[ =======================> In RDT History <======================= ]
On July 12th in 1992, a member remarked about a visit Tori had
recently made to Israel. [By far the most wide-ranging tour to
date, Tori played in such diverse places as Tel Aviv, Taipei,
and Reykjavik while promoting Little Earthquakes. Those were
the days. Anyways...] While in Israel, she appeared on radio
and television and played a live show. This member asked:
I heard she is going to have another tour in the US, so if
anyone gets a chance to talk to her, please ask her if
she'll visit Israel again and how soon.
In 1995, a member contributed this bit of dadaism:
Yes yes! Pink tomato spaghetti would be perfect for tori's
birthday! And I know she has a sweet tooth also- maybe there
would be a way to make sweet, pink, food-colored spaghetti?
We could use HONEY or even SUGAR! Maybe I'm taking this too
far? ;)
In 1996, someone announced that EastWest had cancelled its
plans to release the "Hey Jupiter" single. This may have been
the first of many singles EW cancelled in the forthcoming
years.
In 2000, members were discussing the relative standards of
attractiveness. The women, especially, lamented society's
beauty standards and their own approaches.

Subject: I'm Living in a Mathematical World and I'm a Mathematical Girl
I now exist in a multiverse where 10+ 6= 4 (assuming I use x+x/m) makes
sense. It's a scary world knowing how to use the same algorithms that
Wesley Crusher on Star Trek spouts out. What is truly scary is that I truly
understand what I'm doing and it's not that much of a strain on my brain.
Not bad for a fourth-grade math education, eh? So get this, a week into
this six week course and I'm already carrying an A+. I always thought I was
so stupid at math (without a calculator I'd be lost), but I somehow have the
ability to understand these formulas.
I'm really excited about this kid's show I'm doing. It's a comic retelling
of "A Christmas Carol" (the show is Christmas in July), and I am "Calvin
Hobbe" an imp filling in for the Ghost of Xmas Present, who has a strained
ACL. I have a sock fetish and get to sing "I Love Socks" to the tune of
Jingle Bells. Even as a non-singer it should be easy enough. I wrote the
lyrics and I think they are really funny, but my taste is a bit out there,
so we'll see. If anyone is around Quakertown Saturday Morning, spend the $5
and come see me make a fool of myself (but they will be laughing with me,
not at me). It starts at 11 sharp.
OK, time to start deleting 50 of the 54 messages in my inbox (damn spam) and
then back to modulating numbers.

Thursday, July 11
Tori's friend Neil Gaiman wrote this about the forthcoming album.....
The CD's about America -- it's a story that's also a journey, that
begins in LA and crosses the country, slowly heading east. America's
in there, and specific places and things, Native American history and
pornography and a girl on a plane who'll never get to New York, and
Oliver Stone and Andrew Jackson and madness and a lot more. Not to
mention a girl called Scarlet who may be the land and may be a person
and may be a trail of blood.

A first-grade teacher collected well-known proverbs. She gave each child

Subject: some sorta thoughts
I posted this to pt this morning, but one of my fellow fuzzy ferret
assistants suggested I post it here. Okay, warning, possible spoilers... :)
Some thoughts on the "A Sorta Fairytale" lyrics:
- "On my way up North" - I am thinking specifically of the four directions
of the Native American medicine wheel, although every interpretation
of the medicine wheel I've found online so far is completely
different. But for Northern Hemisphere pagans, North is the direction of
Earth, mother, and death.
- I think when she's talking about the "hood" she's talking about riding
in a convertible. What other songs have included mentions of cars? ("Glory
of the '80s," "Mary," "Mother" ...)
- What do you think it means that Tori's beginning her trip in Los
Angeles? (I'd bet anything this will be the first song on the album.)
It was her adopted home for a while, and it's where her music career
really took off, but it's also where she was assaulted.
- How do you break a silver lining? I'm guessing she's referring to "every
cloud has a silver lining." What caused the "cloud?"
- What sort of "fairytale" are we talking about here: Disney or Grimm?
- Can someone who's read the book give us a synopsis of Wally Lamb's
"She's Come Undone?" How does its mention play into the meaning of
this song?
- Does "break your bread" refer to the Last Supper? If it does, how does
it influence the meaning of lines around it, like "until the honey spread"
and "for me to take your word I had to steal it?"
- What if the "you" in this song is a God? (If so, which one would she
make a bet with?)
I think these thoughts could go in some really fun directions. :)

If you are asking because you wanted to make sure you LIKE the music before
you vote for it, you can listen to the song at the American Idol Web site ó
the song they play on the radio for the listeners to vote on is on the Web
site also.
I would never ask you to vote for something without letting you hear it

