Hi everybody-

Someone mentioned the Atlantic tape compilation Don't Eat Yellow Snow, which
has, among other artists like Yo La Tengo and King's X, Tori's "God". I got the
tape from the music director at the radio station I work at back before UtP was
released. Yes, "God" is on the tape twice, but is is the same vesion on both
sides. There are actually a couple songs repeated I think (I don't have the
tape right handy), but I think it was just to fill space.
Does anybody know if this compilation was ever released commercially? Mine is
just a promo tape with a plain white j-card and black print.

BTW, since the music director at my station knows I like Tori, she usually
gives me any Tori stuff that isn't released in the stores, so she's given me
the Yellow Snow tape, the Little Drummer Boy cd, and the new Tea with the
Waitress interview cd! I am blessed! If anybody wants a copy of the interview
cd let me know.

Later!

Kyle Schiebel

When was this? Gee...I'm just sorry that I didn't get into her music
sooner.

Does anyone have a tour schedule for the 200 some dates that she has left?
I missed her NY show tonight (ack, I hate having to go to class :() but
would like to see her at least once before her tour ends.

I forgot to tape her on GMA but did catch her doing "Cornflake Girl" on
Letterman. Good, except she kept sticking her tongue out during the
performance, which really bothered me for some reason. Does she usually do
this?

I agree with most of the things stated on this subject, but as the person
who sat in front of the person who jumped on stage, I feel I should tell
everyone what one must do to prepare for such an act:
     1) Drink excessive amounts of alcohol before and during the concert.
        (the guy REEKED!)
     2) Continuously moan and kick the seat in front of you.
This doesn't sound like proper Tori Amos concert behavior to me. I mean,
he probably scared the beejeezus out of her too, because I probably would if
a couple of hundred pounds of wild-eyed greasy-haired drunken mass came at
me from the darkness. "I believe in peace" and all that, but I wish I could
have stuck my foot into the aisle in time to send the oaf sprawling.

What do you need to play them on PCs (Windows at least, I assume) or
in X Windows? X Windows would be great....

On the cover of this month's Q magazine (May 1994, no. 92), there's an
excellent picture of PJ Harvey, Bjork, and Tori, under the caption
'Hips. Lips. Tits. Power'.
Inside there's a three-way interview (and more pics) which begins...
"Well, would _you_ spill their pint? In the last 18 monts, Polly Harvey,
Bjork and Tori Amos have rogered [UK slang for 'screwed'] the charts with
their special brew of spooky, left-field weirdness and oestrogen-marinaded
musings. Q invites the gleesome threesome over for a Tupperware Party With
Attitude. Adrian Deevoy [he of infamous concert review in The Times] pours
the tea and supplies the fondant fancies."

Too busy to type it all in,

Hi everyone,

this happens to be my first post to this list since my subscription in
January. Today, while browsing through several weeks of accumulated digest
(trust me, I usually read it the day it comes in) left me with at least one
clear thought; I want to have an rdt-shirt too.
Now, are they still available ? And if so, who do I contact to order one ?
Also, could someone on this side of the ocean - or just anybody who happens
to know - please enlighten me on how to get the money for it overseas ?

Well, that was the main point of this post me thinks.
I could add that I'm going to see Tori's performance here in Amsterdam on
April 7th, for which I easily got tickets and absolutely cheap (about US $12).
Compared to some of the prices I've seen people on the list had to pay, this
was quite a pleasant surprise.
That I own two bootlegs; "A message for/from your heart" and "Saviour
beneath these dirty sheets" (I think) both of questionable quality.
That I really want to possess all of her music, but really hate having to
pay big $$ for every single just to get that extra song and a lot of
duplicates (don't mind different versions, though). So given the fact that
I now own both CFGs (that's all) says something about the list's enthusiasm.
It just grabbed me.
But then again, who would be interested in that.

Btw, didn't someone mention a while ago that there were at least some
plans for a B-side album ? This I would really love.

I just listened to God a few times, trying to decipher that mumbling
at 2:25-2:34 and all I can say is good luck! It sounds something like
'Give my body strength unto the lord blarg grumble mumble whisper mumble'
Has anyone out there actually heard Tori mention what she's saying there?
I can't imagine anyone extracting the text by ear alone.

