Subject: Baltimore Tori Concert

Greetings all,

I wasn't supposed to go to this concert, the Camden one was it for me. But
to my surprise, my scheduled trip to the National Aquarium was on the same
day she was playing next door to the aquarium.

My boyfriend and showed up around 11 that morning and a very nice group of
Toriphiles were already camped out and numbering. I received number 7, so I
felt lucky that it was my day to see Tori at the M & G after being
disappointed at the Tweeter. Then we did our fish trip for two hours and
got back about 2 hours before the M&G.

It was nicely organized, and Spider and Smitty (the security dudes) seemed
grateful that we were so efficient. Tori arrived via a black SUV and came
out about an hour later. The number system sort of worked except for a few
who managed to cut in front.

Tori spent several minutes with one girl (long red ponytail and long blue
Indian dress), talking intently, seeming to pray, then telling her softly,
"You are so beautiful", before giving her a hug. That sort of thing
inspires me so much, for it obviously was an abuse victim and Tori so
obviously sincerely cared.

When my turn came, I introduced myself. Even though I'd met her twice, once
being invited by her backstage, I knew that she meets so many people she
can't remember someone she met back in 1998. I told her about my
inspirational speaking career that she inspired and she looked so happy to
hear a success story. I than introduced her to my boyfriend and she greeted
him and shook his hand as though we were at an intimate cocktail party
instead of outside a venue with 50 other people.

She signed my tote bag and consented to having a picture with me taken, then
I left to make room for those in the back.

Since we had no money for tickets, we went over to Pier 7 and watched her
for free. The acoustics were great for outdoors, the screen was in full
view, and to listen to Tori while watching the water in the bay is a surreal
experience.

If only my back hadn't hurt so badly. Then I could have truly enjoyed it.
But Tori does seem tired. Anyone think it's interesting her last concert is
on 9/11?

Fairy Blessings,
Bethey

Greetings all,

I had an interesting discussion with a conservative friend of mine and he
asked me what my solution to the current situation is. I wrote the
following. After meeting up with a liberal friend of mine, and hearing her
thoughts, I thought I should share this with all. It's not "liberal", nor
is it "conservative". It is simply Bethey being pragmatic.

The only solution for the Iraq problem is Don't Attack Iraq. To invade Iraq
in March, 2003 is to invite civil war. That's what I said all those years
ago. Now we have the beginnings of Civil War and our choice seems to be, is
it one where Americans are killed or not? That's not a good choice.

Should Saddam have remained in power? Of course not. But we shouldn't have
removed him without world support and assistance. I mentioned at the time
that we could flood the country with U.N. inspectors, which would prohibit
the human rights abuses and contain Saddam's WMD abilities at a tenth of the
cost.

At this point, we cannot leave. Powell was right about the "you break it,
you buy it" policy. We need three times as many troops there, we need to
restore the infrastructure to prewar levels, we need to...

In truth, what needs to happen is for W to go to the U.N., hat in hand,
apologize for his grave misjudgment and ask the world to assist. The only
way to protect American soil is to remove our middle east presence. Once we
are gone, Bin Laden's reason for attacks is removed. (no, I don't want to
talk about Islamist's plan to take over the world).

As far as Israel goes (which is the real root of all religious discontent
today), the borders should be restored to the 1948 borders and all remaining
lands must be settled by Jews and Muslims in equal measure. One house Jew,
next house Muslim, next house Jew (throw in the occasional Christian),
etc... The argument is that they will kill each other. But they already
are. And if you make it part of the community, the violence won't last much
more than one generation, because people don't tend to bomb their own
neighborhoods.

But the ultimate plan I have for World Peace is to teach inner peace.
People must first fix themselves, then that fixes the society, which fixes
the world. That's what I said in my key note speech for Sexual Assault
Awareness week, and what I will continue to say. People's personal problems
become world problems because they aren't emotionally or mentally healthy
and spread that dysfunction outward. And just because someone is in power
doesn't limit the effect of their personal dysfunction. It is in fact
magnified and spread further.

What do you think?

Peace in our Lifetime,
Bethey

When Wrong to be made Right.