Subject: Napster
I have friends who've worked for napster and the thing that puzzled them
and us was that the radio can play music all day long for free but the
moment you record it (even if you record it from that same radio
broadcast) and put it on an mp3...you are a bad bad person.
Radio stations regularly broadcast entire cd's the day they are released
and this is okay...but if you miss it and later on that day you download
it off the internet, then all artists should hate you because you are
evil and out to get them.
3 years ago, metallica was featured on the internet site napster...and
they've been screwed ever since...they are declaring bankruptcy...
Oh...wait...wait...no...that never happened.
But radio stations pay artists for the right to play their songs.
Okay...fine...Why do you WANT to download metallica? Because you heard it
on the radio...when the artist was paid for the broadcast. You didn't
usually waste half an hour of download time to listen to something you've
never heard of...
But maybe it's an unknown artist? Metallica used to encourage people to
copy their music and give it to people because it was good advertising.
If radio was new, you would hear all these artists screaming about
that...but because it's something new, something that's never been done
before people all imitate 90 year olds who've just learned that microsoft
word has replaced the typewriter.
Leave the griping about technology to the grampas out there who still
think we owe them a government check just because they haven't died yet.

'ello everyone...
i have just joined this group and i thought i would go ahead and introduce
myself. hope im not interupting ;)......
My name is ian, im 25 (a virgo), i live in Atlanta, Ga. and i have adored
tori and her music since '92. i give her high praise for her sincerity, her
drive to reveal truth, her disire to help heal and be healed, her absolutely
beaming beauty and for never ever sucking =-)
as long as we are all going thru this whole pre album/single
high-anticipation period, i think i will add my bit to the discusion...
Tuesday night i was searching kazaa for tori vid's that i have not seen and
while i was there i figured i do an audio search as well....well, after
going through a long list of various songs i already listen to, i was just
about to disconnect when i saw it...a sorta fairytale. my jaw dropped, and
my adrenaline began to kick in. oh my god, it's the new song. what should
i do? so, after a few minutes of debating on the reasons for and against
downloading it, i decided i should. i figured that i only happened across
it (never even considering to search specificaly for it), so it was
obviously meant to be.
i d/led the song, and i have to say im really digging on it. its isnt
obscure and cryptic as some of her best songs, just as musically its more up
front with the guitar and the beat. at this point in my relation to the
song, its a beautiful and lite (without being fluffy) song about road
tripping and connecting within the moment. its a perfect summertime tori
song...without any anger, angst, guilt or sadness (except maybe the bitter
sweet kind). it's got that ethereal grace that she does so well, and im
loving it.
so, anyway thats all i wanted to say....im looking forward to recieving and
taking part in this list...
peace,

Married with children in hawaii
I really liked the first half of this movie. I think the watercolour
backgrounds really spice the movement, as the characters have to blend into
it... they did a good job there... but Disney still has a lot to learn from
the likes of Tim Burton and David Lynch: we do not need the fluffy pink
cutesy stuff. KIDS WANT TO HAVE FUN AS THE REST OF US!!!! ( and they
probably have more fun seeing someone receive a cake in the face than learn
that "hannuka means family" ).
So, when the movie turns out to be another moralist catholic-thinking story
about a broken ( but not irreparable ) family who show a freakin ugly alien
the meaning of loooove, it's lost my interest. Give me the alien hissing at
everyone and little Lilo feeling the blues with Elvis the whole movie,
goddammit!!!!!
And I still don't care if hulahula means family.

it especially hurts to see burnitz sucking such moose cock. he swings for
the fences, and if he doesn't whiff, he's popping up in the infield or
letting his bat fly into the stands. he needs to do a better job of
adjusting to the fact that every damn pitcher he faces is going to throw
shit at him inside. and rather than pull the ball, he should perhaps think
about going the opposite way more often. it's somewhat worked for vaughn,
and now i see that fewer teams have been utilizing the "ted williams" shift
(i.e., stuffing all your infielders on one side of the infield) on him. they
still do it for burnitz because they (correctly) expect that he's looking to
pull it.

it's too bad that it ended up that way. and as much as i think selig is a
jackass, i can't really fault him for calling it off. i think the blame
should lie more on the managers who feel it absolutely essential to get
everyone in the game.

it was hysterical to hear sammy after the first round, all negative and

want." piazza and schilling were dying from laughing so hard, and i can
totally understand it.
what i love about asf so far is how evans' bass tone fits in so weirdly. i

about it that makes me think the "bad news bears" clinching the NL east.
it's weird, but it fits, somewhat. the song's got a nice groove to it, even
if bellson can't tell the difference between real and synth drums. ;-)
anyone else think the email address "abulia@imaterrorist.com" truly
