Nope, never heard of you.
You seem to like Lord of the Rings, though, so that's good.

The recording studio can lead to some strange experiments. Years
ago, we wanted a real weird, harsh, echoey sound on a lead break
I was playing, so we waited until everybody else had left the
building for the night, put the mike in the stairwell, and aimed
the amp out the door of the studio, where the sound had to go
down two short concrete hallways before it reached the mike.
It was a great sound.

Some guys (some people, really) find that kind of thing rather
scary, apparently.
I know someone who tends to get into relationships with guys
who are actually in love with someone else (but the someone
else is unavailable for some reason).

There's a banker at work with the last name Cokeng, and I always
have the urge to sing, "She's my Cokeng," but I've resisted so
far.

Hola mes amies,
It's been awhile (since I could hold my head up high!), but I'm back (from
outerspace) and I'm ready to rumble (because mama said knock you out!)....
Dear God, song lyrics have taken over my brain! Out! Out, damn you, or
I'll get that Q-Tip that Violet was talking about!
So! I'm at home! It's summer break and I have no job and I have an
appointment to get my license on the 6th, so wish me luck (cuz I'll need
it, dammit!). My lips are currently peeling because I'm dehydrated, and I
spent the last 2 weeks on two different diets and I'm back where I was
originally, despite the mythical 6 pounds I thought I lost, only to
discover that HEY, those muthafukkas came back with a vengence the EXACT
DAY my 7 day diet was completed. Argh.
I suppose I should be grateful that my fat cells love me so much that they
never want to leave me, but I'm not. OUT, DAMN YOU! AND TAKE THOSE SONG
LYRICS WITH YOU!
Let's see, what else is new?
The Dresden Dolls! Everyone out there should listen to The Dresden Dolls!
They're the most amazing band EVER in the UNIVERSE EVER (or at least, for
this month). They're piano and drums, with a female vocalist who can
simper, growl, and scream with the best of em, and they're amazing and
everyone should buy their CD. Or borrow it from a friend! Or download the
songs, listen to them, and THEN buy the CD because a band as cool as the
Dresden Dolls needs all the royalties they can get, because their lead
singer is obviously in need of some therapy because her songs are THAT
PSYCHOTIC and DEMENTED and WONDERFUL!
I suggest such songs as "Missed Me", "Girl Anachronism", and "Coin Operated
Boy" to give you a taste of what they have to offer.
....Please excuse her for the day. It's just the way the medication makes
her....
Hee! Love love love The Dresden Dolls! LOVE!
So, now that I've used up my alotted daily amount of exclamation points, I
hereby give you a fresh poem for you to read and critique! CRITIQUE! I'm
worried that my snake metaphor didn't work! Review!
...Shit. Now I'm seriously overdoing the exclaimation points. :-(
Title: Reality Absolute
hallowed nothings to repent
and serpent hissings to remember
every morning waking up
lacking loving
lithe and limber
heart as cold as mid-December
trying, desperate, to recall
just why I cannot feel at all
tongue in ear
licking / lacing
leaving traces of ideas
I remember all too well
the way the twisted serpent smelled
like soil, feeling
freshly squeezed,
around my neck
the scales scratched
and brutal realities made their way
inside my pulsing brain, to stay
I can't say if there was ever
any real thing that was sacred
any real thing that was holy
hallowed, hailed as enchanted
Was there ever magic here?
and why do people fear the dark
if nothing monstrous there resides?
(as empty as my own insides)
just snap the crystal rosary
and tear the sacred paintings down
there's nothing there
there's nothing there
there's nothing there
there's nothing there
besides dim memories of a hiss
whispered in a hollow ear
and I never thought I'd miss
the terror of nightmares
ghouls and ghosts
....It's the fear I miss the most.
Because fear signifies belief
Sometimes I think, with relief
that maybe I'll get over this
but then I hear a subtle hiss
that tells me everything I see
is exactly what it is:
There are no secrets left to find
The power of the human mind
is the only mystery
that really has been left intact
Emphasized to indicate
that all reality is exact
There's nothing left to find but fact
Still, today, I try to dream
and remember how it was:
The mummies, wrapped in ancient gauze
hiding just beyond my sight
the werewolf's howl
the vampire's bite
the monsters bumping in the night
I try to dream of something more
than this world, brightly lit
where what you see is what you get
and despite the science shit,
I try and dream of something more
But with the whisper of a snake
I find myself all too awake.

Oh!
And my current free email provider sucks! It sucks ass! It sucks worse
than the suckiest thing that sucks in all of Suckonia!
So, does anyone know any GOOD free email providers? You know, cool ones?
Ones that DON'T download viruses onto your computer every 5 seconds?
Thanks!

That line bugs the hell out of me.
I take it to mean one of three things:
1) when you smoke, if smoke gets in your eyes it makes them water like
crazy, so if a guy felt like crying but didn't want to because of the
"macho" thing, he could have a cigarette and then "Oh gosh, my eyes are
tearing up from the smoke" would be a convenient excuse,
2) it could be about smoking pot, which makes a lot of people really
emotional and being high could be an excuse for a guy to let loose
and cry in a somewhat safe "I'm-not-fully-in-control-of-myself-right-
now-and-therefore-cannot-be-held-responsible-if-tears-accidentally-
squirt-out-of-my-eyes" way, or
3) since it's not socially acceptable for guys to cry, they come up
with other outlets to release their emotions and smoking is one of
them. (I don't agree, I personally would have used drinking instead
of smoking, but hey, it's not my song.)
So those are my thoughts. And I still really hate that line.

Subject: Smoke to cry
John B. said that one of my favorite new Tori lines, "doesn't every boy
smoke to cry?", doesn't make sense. :P
I latched onto this line the first time I heard it (at Violet's, as it
happens). For girls and women, crying is an okay and accepted thing, but
for boys and men, it's really not. Men have to find socially acceptable
ways of expressing their sorrow and getting a little space, and I think
Tori's suggesting that the ritual of having a cigarette gives them the
space and time to do that.
Whether or not she's right is another matter, but that's how I interpret
the line.