And speaking of totally unrelated topics, I find it interesting that so
many fans of Tori are also big fans of Nine Inch Nails. As far as musical
styles go, they are wildly different. I think what people like me see in
both musicians is their tremendous ability to lay themselves open through
their music. They're not afraid to express all their feelings. You have
to admire that kind of courage.

Which brings me to a question - what's the relationship between Tori and
Trent Reznor? I know they've met, and I know Trent did backup on UtP.
Do they have any future plans? Personally, I'd like to see Tori perform
'Something I Can Never Have' off Pretty Hate Machine. Conversely, Trent
could do a pretty good cover of, for instance, 'Leather'. And together,
they could do an interesting rendition of 'I Got You Babe'....

All that time wasted on him for what? Nothing!!!! Tori could have played

SHe was, as usual, great. Liked the cab horn accompaniment too! :)

I have a question... here it is. I went the other day to buy a copy of
the piano music for LE. I had heard people mention that the page for Me
and a Gun was blank... Well, on this one it wasn't. It had the music
written out for voice. Are there two different books or was I mistaken.
Also... does anyone know if there is music for LE that is written as just
what she plays. I HATE the way they make the melody part of the piano part
in sheet music. It really pisses me off. Well, any response would be
appreciated.

TEXT:

   HOMECOMING SCENE:

A few local pals of Tori Amos didn't get a coveted invite to an exclusive
VIP party upstairs at the Hard Rock Cafe after the singer's concert Sunday
night, so they did the next best thing - they waited on the restaurant's
ground floor for her arrival.

Indeed, when Miss Amos, 31, arrived at the restaurant, she happily
embraced and said hello to some of her longtime friends - including a
former Sunday school teacher.

Back when her name was Ellen, Miss Amos attended Rockville's Richard
Montgomery High School, where she was homecoming queen, one friend said.
Gaithersburg fan Jeffrey R. Legreca bypassed the Hard Rock entirely and
caught Miss Amos Monday morning when the singer paid a visit to WHFS.

After getting an autograph, Mr. Legreca committed a major musical
etiquette blunder.

"I told her I really enjoyed her live recordings," he said, telling the
singer he had bought one of her live albums.

Miss Amos stopped, looking slightly amazed.

"I don't have any live recordings," she said.

Mr. Legreca was referring to illegally recorded bootlegs of Ms. Amos
that he had bought at a local record store. A definite no-no as far as
recording artists are concerned.

========================================================================

Moral of this story? Don't mention any bootleg to Ms. Amos!!!!

Lots of folk here are complaining that Dave didn't spend enough time with
Tori. Sure, I would have liked to have seen more time with her, too. As
a John Waters fan, I would have liked to have seen more of him, too. I
also hate Bob Saget, but I admit his "Piano" joke was funny (IMRSO, or In
My Rather Sick Opinion).

But this is DAVE'S show - folks tune in every day to see what HE will do.
He'll be the first to admit he's a lousey interviewer, but that's not why
folks watch him. They watch him to do crazy stuff like have a taxi drive
onstage, which is why that got more air time than anything else. Just be
glad he and Tori got in the same shot - most musicians he has on don't
even get THAT much!

Also, it really cheezes off both hardcore KateFans & hardcore Tori Fans
when the two are compared, so I'm going to do that here. No, I'm not going
to mention how the opening of "Cornflake Girl" sound (almost) JUST LIKE
the opening to the title track of "The Red Shoes". No, I noticed how Dave
said Tori had her American Teevee debut on his show a year or two ago. Which
means both Kate & Tori had their American Teevee debuts with Paul Schaffer
(Did I spell that right? Who cares?)!
(I doesn't matter if Paul didn't play with Tori (that doesn't sound right),
he was still musical director and probably had SOME contact with her!)

I have had a few requests, so by popular demand, here are the
details of my "After burn" bootleg, bought 5 days ago.

c 1994 <--- copyright???? !!!!!

