Subject: addendum to thoughts on prayer...
lemme explain what I mean with my question.. or at least try,
because I don't want people to just blow it off because of the bit about
"and the person didn't accept "I don't pray" for an answer":
you don't necessarily, in my opinion, have to be praying to God to pray,
so to speak. you can be just thinking "oh please oh please oh please oh
please!" in your head, or something in a similar vein. any impassioned
thoughts could be considered a prayer. and that is just one way, I say,
that somebody can pray. this is what I meant by the hypothetical person
accepting different ways--not just one way--for an answer.
now.. given that, how MIGHT you say that you pray? I really want people
to think on this question.
Sincerely, Cyndi S. Crawford
"I know we're dying / and there's no sign of a parachute / we scream in
cathedrals / why can't it be beautiful / why does there gotta be a
sacrifice?" -- Tori Amos

Tori Amos The Librarian
Tori Amos considers herself a librarian. She is using her music to tell
her story and gathered up material for her first ever best of which
will include new music as well as past hits.
'Tales of a Librarian' will be a 20 song CD and DVD, sequenced
personally by Tori in an order she says will tell her story.
To bring us up to date with her life she has recorded two new songs
'Angels' and 'Snow Cherries From France' and re-recorded two very rare
B-sides 'Mary' (originally found on the European "Crucify" CD single)
and 'Sweet Dreams' (from 1992's limited edition "Winter" CD).
The earlier songs include the more obvious 'Precious Things,' 'Playboy
Mommy,' 'Spark,' 'God,' 'Cornflake Girl,' 'Baker Baker,' 'Winter,'
'Tear In Your Hand,' and 'Silent All These Years.'
The bonus DVD features three songs from her 2003 North American tour
plus two audio only tracks remixed in 5:1 Surround sound especially for
the compilation.
Tori released her first album in 1992. 'Tales of a Librarian' will be
released in November.
Tracklisting is:
1. Precious Things
2. Angels (new song)
3. Silent All These Years
4. Cornflake Girl
5. Mary
6. God
7. Winter
8. Spark
9. Way Down
10. Professional Widow
11. Mr. Zebra
12. Crucify
13. Me and A Gun
14. Bliss
15. Playboy Mommy
16. Baker Baker
17. Tear in Your Hand
18. Sweet Dreams
19. Jackie's Strength
20. Snow Cherries from France (new song)

Absolutely. They have some kind of agenda, which is also their problem.
> it's about Americanizing the world
It is amazing how definite people can be about "how the US is viewed around
the world" when they spend all their time in the US and talking to other
Americans. You're not going to learn a lot that way.

Happy birthday, and many happy returns.

You make it sound like 42 is old. :-)

I think clearing all the crap out of your system would feel good at any
age.
Great news about how things are going with you and Aquaman, by the way.
> "Defending Your Life" with Albert Brooks.
Good choice. So many people spend their youth without fear, doing whatever
they think of at that moment, and when they get beat up a few times, they
can go too far in the other direction, becoming too cautious. There's a
balance there, but it can be hard to find. Caution can be a good thing,
following your every impulse can cause problems (it took a couple of tries,
but I learned to stop dating women who self-identified as gay), but
spending your life trying to avoid all risks isn't the answer. (it doesn't
work, either, of course.)
Aquaman may think that he's safer sitting on the shore, but he'd have more
fun if he took a swim now and again, and it sounds like you're moving him
towards the water.
I've read about Neil Gaiman's new "Sandman" book, and it sounds interesting
(though, because of how comics work, when a series is revived like that,
it's sort of like a reunion tour of a band--it reminds you of the great
times, but it's mostly just nostalgia), but even without checking the price
I know I can't afford it.
I have a feeling that, no matter how much it costs, Tori's new CD/DVD
package deal will fall into the same category. Not for only two new songs
(I somehow knew we weren't going to get that CD of B-sides and rarities).
And they wonder why people download rather than buying.
Not that *I* would ever do that, you understand. Nope, not me.
As B/4,
John

Subject: Wishes of the day...
A quick note to say thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes my way.
A few I still need to get translated, but it is neat to get Birthday wishes
in Spanish, German, and a few languages that I don't recognize. Knowing
people around the world thought of me for my birthday is a thrill.
Thank you to all the lurkers, regulars and former regulars who sent me good
wishes. It was a grand day.
Fairy Blessings,
Bethey
