Subject: dream of yummy food.

okay.. EVERYBODY but my mother loves my new hair color. my mom
hates it. OH well. :D I like it. not much is happening.. nothing that you
won't have found out when this gets seen by everybody anyway.. so.. on
with the slimy replies!

Nell said about Ben Folds: "He came out wearing a shiny pink pointy
princess hat and cape (Tash's?) and began to sing off key. "I can't sing
in this shit!" he said and tossed it away. I caught a glimpse of a man
holding a little girl on stage beside the sound equipment. She was
wearing a shiney pink dress. I think it was Tash.<
it could have been one of Ben's kids. apparently he's the proud
dadoo to 4-year-old twins...

Jessica wrote! YAY!! "So....Cyndi prodded us to write...oh cyndi, my
three tattoos are a hippo on the inside of my left ankle, a blue star on
the inside of my right wrist and a purple butterfly in flight on my lower
back. so, now you know. the hippo hurt the most...it was 15 minutes of
sheer pain but it looks amazing. they all do but the hippo is the
absolute best. it has all this shading done."
I love tattoos.. but I'll never get one unless they invent some
that only last.. about five years... and I'm talkin' "real" ones too.
Jessica, take pics of your tattooooos.. Ivanna tee! Ivanna tee!

Jessica then informed us: "i bought more underwear today. it's an
addiction i have. i own more than 100 pairs. i bought six pairs today
(two of them are scratch and sniff thongs, how fun is that?!) and i
almost bought more at VS. i also nearly bought days of the week panties
but they were spongebob squarepants and while they were cute...I thought
"Should someone who is nearly 25 years old own those?" I did not buy
them."
you SHOULD have. nothing like Spongebob on your crotch to enhance
the mood. ;)

Jessica then said: "last year when we played USC, i was like "great, the
condoms are playing the vaginas." trojans and beavers."
haaaaaa.. and who won? the condoms or the vaginas? :D

also, Jessica, good luck with that guy who has come back to your housing
to haunt the place.. :-\ *hug*

*ahem* and on that note.. SALMON IS DELICIOUS.. and fish is good for your
heart. EVERYBODY MUST EAT SALMON. :P ... *ahem*... er, on second
thought.. NOBODY touch the salmon, IT'S MINE! *snarl!* *looks around...
and sees everybody staring..* it's MINE, I tell ya, it's MINE! *takes
everybody's salmon and runs away*

Sincerely, Cyndi S. Crawford

Subject: Radio killed the Video Star...

I had my first show today...a whole two hours. And I filled it with no
problem. A little bit of talk (a preview of the 10 questions I'll be asking
on the "Meet the Professors" segment; from Inside the Actors Studio) and a
little bit of music, very eclectic. I played the whole of "The River Music
Hall" from RAINN.org (only $10 bucks for a kickass CD, so go get it!) and
did 5 promo spots for RAINN during it. I started and ended with "Wednesday"
and the next to last song was "When Doves Cry" ;). Did anyone listen?
Probably not. No one is used to having campus radio yet (and it's closed
circuit on campus only) and no advertising has been done. Hell, I was the
only DJ doing a show this week. I really wanted a practice run to see if I
could actually do two hours. So what do I really think?

I taped it. I prepared myself to cringe upon hearing my voice, but to my
surprise, I sound like a DJ. My voice is low and smooth, very few "ums",
and the music flowed nicely even though it was radically different. I
wasn't babbling like I feared, I was conversing the way DJ's do. It's nice
to find out you are better than you thought, ya know? I have to bring in my
own CD's, but that is way cool, because I got some good music, and a whole
hell of a lot of it. I mostly just had a really good time. I never thought
of doing radio before, didn't appeal to me. But now that I know I can, I
might think of interning at a station to check it out. There are worse
jobs, eh?

Fairy Blessings,
Bethey

all right so now you guys know that I screamed like an insane woman (well
it wasn't a prolonged one..) when Tori ended the Atlanta show with Your
Cloud.. :D

in other news, my faithful '92 Volvo is going to have to be sent to car
heaven.... we've had that car for around eleven years.. and my siblings
and I all three learned to drive on it.. and it was.. well.. it was my
car after my brother and sister left home and so on.. I'm gonna miss it.
I even had a bumper sticker put on it about two months ago that said
"HANG UP AND DRIVE".. (and someone actually got pissed off at me for it,
HA!)

