This has always puzzled me. Both (primarily) the expense and also the time off from work. I went to two shows on the SLG tour (NY and Philly) and it was a big chunk of my disposable cash at the time. Plus, to travel requires time of from work. I get a total of 13 days a year, which includes everything (sick time, vacation, doctor & dentist appointments, etc.). Can't take time off to go to non-local events very often. Just last week and this I've had to take two whole days, going to various doctors and labs to try to discover why I'm having dizzy spells. No answer yet, but maybe Monday (eye doctor and lab results) will provide an answer. Some people's lives are different, though. For example, I knew a programmer who used to follow Phish around. He could work from anywhere, with a laptop, and I guess he made pretty good money. I guess, for the rest of us, it's the boots.
