The problem is that the dealers don't know either.
I've been completely disgusted every time I've had the
misfortune of interacting with personnel at a
dealership. That goes for sales and (dis)service. They
never know for sure what the problem is. It's a, we'll
change this and see, and then change that and see.
Problem is, all those little module changes cost a
bundle.

>Sounds like you had a case of good ol' Bali Belly if
>you appreciate bathrooms that much.
Ohhh no. Didn't have the pleasure of knowing bali
belly. I brought my own with me.
Did have a doc with the foresight to know that if you
meet this critter, it's waaaaay out of Pepto's league.
He gave me some cipro to take with me in case I felt a
rumblin'. Didn't need it though.
> My trip and all the needles was to India and
>Nepal, which are places where you really appreciate a
>real toilet.
Yum. Two more places on that long list I have of
places to go. I don't know about your love affair
with porcelain though. I think I'd rather just have
the hole in the ground. I found most the fixtures to
be completed scurvy and didn't want any part of me or
thing I had with me to touch them.

Jessica asked about the Sopranos..
I can't pin down any one episode as my favorite. I
really liked the entire first season. I am looking
forward to the new show, Carnivale. It looks very
David Lynch-ish. Did I say that already? Fitting.
Oh, saw an ad for the Handler. That's the new show
with Joe Pantoliano if you're interested.

Subject: Stupid Cat Tricks

Four men were bragging about how smart their cats were.

The first man was an Engineer, the second was an Accountant, the third
was a Chemist and the fourth was a Government Employee.

To show off, the Engineer called to his cat, "T-square, do your stuff."
T-square pranced over to a desk, took out some paper and a pen and
promptly drew a circle, a square, and a triangle.

Everyone agreed that was pretty smart.

But the Accountant said his cat could do better. He called his cat and
said, "Spreadsheet, do your stuff." Spreadsheet went out to the kitchen and
returned with a dozen cookies. He divided them into 4 equal piles of 3
cookies each.

Everyone agreed that was good.

The Chemist then said his cat could do better. He called his cat and
said, "Measure, do your stuff." Measure got up, walked over to the fridge,
took out a quart of milk, got a 10 ounce glass from the cupboard and poured
exactly 8 ounces without spilling a drop.

Everyone agreed that was pretty good too.

Then the three men turned to the Government Employee and said, "What can
your cat do?". The Government Worker called to his cat and said, "Coffee
Break, do your stuff." Coffee Break jumped to his feet, ate the cookies,
drank the milk, crapped on the paper, screwed the other three cats,
claimed he injured his back while doing so, filed a grievance report for
unsafe working conditions, put in for Workman's Compensation and went home
for the rest of the day on sick leave.

Fairy Blessings,
Bethey

I've already missed my 25th HS reunion. I had no desire to go, I only had
about three friends in high school, and I know where they are and email
with them occasionally. I'm sure they didn't go to the reunion either.

> Now why can't other people realise that, and stick to it?

My theory is that all the publicity about what a strong addiction tobacco
is (worse than heroin, some "experts" say) has made it a lot more difficult
for people to quit. After all, if you know something is nearly impossible
when you start out, that would seem to increase the possibility that you'll
fail. I remember that my parents both quit in the early 1960s (right after
the Surgeon General's report on tobacco came out) and neither of them went
through agonies that I can recall, and neither ever smoked again (well, my
father would smoke a pipe about once a year). I know it wasn't easy for
them, but there's a big difference between "difficult" and "nearly
impossible."

Just a theory.

> Or at least channel his bass playing abilities through me.

I was in a band once where we took a bass player mostly because he reminded
us of Entwistle. I'm still not sure if it was the right decision, he was
pretty good, but he scared off our guitar player, and she was *really*
good.

Then she broke up with her girlfriend and hooked up with a guy, and he
didn't like the idea of her being in a band, so that was that.

> Like I said at the top, I'm down a hand at the moment.

As we used to say at my former job, use your other hand and it'll feel like
somebody else. :-)

> Does this mean I can claim the cost of a prostitute on health insurance
> now?