but some good news comes from this tragedy. *sniffle* in about six to
nine months, my parents and I are going to go car-shopping for me. I'll
probably wind up with a deep blue (beautifully so) 4-door automatic
Saturn. :)

so.. now.. on with the replies. :D

Beth gave us her reintroduction.. "I love immersive "entertainment"
experiences and intense things: Buffy/Angel, Baraka, Fight Club, The
Crow, Almost Famous, Poppy Brite, Caitlin Kiernan, Neil Gaiman. When it
comes to books, I almost universally prefer nonfiction."
I'm sure you've seen the movie for Fight Club, but have you read
the book? all of Chuck Palahniuk's books are AMAZING, Beth, you really
should check 'em out if you haven't already. :D

Jessica said: "cyndi...the penguin thing...well, it wasn't funny but it
was kind of cute. as cute as the st bernard puppy i saw at the mall
today."
well.. yeah. but I also found it hilarious when the penguin used
the mallet.. mostly because on AIM, I tend to chat nightly with a group
of friends who are fans of Animaniacs. (and I *love* Animaniacs.) and so
therefore, quite a bit of mallet-usage tends to happen from time to time.
:D

Jessica then said: "someone needs to fucking commit me to Underwear
Addicts Anonymous. I bought six pairs on sunday and five more pairs today
at VS."
and you've already got something like a hundred pairs? go back to
that one store and buy Spongebob! :P at least you can say you own that
cute pair and stuff. :D

and on that note, since there's nothing left to reply to in this RDTRN
but my concert review and the article that the ever so lovely Woj posted
for us... WRITE MORE, PEOPLE! and don't freakin' make me beg either. :P

okay.. there, I said it. ciao!

Sincerely, Cyndi S. Crawford

Subject: crushes, and indulgences

Jessica wrote: "who were all your celebrity crushes when you were
little?"

I has madly in love with Dirk Benedict who played Starbuck on
Battlestar Galactica and Faceman on The A-Team. I was too young to catch
them first run, but boy howdy if I haven't seen every single rerun of
both shows!
Bruce Campbell, of Evil Dead/Army Of Darkness fame, had a show called
The Adventures Of Brisco County Jr. I even got to meet him once when he
did a mall tour when I was 11.
Sean Patrick Flannery. He was "Young Indiana Jones" on The Young Indiana
Jones Chronicles for those of you who don't know or never stayed up
until 4am to catch it. This infatuation was from the age of 12-14. Until
I realized how BAD of an actor he is. Now you can catch him on The Dead
Zone.
David Duchovny, The X-Files.....I still love him, who am I kidding.
John Cusack....Better off Dead is still one of my all time favorite
movies.

Jessica also wrote: "I think this should bring about a discussion about
the indulgences we all love."

For me personally I think my collections are my worst indulgences.
Mostly action figures. And since the apartment situation is less than
desirable I'm basically just accumulating many LARGE boxes of them. I
need a room where I can maniacally dust and catalog my plastic treasures
like the true nerd girl that I am.
I also collect T-shirts. Not any 'ol shirts mind you. Gotta be vintage
band or movie shirts. Or just something a like. :) Thrift stores are
like crack to me.
Hair dye. My hair has been all and many mixtures of the following
colors:
Bleach blonde
Orange
Yellow
Blue
Purple
Black
Green
Burgundy
Fire engine red
brown
right now it's a somewhat decent looking Reddish/Burgundy/with black
streaks

Tattoos. My god if I had all the money I needed to do my next
piece.....but for me right now they are DEFINITELY an indulgence.
Jessica, I'm with ya on the undies problem, girl. If I have ten bucks
'til payday and there's a sale on underoos, I'm in big trouble.

OK, that's it for me folks. Have fun and remember to wear protective
eyewear when in direct sunlight and drink plenty of fluids. Or something
like that...

Subject: Hello my name is...

hey,
i guess it's time for me to say who the heck i am. my name is Linda and i live in Ca. i am a senior at cal state fullerton and i'm majoring in radio tv and film. i too have a radio show but it's only heard online. it's an internet station. for some reason i cant send you guys the link. but if you go to www
dot titan internet radio dot com (insert a period where i typed out dot and no spaces) my show airs on tuesdays from 1130am -1230pm (PST) the show is called "Lunch with Linner" and i basically play songs from my personal collection.
i'd love for you guys to listen and IM me when i'm on the air (Linner317 is that aim name - actually you can IM me now if you want. s'all good)

my dream job is to be a DJ on the air. but who doesn't want to talk for 4 hrs a day and get paid for it right. the "music biz" is very large and i realize that. i've been lucky enough to land an internship at BMG. for those of you who don't know BMG owns a bunch of record labels and music libraries and a publishing company and a ton more. i'll intern twice a week up in los angeles. i start on wed i'm very excited.

