for Bali's toilets as I haven't been there, but it's nice to see porcelain
sides next to the squat hole and don't forget your bog roll.
I noticed I didn't finish a thought in my last post:
>John B. replied to Megan C.A. with:
> >You don't want to know about how Hermione seems to die but is really
> >possessed by a cosmically powerful entity called the Phoenix?
Really, you can probably insert any thing you like at this point. Hamsters,
chicken entrails, large funnels... The first week of its release there
were so many people reading it on the train.
Beth was replying to either John or that twat that calls himself Julio:
>Did you see the first "Matrix?" Would "Reloaded" have made sense if you
>hadn't seen it?
I think the point that was being made was about all the short movies from
the Animatrix that have come out. There were things in Reloaded that needed
explaining that weren't touched on in the original.
