Dani said:
Each variant of the Pill has different side effects, as well as
different severities of side effects. What might work for one female might
have disastrous effects for another.
Yes! this is true. A few years ago I was in this VERY long distance
relationship and not only was it my first ever serious relationship but we
were 3000 miles apart. At the time I was talking to my mom and she was
talking about sex between me and the guy and asking if it was a possibility
and when I said yes, she basically commanded to me that I go on the pill. I
went on orthro tri cyclen and the stress of the relationship depressed me. i
flushed them in the SF airport after I got dumped yet I didn't realize til
fall of 2001 that I was VERY depressed because I had gone on them again.
Anyway, I didn't get enough motivation to go back to the gyno and demand
that she switch my pills til Jan of 2002 because I was so depressed. I
switched to Estrostep and LIFE IS BETTER. So, yes, if you go on them you
obviously need to pay attention to side effects and your doctor and you can
play around with the estrogen amount. And no, weight gain does not happen to
every girl. The side effects that are listed on mine are: vaginal bleeding,
possible change in vision for contact lens wearers, fluid retention in
fingers or ankles and melasma which is a darkening of the skin. I haven't
had any of these so I am personally very happy with Estrostep. I was just
reading this study that discusses pregancy possibilities after going off the
pill. Some *experts* were thinking that after women go off the pill it is
much harder for them to get pregnant yet in the study 70%+ of the women got
pregnant in 3-6 months after going off the pill. As long as you feel comfort
in the medical industry and are okay with it, go for it. My friend refuses
to take the pill because she says "well, what did women do before aspirin
was invented?" women had cramps for millions of years and didn't have any
sort of ibuprofen. sure, they probably had roots and grass to suck on but
damn, i'd prefer the advil. now i don't have to take any of that. i wonder
how many women in the sex industry are on the pill?
megan, i appreciated your email! :D I love my poetry teacher. a lot. he's
intelligent and inspiring and beautiful. too bad he has a wedding ring. i
actually just wrote a poem over this past week to make 17 copies of it for
thursday. i'm kind of nervous to read it but i really appreciate brutal
honesty and if someone says it sucks then i want to hear why. if you want to
read it, i can email it to you. hope things go okay with your satanic
roommate.
I got back today from this resort in eastern oregon with all my housemates.
it was great, i went sledding and BONDED naked in the hot tub. wooo. i took
care of a new year's resolution.
love, jessica

Tori Amos in Concert
February 25, 2003 (Tuesday)
07:30 PM Until...
The Greensboro Coliseum is proud to announce it will host Tori Amos
in concert on February 26th at 7:30 PM.
After recently wrapping a set of European performances, Tori Amos
will be tour the U.S. in support of her fall 2002 release Scarlet's
Walk beginning in Boca Raton, Florida, on February 19th.
Scarlet's Walk is Amos's first set of completely new material since
1998's From the Choirgirl Hotel and her first release on Epic
Records. Over the past decade, Amos has released six albums,
including 2001's Strange Little Girls, a collection of cover songs
written by male artists about women. Amos first rose to prominence
in 1992 with her debut solo album, Little Earthquakes. The album was
an international success, selling more than two million copies
worldwide and establishing Amos as one of the most compelling female
vocalists to emerge from the '90s.

says this show goes on sale *tomorrow*, january 22 at 10am. however, it
also says that the date of the show is february 26th, not february 25th

hopefully, between the venue, the ticketing agency and (gods forbid) tori's

Anyone see Letterman last night? He had on the most amazing arist, a fellow

of the song she played, but it literally gave me chills. UNBELIEVABLE!

just realized/remembered that the charlotte date is february 25th which
likely means that the correct date for greensboro would be february 26th.
or maybe it means something else -- a venue change? who knows?
i've sent a note to the coliseum and tickets.com asking for clarification,
so we should, hopefully, have an answer soon. sorry for the extra note and
potential confusion....

Does anyone (who is willing to admit the watched Joe Millionaire)
think Mojo looks a lot like Tori. I think Tori has a little more of a
round face, but the eyes, lips, and hair color all make me think of
Tori.
Also, why did Joe pick Zora? She obiviously wasn't too interested in
him and didn't think she'd get picked.

Subject: Heinlein said... (yes -The- Dirty Old Man :)
RAH (Heinlein) wrote a story called 'Lifeline' in 1939 - and it's got a
neat quote that makes me think of the RIAA and it's ilk...
The judge in a court case in the story says (I'm skipping the first part
as it -really- doesn't apply. Anyone who's got a copy of the story can
probably find it. It is quite US-oriented but somehow that doesn't seem
such a terrible thing here *sillygrin*)
oh - situation: Life insurance corporation suing man who invents machine
that predicts when a person will die...
"Before we leave this matter I wish to comment on the theory implied by
you, Mr. Weems, when you claimed damage to your client. There has grown
up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because
a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of
years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of
guaranteeing such a profit in the future, even in the face of changing
circumstances and contrary to public interest. This strange doctrine is
not supported by statute nor common law. Neither individuals nor
corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of
history be stopped, or turned back."
I'm wondering about the legal end slightly (there's weird laws out there)
but I liked the quote and laughed a lot. But then I write software
(including videocapture/compression :) and so view the current copywrite
law as not well handled for current technology... (and this goes double
with the Evil DMCA in the US and it's relatives in other countries)
Ah well. Don't know if any of y'all would be interested but who knows.
Signing off for now...
G'day, eh? :)