i'm a waitress at marie callender's and am liking it nicely. i'm still a bit new to marie's but i've been serving for 5 years. (at coco's). i'm in the market for a car. my parents offered to buy me one for my 25th birthday - isn't
that nice of them. i love them. i was born 3 months premature so my vision is a bit screwball. i can only see out of one eye so that's why it's taken me a bit longer to get a license. i've been driving a yamaha scooter for the last 5 years. it's cool and all but it sucked when it would rain and it was *almost* as fast as the speed limit. =)

i've always loved tori. but i guess i became "involved" w/ her in the end of 97. when was the KROQ breakfast w/ tori? when she played for free in the parking lot of the palace? i was there. so i adore tori. i've got respect for her as a woman, as a mom, as an artist and as a performer. i'll most likely name a kid after her as well. but we'll see what the hubby says.

on a more personal note: i'm 25 years old. i'm white. i have blonde hair and wear glasses. i'm five foot 3. i am also a member of the LDS church (aka Mormon) i love it. i love animals. i love to swim. i love oreo cookies and anything
chocolate. i enjoy fish and popcorn. halloween is my most fave holiday and i've been having a party in the month of october for 6 years now. the cops like to come too. =) i like to do crazy things like jump out of airplanes and off of bridges. if i could fly i would.

other musicians i love are (in no particular order) zwan, the smashing pumpkins, u2, pearl jam, the cure, howie day, sheila nicolls, reel big fish, buchanan, the living end, new order, eve 6, i also enjoy soundtracks. i still need to get pirates and the two towers. i'm a huge lord of the rings fan. i also
adore the nightmare before christmas. i've got posters, shirts, and other paraphernalia from that movie. i love to travel. i spent some time in australia and i spent 5 hrs in a new zealand airport. hehe.

well i guess that's all. email me or IM me and i'm always up for a good chat.

hugs and pumpkins peace linner out. -z-

Tori Amos Bears New Fruit

New compilation to include two new songs

Tori Amos will encapsulate her decade-long career with the release of a
best-of collection on Atlantic Records on November 18th. Amos, who
first surfaced with 1992's Little Earthquakes, conceived the set --
which contains two new tracks, ("Snow Cherries From France" and
"Angels") -- as a librarian would, in an attempt to remember and
restore some of her early work, presenting it in a cohesive package.

"I'm referring to it more as a 'best-of' because I think to have a
'Greatest Hits' you need like ten Top Ten hits," Amos says from a
Columbia, Maryland, tour stop. "This is more of a chronicle of what we
know of Tori from 1990 to 2003 . . . So it's from her perspective of
the last many years, having traveled around the world and going through
her own personal stuff. And the songs do that. Maybe it's the closest
thing to an autobiography of this woman's life that there's ever been."

The album's track list is informed by Amos' narrative approach as much
as her commercial successes. "It includes things like 'Precious Things'
and of course 'Silent All These Years,' 'Cornflake Girl,' 'Spark,'
songs that people might be familiar with on one level," she says. "And
then there are quite a lot of songs that I felt gave you more story and
a bit of sizzle with variations musically. It had to represent a whole
musical spectrum because that's very much a part of the story. It's not
just the ballads. It's not just what you heard on the radio."

Two songs -- "Mary" and "Sweet Dreams" -- were originally slated for
release on Little Earthquakes, but were cut from the final album. Amos
re-tracked the songs with her current bassist Jon Evans and drummer
Matt Chamberlain. "I don't think they were brought to their zenith,"
she says. "And I thought the songs were still valid."

As for the new songs, Amos says she recently finished writing "Snow
Cherries From France," after years of failed attempts. And she
describes "Angels" as being more situated in the present, the
culmination of having played in piano bars for "that whole Washington
set" since she was a teenager. "It's a commentary on now," she says.
"The world after what we've been through the last two years and the
state of play."

According to Amos, the hardest part was not selecting which songs from
her oeuvre would make the cut, but rather finding the original mixes.
"Tracking down some of these tapes was an awesome task," Amos says. "I
think they might have been in somebody's dorm room somewhere [laughs] .
. . I'm serious, the libraries that were supposed to be taking care of
the masters were not in tact. So we had people chasing down masters all
over the world. We found some in -- you'd be amazed -- in like the
playroom of their house. It's like, 'What's "Winter" doing there?'"

Amos wraps her Lottapianos tour with fellow piano pal Ben Folds tonight
in West Palm Beach.
