Hola mes amies,

Aw, crap, Jim. I'm sorry. I hope your daughter is okay and dammit, that
sucks so much. I'll light some incense for her! And a candle! And I'll
let it burn all night until there's nothing left of the wick and then,
hopefully, that might do something. I don't know. It seems like a good
solution, maybe. Kinda. Aw! Feel better!

And Cheefooska! YAY! You aren't dead or living in a cave with a bunch of
friendly bears! (though wouldn't it be cool if you were? Though myself,
I'd rather be living with a bunch of friendly snow white tigers, but ya
know, to each his own) Mmmmm furrrrrr.....

I just shoveled snow and so far I am perfectly non-sick. I don't even have
a cough or anything and my kleenex supply is staying pretty much the same.
It must be my policy of isolation against any and all threats (including
the virus kind).

I have also learned today that vanilla tea is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Yuck!
Yuck yuck yuck!

Okay, I'm gonna be lightin' that candle now. I hope your daughter's gonna
be okay! :-(

Jim, my thoughts are with you and your family.

I wish so much I could say something neat and tidy, like telling you
not to worry because worrying doesn't do any good. But I know from
experience that you can't NOT worry. I know that each morning the
the first conscious thought that pops into your head before you even
open your eyes is "Oh, yeah" as the fear and adrenaline flood in,
making your stomach churn and your chest ache. For me, that's just
about the worst part ... waking up and for a split second thinking
it was just a dream, and then ... remembering it's not.

I hope you'll find some comfort and strength in being with the rest of
your family during all this. That really can help, being there for
each other during the scariest times, knowing you aren't alone.
Ultimately, all any of us can do is simply love. That's really the
only thing we can control. We can try to plan and worry and control
all we want to, but the rest of it is going to fall where it will.

You are in my prayers.

Violet

Subject: Opinion on Tori's new CD...

It sounds like people are mixed about this one to be sure. When it comes to
a "greatest hits", there are always songs that one feels should have been
left on there for all kinds of reasons. But in this case, there are songs
that were legit "hits" that should have been there. Also, the last 3 CDs
prior to this one were sorely underrrepresented. This is more an "anthology"
or "essential" collection than a "greatest hits".

But I think that she is also trying to tell a story with this one more than
just assembling all the singles and putting them out. There was some real
thought put into this, and not just a "contractual obligation". I also think
that she figured the EWFs already made themselves the "greatest hits",
because they already had all the songs to begin with. Bjork did a little of
both on one of her box sets, her "personal picks", and the single hits.

But what does come across is the DVD, and I have mixed feelings about it. On
one hand, this would have been an opportune time to put a "Bee sides" CD
out, or a DVD of all her videos (3 hours with commentary + the original LE
video), but she instead opted to put out a mini-concert. Not a bad thing,
but just wondering where this fits in to her Librarian concept..

Has Tori ever talked about those MP3 stocks she got for doing that tour with
Alanis?? Did she sell them before the company bottomed out? It sucks to see
them go out of business, and the former CEO is trying to hold on to the
songs by the unsigned acts. I also wonder if she is also going to be
wheelin' and dealin' with Steve Jobs next time around. I think by the time
she gets back in the game, the entire music industry will be very different
from the one she left. I also think that is another factor in her getting
out recently. She has worked her ass off since '96 nonstop, had a kid (will
she be a soccer mom?), signed to a new label, and relentlessly toured.

I think that the DVD of all her videos will happen as will the bee sides in
the next couple of years. I think that her contract with Sony is a factor in
what she does next, depending on what kind of contract she signed with them.
She sounds none too happy about the boss for Epic jumping ship. Could be a
return to Atlantic, or a new label that she'd be more at home with. Outside
of money, what other reason would someone sign to such a label? I think the
EWFs would have been over the moon had she put out her entire live tour, 2
concert DVDs, and a "Bee Sides" as PJ did before they jumped ship to be free
agents. They already have a solid fanbase, and it will be interesting to see
how they manage without major label backing.

Subject: Thank You

I cannot express my gratitude to everyone who took a moment in the last week
to tell me they are glad I'm alive. Even those who didn't mention it
directly, made an effort to connect with me for a moment, sharing parts of
their lives. The physical and cyber hugs and outpouring of love has
overwhelmed me. I half feared writing my story of my suicide would upset
people (I have been accused of "manipulating" with this story in the past),
or turn them off.