Track list:
Tear in your hand (Backstage Tavern, Ballard, Washington, 6th May 1992)
Silent all these years (Dennis Miller Show, 1992
Upside down (Carefree Theatre, West Palm Beach, Florida, 16th August 1992)
Mary (Henry Theatre, Hollywood, California, 24th August 1992)
Girl
Whole lotta love
Thank you
Leather
(all 4 form Coach House, San Juan Capistrano, September 1992)
Precious things ("Kevin and Bean" show, KROQ Radio Studio,
Pasadena, California, 19th January 1993)
Sugar (KROQ radio studio, Pasadena, California, 19th January 1993)
Love song (KROQ radio studio, Pasadena, California, 19th January 1993)
Little drummer boy (Baltimore, Maryland, 12th November 1992)
Crucify (Tonight Show with Jay Leno, 11th January 1993)
Winter (Tonight Show with Jay Leno, 11th January 1993)
"Love line" (KROQ radio studio, Pasadena, California, September 1992)

The sound quality differs, mostly in the first half of the CD with
the live recordings. Tracks "Girl", "WLL/TY" and "Leather" are
taken from the "After the rain" boot. The radio & TV recordings are
of a good quality. I really _like_ the "Crucify" "band" version of
the Jay Leno show. I never saw that on TV (obviously), but it's
great to have at least the soundtrack of it.
The last track is an out-take from a KROQ radio show called "Love line".
On the back of the CD this track is claimed to be 12'44, but it is approx.
4 minutes, actually. Tori gives some nice advice to a girl who thinks she
is turning lesbian, or something. Very weird to come across on a CD, BTW.
I _LOVE_ what she did to the Cure's lovesong, and finally have
something else to play at Christmas beside Kate's two Christmas
songs. All in all, a great bootleg IMHO, but mainly because of the
second half of it. I wouldn't have bought it for the first 8 tracks
alone... (Or maybe I would have, my sister was dreweling in my neck
as there was only one available. She was pretty pissed off about
that. But hey, I missed out on the Amsterdam concert already. So,
this was a little consolation.)

O yeah, The CD is packaged with a 4page bootleg, with a picture of
Tori in something yellow and a green background. That picture is
also printed on the CD itself. The inside of the booklet is a
black/white picture of Tori with something like a cross on the
background. The tray is clear, so you can see a picture of the back
of the CD, with the track and a nice Tori picture.

Hope this informed you a little...

Does anyone else think that Tori should dump Eric (is that his name?) and
marry Trent Reznor? Huh-huh. That would be a marraige made in heaven...
or hell.

I also know of one others one..Cornflake girl. I got the limited edition
England one from a local Best Buy, if someone wants one, I could check and see
if they have any others, they have had all the Tori singles that I have, and
all at about 7 dollars apiece, imports and what not's. The limited edition 2
CD set for PGY will cost me total about 20 dollars, cause I can buy the second
CD for like 6 and the box and the first disc for like 12, so it is relativly
cheap for me to get Tori stuff.
I talked to the local import guy about Tori and he said his girlfriend has
over 30 concerts on tape and 5 seperate shows on video, she has done
interviews with her and all kinds of other stuff, makes me really jealous...I
had to buy my import (pieces of me, which I love BTW). I have not had the
oppurtunity to make it to a concert, although I could've about 1 year ago, I
wanna smack myself for that one...
Trent Reznor...nahh, she is happy, let her stay where she is at.

hello everyone,

i just wanted everyone to know what a cool guy anthony--the dude who
puts this thingy together is. i was frantically seeking a way to get to
the keswich show, ready to pay a horrid amount of money to see tori.
anthony e-mailed me the friday before the show and told me a friend of his
couldnt make it and that i could have the ticket for the flat 20 bucks!!!!!!
turns out the seat was in the THIRD FUCKING ROW. i think he thought i was
a big weirdo cause i kept thanking him inarticulately cause i was struck
dumb at my luck and his um, niceness. anyway, needless to say it was too
incredible to try to explain, but i will say i was floating because she
opened with in my head, sigh. it was beautiful beautiful beautiful.

give Anthony a big round of applause for being such a gentleman, not only does
he put this list together and dedicate so much time to it, he is also a good
samaritan that sold a 3rd row seat for 20 dollars, gosh if he is that nice, I
wanna rub against him for a ticket too :)...hey don't knock me, I don't have
school, so I need something to keep me going. Well enough rambling on...glad
to hear that you liked to show Lana, I am sure I will be the same when I get
to see her. I feel the same way when I got a chance to see Concrete Blonde, I
couldn't remember by parents birthdays, but I remember the days that I have
gotten to see CB in concert. Just shows that you are a true fan...and you
appreciate what the artist does.

