Subject: Tori Burnt out

I don't think Tori is burnt out...assuming you are talking about her last
few albums.

In fact, I have a theory that says she was more opressed during the
creation of her previous albums which is why she did such a 90 degree turn
in "Boys for Pele".

You could call it the college album...the first unsupervised romp through
all that is Tori.

As with all College year exploits, a little more control creeped in as
the newness of freedom wore off and gave way to more direction.

Subject: Dicken's Cider

Violet was talking about how when in need, cinnamon schnapps goes down
fine. I had that with half a bottle of bourbon the other night. But when
desperate, there's nothing I like more than a Dicken's Cider.

I hear Dicken's Cider is great warm too. While she does love her Tia Maria,
Lavs tells me she finds nothing more satisfying than a long, warm Dicken's
Cider on a cold winter's night. While she's not having as much Dicken's
Cider not that she's pregnant, if you ask me, too much Dicken's Cider is
why she got pregnant in the first place.

You can have it without alcohol as well. When I met Bethany, she was too
young for anything alcoholic but she was begging me for a Dicken's Cider.
While it can be hard to find in a big city, I know Koba appreciates it when
he can get a Dicken's Cider.

Linda just loves the little donkey on the bottle. There's nothing she
enjoys more than a little Dicken's Cider ass.

***
I must pay homage to the guys that came up with that Dicken's Cider "ad".
It was found somewhere on the net and I heard it last night in my car.
Thankfully I was parked in my garage when I heard it, otherwise I might
have had an accident.

If you still don't get it, say the above out loud.

Brian

Hola mes amies!

Hurrah! I met someone at my writers workshop and she's nice! And she's
also bald! Both of which impressed me dearly!

As for the whole 'I pledge alliegance' mess, I say that perople are way too
high strung these days. Anyone else notice that? Like with schools and
PCness and everything, the rules of society seem to be taking a stranger
and stranger turn for the worse. ...But then again, maybe that's just me.

In other news, nothing's happened recently. I hung out with Ade for a bit
and slept till noon and played Sim City (I forgot to bring that from your
house, Ade! Sadness...) Oh well. Maybe I can buy an updated version!
That's *such* a fun game, mostly because I make for a sucky mayor.

Many people have died because I decided I wanted my city attacked by a
monster. It's very sad. *grins*

Anyways, not doing much right now. Bored. Wanting to play Sim City but
not having Sim City is a sad sad thing indeed. Alas.

Hope you people are having more fun than I am at the moment.

I also entirely forgot that a friend of mine was having a graduation party
today. Whoops. Oh well...

Too bad about John Entwistle.

Not that I'd listened to the Who or seen them perform for a long time, but
they were my very first "favorite band." I saw them on the Smothers
Brother TV show (the clip which opens "The Kids Are Alright") and I was
hooked. They were my favorite band until Roxy Music, and they were my
favorites until Television, and then I sort of gave up on having favorite
bands.

I've always liked bands where every member sang and played as if they were
the most important person there, but it all managed to work anyway. The
Who and the Jefferson Airplane were about the best at that (the jazz
equivalent would probably be some of Ornette Coleman's groups). I like
bass players who are thunderously loud and melodic but never busy, and
Entwistle was about the best I ever heard.

> Bethany is as much a Christian community as it is a college.

True, in a way. I am as much a tango dancer as I am a physicist.

This is definitely true.

> I've never been whelmed, so how the hell can I be overwhelmed!?

I have often been underwhelmed, however. Just saw the movie Spider-Man,
and "underwhelmed" about says it. It makes clever use of various New
York City locations, and the actor who plays J. Jonah Jameson is terrific,
but the rest is no big deal. Plus the Danny Elfman music and some of the
scenes remind one a bit too much of Batman.

Well, I have ben quiet. Had to let you get over that Lav-arija sandwhich.
Been hosting my sis (she's still here but asleep as she stayed up at watched
the World Cup. I went to bed after Brazil's goal) and not reading digests.
Had a rather enjoyable trip down to Syd on Fri and Sat. Beth mentioned
books. ack! I now have books coming out of my ears. After not spending much
on Fri (and what I did spend was on stationery/craft items), Sat was our
Galaxy and Borders expedition. I spent around $270 in Galaxy, two books for
Tiarna (Wintertale of Redwall is being put away for her. She'll apreciate it
more next year), Pathways (Voyager book - reduced), Madeline L'Engle box-set
of the Time series (which I saw one other time but didn't have the money for
it), the Star Trek Encyclopedia (I think my geekdom is now confirmed),
Catfantastic II (collection of stories about cats. First one quite funny,
cat responsible for sinking the Bismark in WW2 :), Stardust (full-price, but
cover intact) and I settled on 'Awakeners' by Sheri S Tepper (couldn't
remember a particular book of hers that lots of folks recommended).

And then two Joseph Campbell books at Borders. I could have bought more, but
we were running out of time for me to scrutinise. So I won't be looking for
something to read for a long time. But then, Galaxy give you gift vouchers
to 10% of your purchase value, so I'll be back there again to pick up at
least one other thing before the end of Sept (I should start writing down
all your book recommendations).

So Coops was commenting on me saying 'it's 7 degrees' when he's had it
around 0. Well, that's my point exactly, we've finally got cold enough for
me to feel it. It's still much the same, cold nights, bit windy, though
invariably a sunny day.

I wouldn't say I dislike Eminem because he says what I'm scared to, but
because he says things I find abhorent. I can't say I've felt hatred or
disdain for a group of people that would see me get called racist or
homophobic, and any male-bashing (verbal) I have engaged in is the 'getting
over a guy' type.

Beth, come to Australia! ;)

Beth typed:
>metal. For those of you not familiar with Apocalyptica, they are a Finnish
>band which plays heavy metal music on cellos. They are stunning specimens

Ooh, there's another one? There's a band here in Aus called Four-play which
use a variety aclassical string instruments. Probably their most noted song
is their cover of 'Enter Sandman'. Still don't have one of their albums
either... (sheesh, I still have money I'm planning to spend???). Must read
your essay and check out some of their tunes when I have more time...

Coops, you are starting to sound as domestic as me! It's scary!

What a shame I was behind in reading digests, it must have been very
disappointing to find us not covered in butter for you! (perhaps you should
have asked the kitchen for some?).

Oh and my big thrill Fri night (aside from dining with Coops) was eating at
a resturant where Robert Piccardo (aka Voyagers Holo Doc) had eaten (and I
daresay it was when he was out here for the trek con I went to last year
(but I didn't see him))

Better leave it at that, this message is rather long.

i heard that entwistle passed away while on my way to my friend's
house-then-to-maine-for-the-weekend thursday night. what a heartbreak, man.
funny that 3 months ago i was thinking, "damn...i wish i could somehow
afford the $300 ticket to go see the who at madison square garden on my
birthday. i bet that would be a lot of fun."

and i still think the "pledge" ruling was bullshit. if it's "mandatory,"
make it optional (i thought it already was). but jesus- talk about lighting
a cigarette with a blowtorch. make it optional, that's fine. DEFINITELY
don't discipline a student for NOT saying the pledge
(http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/06/28/pledge.alabama.ap/index.html ). bitch
about school vouchers
(http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/06/27/scotus.school.vouchers/index.html). but
to make the pledge unconstituional? all i know is that i'm glad the ruling's
been put on hold (still dying to read it).

btw...maine's nice, but don't ever plan a wedding on a remote island without
warning people about how "rustic" it is. jesus.
