DancingGirl here. It's been a very long time since I
de-lurked. Over a year and a half, but here goes...
Met a fellow ewf,(W), at school, yea!!! I was so
excited! I've never met someone else in person that
feels the way I do. It was so cool. We both came to
school one day with Tori shirts on. We saw each
other, screamed, ran toward each other, and hugged.
It was a Tori Moment. We are planning on going to the
Dallas show in April together. It's going to be so
fun!
LOVE the new album. I think it is one of her best
albums yet. It's all I've been listening to for the
past couple days. I have yet to get the book, but (W)
has it and I've read a "piece" or two. I read what
she wrote about Mother Revolution (one of my
favorites) and I just cried. It was like she was
telling me about myself. CRAZY! I'm waiting until
next paycheck to buy the book myself but I can't wait
to read the rest. Anyway, I probably won't de-lurk
again until after the concert. So... bye *poof*

Strange night.

I went to bed at 6:00pm and woke up at midnight, all energized to go
through my Inbox. I've got 256 messages cleared out and a few replies
written. I feel very virtuous, and I will soon go back to bed.

Megan CA (welcome back!) said:

First of all, remember that people lie about sex all the time. When
I was young, mostly boys pretended they weren't virgins when they were,
and girls pretended they were virgins when they weren't. These days,
probably it's one way in the red states and the opposite in the blue.
It's a good idea to take all reports with a grain of salt.

More importantly, though, a lot of people start with somebody they
have mixed feelings about, or when they have mixed feelings about the
whole idea, and then they feel bad about it later.

Of course, some are more pragmatic about it. My ex-wife decided in
high school that it was time she had sex, so she selected an appropriate
boy (one who wouldn't be after anything long-term) and had sex with him.

She's more practical than most people about these things.

Madame Ade (welcome back to you, too!) said:

I agree. No hurry.

Funny how the "failed attempts" never appear in movies (at least not in
serious
movies). No wonder people think they're messed up, when the movie sex
they see
has so little relationship to reality.

Very often.

(::feels rant coming on::)

The music world is very fragmented these days. Radio stations each play
only one kind of music, for example. When I was young, Top 40 radio
stations
played the top 40 songs on the charts, regardless of style. Jefferson
Airplane followed by Frank Sinatra followed by The Archies followed by
Bob Dylan followed by Desmond Dekker followed by Tammy Wynette followed by
that music from Dr. Zhivago.

People complained about it at the time (hence the birth of FM radio), but
it was really pretty cool.

Now, I'd guess that most of the people I work with have never heard of
Tori. And I've never heard of most of the music they listen to either.

On a positive note, for a while, most of the younger people I was talking
to were musicians, mostly female, and (no surprise) they all knew all
about Tori.

I've listened to the new album, but I'll have to listen to it more before
I have any real comments about it.

Two things I'm enjoying watching are "I Heart Huckabees," which is
wonderful (though parts are uncomfortable to watch, but that's the
idea) and a live David Bowie DVD which I bought on impulse, which
I like a lot (at least parts). It's no Sunny Florida, but I wasn't
expecting it to be.

As B/4,

John

Subject: I'm on TV! (sort of)

Okay, so Kim, our friend Steve, and I had an entry in the Power
Tool Drag Races this past June and the Discovery Channel was here
filming the event. The second and third episodes (there are four
episodes, total) are the ones containing our races; they will be
airing on the Discovery Channel the next two Mondays, March 7th
and 14th at 8pm and 11pm. Our team ("Chain Hur") is one of the
ones highlighted on the show.

We were followed around by the crew for several weeks as the
dragster was built and ultimately raced. It was so much fun! (I
was a ghost member of the team, refusing to be filmed or have my
name included -- I'm probably one of the few people in the world
who does NOT want to be on TV -- but when we watched our preview
tapes of the finished program, courtesy of the producers, I saw
that they did indeed succeed in getting shots of me here and there
for a few seconds despite my best efforts. No, I will not tell
you which one is me because I look like a dork!) The show on US TV
is editted down by 5 minutes per episode for more commercials, so
I won't know which bits are cut until the shows actually air, but
the folks in Europe, the UK, and Oz will get to see the full uncut
49-minute version and I guarantee you, I *am* in there.

Folks will get to see a small section of my warehouse space, as a
lot of filming was done at our home. Even though they did a lot
of filming here, the bits in our place only make up a small
portion of the finished product, lasting only a few seconds. But
whenever you see shots of Kim and Steve inside in front of black
curtains and there's a piano behind them, that's my baby. In
close-ups on Kim, look for my mic and Olivia music box (on the
left of the screen) and my favorite peach checkerboard candle (on
the right) behind him. (The sheet music propped on the piano is
"Summertime". I wish I'd had the foresight to put one of Tori's
music books up there as a wink to all the EWF, but I didn't think
of it until afterwards.) What you cannot see in the shots is all
my recording equipment (to the left of the screen). In some
frames, you may be able to spy a table with orange fabric draped
over lumpy objects; that fabric is covering all the recording
stuff.

I was responsible for decorating the chainsaw, and I made the
Gladiator Barbie (the "Gladiatrix") that rides on top of it. She
got a lot of attention. Everyone wanted to take her home, but
she's mine!!!

I'll be putting an entry up about it in my Livejournal some time
on Monday and will probably include a few photos.
http://www.livejournal.com/users/violetiae/

Our race in the March 7th episode is against a pink
plushpigtoything. Do we win? Watch and find out.

Hi All,

I finally got some Florida pics up for you all to see, if you like. Some
dolphins, birds and sunsets await you here:
http://bethcoulter.myphotoalbum.com

You can either watch the slide show, or go through the pics individually by
clicking on the intro pic. Or, of course, do both. I'm working on getting
my web page updated also. Until then, enjoy the photos!

Peace,
Beth

hi arty turners.

sometime mid to late last year, between moving and two computer
meltdowns, i somehow unsubbed to this list. i can't understand what
happened, and i don't know why i waited until now to resubscribe. what
can i say, i suck.

anyone remember me?

maybe i'll be obnoxious and refresh your memory. i think i've been
here, on and off, since 1998 or so. my name is Bethany, 24, white,
female, straight, living in Philadelphia. occupation: artist. job:
starbucks barista.

anyway, the reason i resubbed was i had some things to get off my chest
that could really only be unloaded here on RDTRN. one is that i must
regretfully say that The Beekeeper kind of sucks.

the other thing i'm wondering is if there is a list somewhere online of
all tori's b-sides and covers, hopefully in chronological order. i'm
trying to figure out what i'm missing.

the third thing is what is the going rate for an original Under the
Pink/More Pink 2 cd set these days? i am super broke and contemplating
selling mine.
