Subject: a memory

Just received the final bootleg.  It came in a box big enough for a pair
of shoes.  Haven't listened to it yet, but I'll report when I do.

So, I posted this comment:

I was in New York, talking on the phone to a friend (ex-gf) who was in her
dorm room in Washington, DC. Someone came into her room and told her, and
she thought they were kidding, so I turned on the radio, and I had to tell
her that they weren't.

I know he had all kinds of fears in his life (he always threw up before
going on stage), but John Lennon always seemed fearless, absolutely
willing to do and say whatever he thought was right at the time, even if
it was totally asinine (though often it was the very opposite of asinine).

There's not a lot of that around these days.

Thanks for posting that article. I'm going to forward the link to my
friend who I was talking to that night (even though she had the nerve to
go and marry somebody who wasn't me).
