  [ =======================>  In RDT History  <======================= ]

On June 26th in 1993, "Tori's word on bootlegs":

Judy mentioned that Tori has a copy of the bootleg, Kiss on
the Glass. They have dubbed it, "Kiss My Ass". Tori is
absolutely against this type of recording and does not want
her fans to waste their money on it. Tori is very concerned
that a fan might unknowingly buy this disc, thinking it is
legit. Because Tori is so meticulous about the sound and
presentation of her music, to have this kind of recording
out there is a slap in the face. She does not want her fans
        to buy this CD.

In 1994, more newsgroups, more bootlegs stuff, including a
forwarded message from Rantz about how boots directly impact
Tori (subject: Re: More Boot controversy), which included the
     comments:

Atlantic (brilliant cahps that they are) released a
european-only live CD with rare tracks only found there.
Sales wer "ok" but ok, means that )in industry terms the CD
didn't break even. Why did it sell so badly? Because many
of the tracks on the official CD (mixed by Eric and Tori)
had been stolen in their rough forms and sold as bootlegs.
By the time the mixing was complete to Tori's and Eric's
standards, the illegal version had already been out killing
any demand for it by serious collectors of Tori's work... In
comparing the two versions, there is none. The official one
sounds great while the "off-the-soundboard" mix sounds
feeble. Weak, that is. Because of the European reaction to
the Live CD, the palns for a live CD in the US has been
        scrapped...

In 1995, sex, Tori mention in Tom Deitz's "Dreamseeker's Road",
Tori cast as Delirium, and the Flying Dutchman.

In 1996, more Tori and alcohol, more reviews, answers to "Who
is Gidget?", part 8 of the Bosendorfer story, and Tori on MTV
     Unplugged.

In 1998, getting into Tori via parents, and YKTR on CD.

     In 2000, violence in movies.

In 2001, more death penalty, prostitution, and more drugs.

Brian: Personally, I prefer to wash my laundry. What benefit is there to
painting it instead? Doesn't it make all your clothes stiff and
uncomfortable? ;)

I've been nutso crazy. After I recovered from pneumonia, the theatre season
started, and I have been so busy there, taking pics (which will be posted on
my site one of these days) and going to parties with the cast members.

Plus I've been teaching myself math so I won't be lost in my summer math
course (I learned long division YEA!). My friend told me he never met
anyone who had the balls to just go and teach themselves math before. He
just never met anyone so numberphobic, that's all. I have to learn all the
basics so I can run to stay in place.

And the biggie news (would you like to supersize that?) is I'm giving my
first speech for Project Child in 2.5 hours. EEK! 25 educators (elem to
hs) will be subjected to my rambling. Poor things. But maybe, just maybe,
my story will help them identify children currently being abused they have
in their classes.

eminem is not hot in my opinion. He's just like all the skinny little
twerps I dated in my late teens, and just as hateful. I gave him the
benefit of the doubt: he's just trying to be controversial, he is being
sarcastic, he's trying to make people think. But after Elton John performed
with him (on VH1?), MM started talking about what a stupid fag EJ was. That
clinched it for me. Sir Elton tries to help the boy's image and gets
insulted for it? And didn't he have a song where he talks about killing his
wife Kim by name? Marshall needs therapy to work out his issues instead of
blasting them over the airways to impressionable minds. At least Tori was
in therapy when she produced all of her "issue" songs and didn't advocate
violence and hate (I BELIEVE in PEACE bitch).

Yes, I listen to Tori, tho' not every day. But she is always on a comp CD
that I burn (there is always a Tori song that fits any theme).

Lastly, I think it was Jim who mentioned Harry Chapin. I love Harry.
Everyone, go find "Danceband on the Titanic" and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!! So
many stories in so many songs.

Got to go get ready and make an hours drive north. Wish it were a bit
cooler. At this point my tires are about ready to melt on the pavement.

Fairy Blessings,

HELP someone with addiction problems.
if you save the person, if you get the person out of the shit he/she gets
into over and over again and clean it and make it better
you'll only contribute to that illusion of soft ground which feeds that

you can talk, say what you think and feel directly, harsh. you need to cut
through several layers of denial and fear and sickness if you want that
person to hear you.
but don't think you can save. no.
you might help more by saying: I love you, I am hearbroken to see you like
this, I know your will has been overcome by this disease (the addiction) and
I want to help you but I will not be here to pick you up from the ground so
you can go beat yourself up again... when you fall and give up and realize

I like it, although it may take a while to grow on me as the
only other Sneaker Pimps album I've heard is Becoming X and I like
it immensely -- but it took me a lot time to get into that one. The sound
is very different, the drums more organic and it has more of a
modern feel, less slick and electronic and more ... hmm. I don't
have the vocabulary for electronica/techno music that I do for rock,
unfortunately. Anyhow there are a few standouts already, so I think I'll
be listening to this one a lot.

