Hello folks,

I haven't posted in a while, but I saw this article and...well.... Read it.

http://suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-rape01.html

To summerize: A RAPE VICTIM will be THROWN IN JAIL if she doesn't watch
the video made of her being gang raped.

What the fuck!?!?! WHAT THE HELL!? What is WRONG with this world that a
judge can do that!?! "Because it's necessary to the testimony" that she
view it? Let the jury view it, you sadistic heartless assholes! To throw
her in jail because she doesn't want to relive it?

God. I want to protest this so badly, but whatever happens, it will happen
today because that was the deadline that the judge set for her to watch it.

Whatever happens, though, I believe that the judge and the defense attorney
who argued successfully for the forced viewing of the tape will burn in
hell.

That poor woman... Any ideas as to what a person could do to protest this
shit?

I need to go pour bleach on my brain.

How Now, Brown Cow?

Megan

Subject: Welcome to Sofia

Welcome aboard Sofia. It's a little quiet here right now, but it picks
up sometimes, and it's always nice to see a new face.

> I'm a bass player for a band called Etherna and

Tori appeals to people with a wide variety of musical tastes (my current
fave non-Tori music is a country rock band called Poco). I think it's
because she's so musically sophisticated, and because many people find her
music has a therapeutic side, as you mention below.

> She's been and inspiration and a real help for me
> to deal with certain issues.

As is true of many others here.

Oh, and I sent this to Violet when she sent out her birthday
announcement (with an added "bleh!"), but I didn't address it right so
it bounced:

Bleh? Hey, you made it to 43, that beats the alternatives. Another 8
years and you'll make 51, which is okay so far for me. Thirty years
beyond that and you'll get to 81, the age of my all-time favorite movie
director (Robert Altman) who is as good as he ever was (he's getting an
honorary Oscar this year, which is good and bad, of course, as I discuss
here: http://www.u-town.com/waldo/

Eight years beyond that and you'll get to the current age of my mother,
who is also doing quite well.

Anyway, best wishes and all that, and many happy returns.

You young whippersnapper.

John

Okay, update on the previous email:

http://suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-vidrape02.html

The judge "abruptly" changed his decision to force the woman to watch the
tape after the governer and a bunch of victims rights groups got involved.
Miraculous how the judge managed to change his mind after all the bad
press, huh?

Well, anyway, I'm much less angry now, and much more satisfied to learn
that there are organized groups out there to combate this sort of
injustice. I probably ought to join one in case a gross miscarriage of
justice occurs in Pittsburgh, but I'm not sure what sort of groups there
are.

In other news, I'm experimenting with Veganism now. Any Vegans/Veggies on
RDTRN? For the vegans out there; how the hell can you guys survive without
cheese? I'm going insane. Thank god for the second-rate veggie cheese,
because otherwise I'd be attacking those giant wheels of cheddar whenever I
go to the grocery store.

Wow I'm tired. Goodnight all. Sorry for spewing my venom on y'all in the
previous post. yawn yawn yawn. Bon soir.

i'm on my way to work but i wanted to post this.....i bought the video thing
on v-day along with my golden girls season 4. woohoo! the 1000 oceans video
is the silliest thing ever. if the LA riots were in '94 that video was done
in...'96 i think? i just don't understand the relevance. it's so dumb.
i just went on vacation to new mexico and california for about 10 days and
when i was there a friend of a friend lent us some cds to drive to santa fe
with and has anyone ever heard of postal service? they're great!! we also
listened to bright eyes which more people have probably heard of. i must buy
both of those cds NOW along with panic! at the disco which pete wentz of
fall out boy signed who i am going to see in april. anyway, overall the fade
to red thing is good especially if you listen to the audio commentaries. it
makes them better. i love the little facts like they had to get 10 pairs of
sergio rossi shoes for a sorta fairytale except she didn't mention adrian
brody! TORI, wtf?!?!?! he's so great! i wanted to know if he was her idea
or..... he's so hot in an odd way. i hope he never gets a nose job. god,
remember when he won an oscar and grabbed halle berry and just...wow. ok i
need to go have some alone time now.... and uh, nap.

Subject: Selling rarities

I have become less attached to a lot of my rare Tori CDs (particularly
the singles) and have often thought about selling them, but keep getting
disheartened when I go to ebay and see that nobody is bidding on Tori
collectibles anymore. I had sort of hoped these would become an
investment of some sort, but it seems like people aren't as interested
in the Bee Sides and whatnot anymore.

Does anyone know if there are other places where such things are
selling? I have nearly a complete set of all the singles, US and UK, up
through Pele, and all the US singles through To Venus and Back.