I know the idea of Tori dumping Eric and marrying Trent was a joke but
without Eric Rosse, Tori Amos wouldn't exist and wouldn't be what she is.

Well, I just got a copy of the Hot Press magazine that Tori was interviewed
in, and when I read about her being diagnosed with cervical cancer, I had a
theory. Perhaps that's why she has decided to have a child, in case the cancer
returns and makes it impossible.
Don't worry if this is news to you, the cancer wasn't spreading, and they got
all of it. But there's the chance it might come again, you never know.

What's this about the PGY Ltd. Ed. having 2 versions? One a digi-pak, the other
a slim-line jewel case? I know there a 2 versions of the single (ltd. and reg.)
but I did't know about 2 versions of the ltd. ed. with the same tracks. Am I
confused, or is this for real?

Kevin Holy mentioned the little "groove" Tori did before a commercial on Good
Morning America. How could he not recognize it as being from "Space Dog"?
Hello? :)

Well, that's all I can say for now,
Brent

I just got a copy of the chain tape, and was
wondering about the origin of the song "Distant Storm".
It sounds like a YKTR track, but it's not listed on
my LP or in the discography.

What is the song from ?

Also, does anybody have the origin of the other tracks on the tape?
Such as War?

Thanks,
Chris

I really don't have a problem with throwing flowers on the stage because
if I hadn't forgotten I would have brought my own. The thing that I thought
was rude was the guy diving on the stage....if I was Tori I would have been
a bit scared to come back out. Granted she is probably more used to it than
I.
I have no idea how we got front row seats...maybe Tori was just smiling upon
us. :)

No one has ever mentioned this here, but it might be just because it's
really old news. The first time I saw Tori on tv was actually on
Arsenio Hall doing "Silent All These Years". I don't remember exactly
when it was, but I thought that I'd mention that in case anyone is
interested.

And about the rdt t-shirts, I missed out just because I forgot to send
money in time, and I know Josh was talking about the problems/
possibilities with another run. If I remember correctly, he said that
he'd need a guaranteed 75 (or so) people to order a t-shirt for them
to run at the same price, and that otherwise it would be $2 or $3 more.
Could we talk about the possibilities of you doing this Josh, I mean, if
you would be willing? I'd personally pay $3 or prolly even $10 more
for one of these! (= We should take a poll and see how many people
would be interested. Like I said, this is if you wouldn't mind...I know
you've already done a great service to this list with the t-shirts!

That's it for now.

I watched the preformance of CG on Letterman on Monday with some
of my friends, who are generally pretty cool, but have always made fun of
me for listening to Tori (I guess I'm not a real man!). Much to my
amusement, I think they liked it, and in fact commented to me that she
has a really original sound. That kinda reminded me of my own
introduction to Tori. I heard SATY and the other singles when LE came
out, but I kind of dismissed Tori because of the way she presented
herself in videos etc. I found it very self-conscious, like she was
presenting herself as ultra-serious and intense as a marketing ploy.
That was probably due to my punk snobbiness (It has to be the Clash or
Replacements to be cool).
But, to make an already long story short, about a year after LE
came out, I found myself wanting to hear it, so I copied it from a friend
and the rest is history, as they say. Has anyone else found that Tori's
image kind of took away from the appreciation of her music (which is the
most important thing, of course)?

Hey, "goddess544"/Christy, just read the digest including your
messageabout Delerium talking with Dream about ice cream
flavors. I love the series, but I missed some issues. Your
reference doesn't ring a bell. Could you tell me which issue
you're talking about? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