> so what the heck is everybody up to? this is the first summer i've stayed on

It's quiet all over the 'net right now. I think people are transitioning
from school to summer, or are working more or are on vacation or are
just being outside more and in front of the computer less. :)

I discovered this fun thing to do via livejournal yesterday. It's very
easy but essentially you just go over to your favorite search engine and
type in your first name and the word is ("Beth is") in quotes and see what
comes back. I already did "Beth is" so I'm gonna do a "Bethany is."

Bethany is as much a Christian community as it is a college.
Bethany is governed by a Board of Selectmen, Town Meeting, Board
of Finance form of government.
Bethany is very much a new-comer.
Jerome testifies: "Bethany is a village at the second milestone from Aelia
[Jerusalem], on the slope of the Mount of Olives, where the Savior raised
Lazarus...
Bethany is known for being less crowded with very little commercialism.
Bethany is a onetime political operative, Air America
pilot, and college wrestler who lives in Cambridge.
Bethany is blessed with many servants willing to lead and give in different
capacities.
Bethany is far from the snow and her home and all the expectations she had...
Their dam, Bethany, is a huge cow, 64-1/2 inches (164 cm.) tall,
weighing over a ton, and is extremely wide, EX(93) in
Frame, and deep-bodied...

Well, you get the idea.

If this doesn't annoy people like the surveys did, maybe other people can
do some.

Beth

Hey all,

Its so quiet at the moment, where has everybody gone.

Just to add to the Eminem debate.
I just don't get it ppl. He's sort of cute, but only if you go for the drug
dealer/pimp look. A weinne drug dealer/pimp at that.
I like his music though.

What has happened to tori? I still have not go SLG. And don't plan to get it
anytime soon. I know artist have to change and explore new directions, but
not at the expense of the fans. Its like she's burnt out, an gone to the
realm of retired artists like Joni Mitchell.
Come back tori.
Hopefully she spends some more time working on the new album, and gives it
an edge.

That's all from me!

Its a cold day in Africa!

I haven't read the book, but I didn't like the movie so much the first time
I saw it. I mostly only saw it because Johnny Depp was in it.

But then I thought about it, and I realized that the whole movie is about a
man being seduced by the devil. Unlike the other major characters, Corso
is not good or evil, he's somewhere in between. The story is about his
progression from a rather disreputable book dealer to a man who will beat
someone, and then eventually kill.

Once I realized this, and figured out who "the girl" really was, everything
fell into place. Even the little things fit into the pattern (for example,
when Corso first notices the discrepancies in the illustrations, he
mutters, "I'll be damned," which is just the literal truth).

I'd be interested in hearing if this corresponds at all to the book, or if
this was Polanski's contribution.

As B/4,

John

Subject: why am i awake at 7:21 am on a wednesday where i have nothing to do?

first of all, my dad mentioned yesterday that one of his "favorite writers"
mentioned tori amos in his column. when he told me what the article said,
it really irritated me and i wanted to hit something. the following is from
pj o'rourke's column on page 30 of the may 2002 issue of "the atlantic
monthly." the column describes the need for vote control in a so-called
"humorous" way...

"The Fifteenth, Nineteenth, Twenty-fourth, and Twenty-sixth Amendments to
the Constitution merely state that possession of the vote cannot be denied
on the basis of race, sex, failure to pay a poll tax, or having pierced
eyebrows, listening to Tori Amos, and wearing pants that expose the midriff
down to the knees."

now why is it necessary to generalize toriphiles with people who have body
piercings and/or wear pants that expose things they shouldn't? after all, i
listen to tori but i currently have no piercings and though i wear my pants
low (it's COMFORTABLE that way and my magnificent belly needs room to bounce
free!) i don't wear them like THAT! *cough* stupid people... ah well.

speaking of listening to tori, YES i listen to tori! on the way to taking
my sister to camp this year, i listened to BFP (i hadn't listened to that in
a long time, actually) and UTP. yesterday i listened to FTCH, plus some
random tori mp3s. so yes, i DO listen to tori! *blows raspberry at
skeptics*

for the record, i *hate* eminem, find nothing attractive about him, and
think he's annoying. so there.

happy trails to y'all