As a writer I have found that approx 10% of people will respond to something
that touches them. If this holds true, I'm writing to a heck of a lot more
than 2000 people. But I happen to think I'm writing to very special people
who are willing to give back. Thank you so much. You will never know what
it means to me.

12 years ago I tried to die. 6 months ago (on the 17th) I had an epiphany
that changed my life. Now, I'm ready to celebrate life. Thank you all for
letting me touch your hearts and souls, and thank you for touching mine in
return. We keep this sort of symbiosis going, we'll change the world in no
time! :)

Fairy Blessings,

okay, so it's time for a poorlittleToriphile to pay her rent.

I was a completist for a long time. but seeking to simplify my life (and
make room on my cd case) i am offering these Tori singles for sale. some of
them are fairly rare, and some are not. i've priced them accordingly. almost
all of them have great b-sides that you can't get (legally) anywhere else.
and if you buy more than one, i'll pick up the shipping (which would be
$3.85 [priority] otherwise).

all of these are in mint condition unless otherwise noted.

Winter UK single $20
1. Winter 2. The Pool 3. Take to the Sky 4. Sweet Dreams
this is the one with the cover of Tori on the horse.

God US CD5 Maxi Single $8
1. God 2. Home on the Range 3. All the Girls Hate Her 4. Over it

Cornflake Girl US single $8

Flying Dutchman (live)
Disc 2: 1. Past the Mission (LP version) 2. Winter (live) 3. The Waitress
(live) 4. Here. in my Head (live)
lots of great live songs you can't anywhere else. it's also signed (though
not for me). i can't even remember where i got this, it must have been in a
trade eons ago. at any rate, the reason it's fairly cheap is because the
case is a bit worn around the edges.

God UK single $10
1. God 2. God - the Dharma Kaya Mix 3. God - the Rainforest Resort Mix 4.
God - the Thinking Mix 2
these mixes are actually really cool and not annoying (unlike some others
we've heard)

Ambient Raspberry Swirl - Scarlet Spectrum 4. Mainline Cherry - Ambient
Spark

Scarlet Story

********************

and some other stuff that is not singles:

Tori Amos interview cd and booklet: the unauthorized edition. $5
this is the one that's been everywhere. it's not rare or anything, but it's
really quite a nice interview and booklet detailing tori's career up to the
UtP era.

Tori Amos Star Profile. $5
also pretty common. interview cd and really nice little book, up to the BfP
era.

Tori Amos, Tea With the Waitress, $30.
this is a fairly rare radio-only promo interview cd from the UtP era. it has
some really nice photos on the cover and liner notes and it's a good
interview.

Tori Amos, The Westwood One Interview, $15.
this cd is somewhat rarer. dated on February 27, 1992. Tori talks about her
childhood, living in the UK, the fairies, mythology, etc. a really thoughful
and moving interview.

Three Tori Magazines, $15:
Upside Down Magazine, Issue #5
Upside Down Magazine, Issue #7
Take to the Sky, Issue #9

Promo Poster for Scarlet's Walk, $15.
A really nice double sided poster, 36x24 inches. One side is the Scarlet's
Walk map (much more detailed and beautiful than in the liner notes of the
album), and the other side is the same photo of Tori shown on the cover of
the album. In absolute mint condition, will be shipped in a tube so it won't
get damaged.

Tori Stories Box Set, $75.
It is the original Tori Stories bootleg Box set, with the silver cds (NOT
cdrs)with Pauline Stuckey drawings of Tori on the cds themselves. It was a
four
cd set, but it's missing disc 4 for some reason (that's how I bought it) so
it is only a 3 cd set. Has some really rare stuff - the first disc includes
Tori's first recorded songs when she was a teenager, ("Baltimore" et al),
Under the Pink piano demos, Tori's performance at a wedding in 1978, and a
really short little interview called "Attila the Honey". the second disc is
a soundboard recording of a Little Earthquakes, an EXCELLENT show, probably
the best recording of her on that tour. The third disc is a compilation of
various rare covers she did from the Under the Pink tour, everything from
"Wrapped Around your Finger" and "Boys in the Trees". If you want a full
track listing for the cds, i can provide it (it's probably available
somewhere on the web, too). The cds come with a little booklet with photos
of Tori and all of this comes in a nice little box with Tori's face on the
front (the photo from that Spin cover in 94). A really rare piece of Tori
schtuff.

alright, that's my last pitch before the holidays. please take a look and
email me (hejira@u-town.com) if you have any questions.

with that, she was gone.
