Yesterday I went to the mall with my parents...well, they just were there
with me, but they were walking with me. We ate at separate tables. I
wanted to be alone because I was having one of my depressing moments,
thinking about Nicole constantly. Well, I always think about Nicole, but
sometimes it's so painful that I just have to sit by myself and think about
the times we've had together and what it would be like to see her again.
Alanis Morissette said it better than anyone could, "I'd be paralyzed if I
ran into you, my tongue would seize up if we were to meet again"..."flinch"
from under rug swept.
About 80% of all dreams I have, I dream about being back friends with Nicole
and things going back to normal. Some of the dreams turn out bad but most
of them are good. Last night when I dreamed about Nicole at the end of the
dream I knew I was dreaming and I told her that I was dreaming and then I
said, "See..." and I blinked and woke up. It's pretty amazing when you know
your dreaming and you can easily blink just to wake. That's only happened
to me like 3 times in my lifetime. I find that so interesting.
Anyways, yesterday when I was at the mall there were these 15 guys sitting
on a bench talking really loud to each other and then they said to each
other, "Watch this...this'll work." I knew that they were planning to ask
or do something for me, but I didn't wanna look like I expected it so I
looked away, some guy said something that I didn't understand but I heard
him say something about glasses. Thinking they were complimenting me, I
smiled but when I realized that they might've been being sarcastic about
saying my glasses were "cool" or something. I thought that now-a-days
glasses aren't considered "nerdy". It's not like I give a shit if it is
consider that, but I seriously thought they weren't made fun of anymore.
Anyways, not because they said it, but because I truly believe I look better
without my glasses...I'm gonna TRY contacts. I might not stick with them
though...I'm gonna TRY though.

Subject: Tori in london last friday
Well, i went to the concert on friday night, and it was awesome, as
always
Tori was wonderfully beautiful and as ever, so energetic for someone
who's playing a piano
the selection of songs was odd - several tracks for LE, hardly any UtP,
the well known ones from BfP, couple from ftCGH. couple from tVaB - not
sure about SLG and several, but i didn't think there were very many,
from SW
i guess, as SW sounds, to me at least, more like her early stuff, it
makes sense that there was more of the mellow tracks, but i missed the
heavier tracks from UtP and BfP.
merchandise-wise, it was disapointing. last time (Dec 2001) there was
an awesome array of t-shirts, both for boys and girls, and i bought all
the boy ones (or at least, those of a generic cut that weren't pink).
this year, there was only one that you could safely wear as a male -
shame too, cos i went loaded to buy everything. no good pendants for
guys either.
as always, there was some solo guitarist support act that i've never
heard of - i guess he wasn't bad, but it was disturbing when, having
spent, i guess, 40 minutes enthusiastically strumming away at his
guitar and signing into the microphone, on the last song, halfway
through he stops signing the chorus line, yet it still plays. and then,
near the end, he just gave up on the guitar totally, with no noticeable
effect to the music.
Tori started at 8.45 - stopped at 10.15 just about i think. then came
back for the 2 song encore. then came back again for another 2 songs.
finished on Tear in Your Hand - never one of my favourite tracks, but
it is awesome live
the performance was.... quite good - Tori was wonderful, of course, her
voice never ceases to amaze me how perfect she sings every time i've
seen her. the band was a drummer and a bass guitarist. both appeared to
be amazing musicians - and the effect of adding the heavy bassline and
drums to some of the older songs that didn't have them worked very well.
i felt the bass was a little to heavy. don't get me wrong, i love all
bass sounds, and all my hi-fi's have their equilizers set to amplify
and low frequencies and i'll listen to any
techno/dance/rap/hiphop/metal anything as long as it's got a great
driving bassline
but in this case, it was so loud and so deep, there were times when i
couldn't hear the piano, and i couldn't really hear Tori singing
i dunno - maybe it was still the raging hangover i'd had all morning
that was just dulling my ears.
but it was well done in most cases, and there was a middle section "at
the Roadside Cafe" where it was just Tori. which was awesome, and
contrasted well with the songs they played when the band returned
and as always, in the audience, there's the one group who recognise the
song within the first few notes and scream and clap (sorry, i'm one of
those) and then there's the other lot that don't get it until she
starts to sing the first line, and then scream and clap then. i don't
think i've been to a concert where the whole audience are such fanatics
:-) ;-) (except for the guy next to me who had blatantly just been
dragged there by the girl sitting next to him)
the playlist included the following - this i just from memory, i'm
probably forgetting loads, and all i know for sure is that wampum
prayer was first, so i'll list them by album instead :
wampum prayer
little earthquakes
take to the sky
china
tear in your hand (encore)
landslide (
cornflake girl (was awesome)
caught a lite sneeze (always amazing)
talula (encore i think)
cruel
iieee
black-dove (encore i think)
hotel (amazing to see her sing it live)
playboy mommy
bliss
amber waves
a sorta fairytale
wednesday
crazy
dont make me come to vegas
sweet sangria (again, stunning when she sings it live)
pancake
i can't see new york
mrs jesus (maybe it was the 1st encore?)
taxi ride
i can't imagine that she didn't play Scarlet's Walk itself - but i
don't remember it
but then, looking at that list, i think there are one or two that i
missed. maybe Strange, maybe Carbon.
anyway, point is, it was fantastic - i still say the last one was a
better show (but that might be because last year i didn't have a
hangover from hell to deal with) - but i wouldn't have missed this one
for anything !!