Well, you can *claim* anything you want. Approval is a whole other
question.

As B/4,

John

Subject: More Tori for Sale!

Once again it is that time to jettison some of my Tori paraphenailia. There
is some fairly rare stuff on this list that i must part with due to some
financial crizap in my life, so please take a look. Shipping is included in
the price to make things simple. I will take a check but I'd prefer PayPal.
please email me at hejira@u-town.com if you're interested in any of the
below items.

****

Tori Amos interview cd and booklet: the unauthorized edition. $7
this is the one that's been everywhere. it's not rare or anything, but it's
really quite a nice interview and booklet detailing tori's career up to the
UtP era.

Tori Amos Star Profile. $7.
also pretty common. interview cd and really nice little book, up to the BfP
era.

Tori Amos, Tea With the Waitress, $30.
this is a fairly rare radio-only promo interview cd from the UtP era. it has
some really nice photos on the cover and liner notes and it's a good
interview.

Tori Amos, The Westwood One Interview, $20.
this cd is somewhat rarer. dated on February 27, 1992. Tori talks about her
childhood, living in the UK, the fairies, mythology, etc. a really thoughful
and moving interview.

Tori Amos, The Tour Box, Limited Edition #86/100, $45.
I got this from a website quite a few years ago. It's four VHS concert
videos, from each of Tori's tours up to that time. The four concerts are:
The Little Earthquakes tour, Washington DC, Under the Pink Tour, New York
City, Dew Drop Inn Tour, New Haven, CT, and Plugged 98 Tour, Poughkeepsie,
NY. The four videos come in a nice little case with color inserts on both
sides and spine, and there's a color label on each video. The videos
themselves are all of very good to excellent quality.

Tori Poster from The DDI Tour, Madison Square Garden, $10.
On nice cardboard, kind of looks like an old-fashioned one color printed
poster (the picture of Tori is black and White and the lettering is in red).
a little banged up on the corners.

Upside Down Magazine, Issue #5, $10
US Tori Fan Club Magazine from the UtP era. great drawings of Tori from
various fans and a couple of good interviews.

Upside Down Magazine, Issue #7, $10
Covers the release of BfP, has some really interesting insights into the
making of that album.

Take to the Sky, Issue #9, $15.
The UK fanzine from the BfP era. Has some great stories, interviews, opinion
pieces from fans, not to mention some great photos of Tori.

Promo Poster for Scarlet's Walk, $30.
A really nice double sided poster, 36x24 inches. One side is the Scarlet's
Walk map (much more detailed and beautiful than in the liner notes of the
album), and the other side is the same photo of Tori shown on the cover of
the album. In absolute mint condition, will be shipped in a tube so it won't
get damaged.

Tori Stories Box Set, $100.
I'm actually asking for what I paid for it like four or five years ago. It
is the original Tori Stories bootleg Box set, with the silver cds (NOT cdrs)
with Pauline Stuckey drawings of Tori on the cds themselves. It was a four
cd set, but it's missing disc 4 for some reason (that's how I bought it) so
it is only a 3 cd set. Has some really rare stuff - the first disc includes
Tori's first recorded songs when she was a teenager, ("Baltimore" et al),
Under the Pink piano demos, Tori's performance at a wedding in 1978, and a
really short little interview called "Attila the Honey". the second disc is
a soundboard recording of a Little Earthquakes, an EXCELLENT show, probably
the best recording of her on that tour. The third disc is a compilation of
various rare covers she did from the Under the Pink tour, everything from
"Wrapped Around your Finger" and "Boys in the Trees". If you want a full
track listing for the cds, i can provide it (it's probably available
somewhere on the web, too). The cds come with a little booklet with photos
of Tori and all of this comes in a nice little box with Tori's face on the
front (the photo from that Spin cover in 94). A really rare piece of Tori
schtuff.

i am very willing to provide pictures of anything on the above list, if you
want.

thanks, and please buy. :)
